Babbitt: “Give me the bird! Give me the bird!”
Catstello: “If the Hays Office would let me, I’d give him the bird all right”. Followed by a double whistle.
Priceless dialogue.
Next to "How old is she?" in the Big Snooze greatest WB cartoon joke ever!
Catstello: HEY, BABBIT!!! OH, BABBIT!!! BABBIT!!!
Babbit: What’s the matter now?
Catsello: I’m afraid of the dark.
Babbit: Well, I’ll let you out then.
(Funny dialogue)
@@thaitemple1807 If the Hays board would allow it I'd give him the bird alright!!!!
The Animaniacs rehashed the joke in their thanksgiving episode.
Pilgrim: Give me the bird!
Yakko: We’d love to, but the Fox censers won’t allow it.
“Is there an insurance salesman in the house?!”
Love that line!
I sometimes quote this if I am watching a film with a lot of action scenes. 😂
Babbot always killed me with how he could always trick Catstello into doing his dirty work.
The gag at 4:47 is the most inspired- dare I say brilliant- animated gag I've ever seen!
I agree with you! Sinking the whole prairie with one anvil. And the use of airbrush to blurr Catsello on his 20 foot drop from the barn rooftop. Exagerrated into a 2,000 foot drop, of course
I just wish they wouldve used Tedd Pierce to voIce characters more often. I really enjoy him here as Babbit. Shame on you, Mel! You shouldve asked for the other actors to work opposite you more often!
I watched this cartoon at the age of 5, and now I'm age 21. Still brings back my old memories!
2:35
HEY BABBIT!! OH BABBIT!! BABBIIIIT!!!
I'm afraid of the dark...
Flips the hatch and the fat cat skyrockets into the air. Bounces above Tweety’s nest (Tweety was initially known as Orson in this short) twice, Tweety says: “I taut I taw a puddy tat!” The cat bounces up again, Tweety says: “I did! I taw a puddy tat!” The cat bounces up once more, Tweety bats him on the head, the cat defends himself the best he can, only for tweety to crash him again onto the ground. Tweety says: “Oh, the poor puddytat! He cwushed his widdle head!” And puts a mischievous smile on his face.
6:25 PUT OUT THOSE LIGHTS!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂
I wish these two cats had more cartoons they were hilarious.
You’re right! I can’t think of the name of the cartoon, but they did appear as mice in it, doing battle with the house cat, and the other one was ”Hollywood Canine Canteen” where you saw them as dogs for a short moment. Not sure if there were any others, though. 😃👍
@@johnrowley3721they appear as mice in "A Tale of Two Mice" and "The Mouse-Merized Cat"
@@wakiloon Thanks for that! I was wanting to know the names of those cartoons. Appreciate your reply! 😃👍

I saw this in a collection DVD, i never knew that was the first time he said it
@@Papohawkiscool11No.2 thank you for saying the exact same thing I said, captain obvious
4:40 has got to be the best anvil drop in cartoon history! I saw this episode as a kid back in the 90's and I tracked this down just to see that part again.
@@okjeffy6581 It was on a video tape that we lost track of, so I had to find it on the internet.
1:14 "I'm scared to go up high. I get.. Height... tro... phobia?" Classic
Bob Clampet was a genius, decades ahead of his time.
3:24 there is something absolutely horrifying about that smile.
If this is Tweety's first animated adventure and he doesn't have feathers, then he must have just hatched.
BABBBBIT BABBIT! I remembered yelling that as a kid and now I'm 27. Happy 80th Tweety ya old bird :')
My goodness I watched this cartoon as a child living in San Francisco in the 70's. Love it.
One of the best cartoon shorts ever!!!
Our generation had the best in movies, music, and cartoons.
4:18 those expressions are priceless!! XD
They captured the personas of Abbott and Costello so well in these two! 😃👍
This is fucking hilarious. Even funnier then when I was a kid. "LET ME AT EM! GANGWAY! I'LL MURDERLIZE EM'!"
3:24 I am not gonna I always found that pretty hilarious when tweety would do that smile I actually didn’t see it for almost 2 decades I saw it once on Cartoon Network but never saw it again.🤣🤣🤣
3:54 That worm was really delicious🤣🤣🤣
I can’t believe this was over 80 years old.
"Well, what do you know, I ran out of piggies." 😏
My favorite part of this whole cartoon is the little piggies bit, especially when Tweety says, "Well, what do ya know? I wan outta piggies."
0:20 the part that catstello acts like a brat
Also happy birthday Tweety your now a 80 years old bird :3
Oh my lord I forgot how hilarious this short was X'D I used to imitate Catstello's rage at 1:03 as a kid, particularly the "wHERES HE GET THAT STUFF" with the arm flapping. I am so happy to have found this again ;_;
Catsello actually says "Dont push me Abbot". 🤣 guess there wasnt time for a second take.
Is nobody gonna talk about how Babbot and Catstello became mice in every other cartoon they were in after this one?
Classics like this, can't be beat. Lol
I like how at 3:57, Catsello is technically supposed to be falling straight down, but it's cheated between cuts so that instead of directly falling on top of it, he's flying TOWARDS the roof from an odd angle so as to give more visual impact, since the scene moves fast enough that the audience wouldn't notice the cheated perspective.
Thanx so much for sharing the entire cartoon!
This is a very long-time favorite.
Love love love the movie star parodies.
RIP, Mel Blanc, and thanx so very much for the magic and memories.

Catstello: HELP! SAVE ME, HELP! Hey... How'd You Get Away Up There?
5:56 *"Is there an insurance salesman in the house ?!??"*
😂😂😂😂😂
if you ask me those two should have their own show.
Due to this cartoon being in the public domain, making the characters public domain as well, you can do that.
@Webb_Studios Yes but only the cat version of these 2 not the mice version later on.
old cartoons are still the best productions
This is the first Warner Bros. cartoon that not only introduces us to the lovable and adorable little bird Tweety, but also, of course, the first time he says his signature line "I tawt I taw a puddy tat!", right here; 2:53.
that part is hilarious xD besides Tweety's famous line, there's also all that frantic slapstick jAjJjJJajJa
I saw this once over 45 years ago, and I've never forgotten that final joke, right down to the musical notes that went with the "lights" going out.
It breaks me they didnt do another Babbit and Castello cartoon. This looney tune was my favorite, it kills me man.
I wonder if Abbott and Costello saw this and what they thought of it. They must've gotten a kick out of it.
The only Tweety short in the public domain
Currently but unless copyright laws change, later this century the rest of Tweety's shorts will join this one by 2060. When it would be 95 years plus 1 since his last short was released. Currently you have to wait til 2040 before his next short hits public domain.
Well if only one Tweety short can be viewed by everyone without restriction, I'm happy it's his very best short.

Because it has more heart and soul!
Unlike the modern cartoons that are robotic and lifeless.
@@ComradeRagdoll Add also having to be Politically Correct and Health Minded. I remember witnessing "How Dry I am" song, yet, I didn't become an Alcoholic. Oh, sure, I like Beer . . . but I didn't drink to the point that I hurt people or myself. Did I witness cartoons that seem violent and derogatory towards women? Sure did. But I didn't become a Domestic Abuser and abhor the concept of women even getting hit in the first place. Did I see countless Looney Toons cartoons (of the 60s & 70s) where they smoked a Cigarette? Definitely. Did I become a Smoker? I have a Cigar during celebratory events at least once a year. But did I really invest in the Marlboro Man or Camel? Nope. And finally, did I witness the scantily clad dress of certain cartoon characters that borders on Victoria Secret Models? Oh, most definitely. But I didn't look at it as Women being a Object or any sort of disrespect in any way, shape or form. If anything? My wife of 33+ years appreciates the fact that I give input in how she dresses. I love Abbott and Costello, and this
I’m only 35 years old but I was watching this growing up. It was my favorite!😆
This one, the wacky wabbit, fresh hare and the rabbit who came to supper were my favourites as a kid.

Classic. One of my favorites.
One of the all time best cartoons ever made, I think.
The existence of this cartoon came across my brain cells this morning, watched this all the time back in the 90s when i were growing up, had a VHS tape of all sorts of cartoons (Wish i knew which tape it was), but this cartoon was on it... so many jokes went over my head then, that I get now, especially the "TURN OUT THOSE LIGHTS" part, which coincidentally, clicked in my head just this morning upon remembering.

Tweety: This witty pitty had woast beef.
Cat: BABBIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tweety: Well, what da you know? I wan out of pitties! 😏
Cat: Babbit?!?!
There's two cues I did noticed. One when we first see Tweety regularly that is, Someone's Rocking my Dream Boat. Then later in the scene when Tweety stole Catstello's apple, California Here I Come was playing.
Very subtle effect with the backgrounds, which go from daylight to sunset (red) to twilight to dark night as the cartoons moves along.
4:06 the cat calling Tweety a pigeon took me out 🤣🤣

My favorite part was the widdy piddies part, when Orson said, "This widdy piddy went to market. This widdy piddy tayed home. This widdy piddy had woast beef. Well what do ya know? I wan outta piddies". That was the most funniest part...
I still do that whistle to this day lmao.

Mel Blanc had a perfect Lou Costello impression. 😂 He was such a talent. No voice actor can hold a candle to the talent of Mel Blanc.
Tedd Pierce did an great job imitating Abbott in these shorts as well.
There's nobody like Mel...
He almost sounds like Daffy Duck.
Indeed. Billy West comes close.
That really isn’t fair.
