This is the first time I ever hear about Mr Sityodtong, and I'm in awe of his determination and pure warrior spirit. People like this change the world.
BTW, Chatri Sityodtong is his ring name. Chatri is his first name, but Sityodtong is the name of a fight camp based in Pattaya, Thailand. Sityodtong gym founded by a Muay Thai grandmaster Yodtong Senanan. "Sit" in Sityodtong means "a student (of)". Chatri Sityodtong then means "Chatri a student of (the grand master) Yodtong".
I was at ONE Denver and saw Chatri there. Such a well mannered and professional man. The crowd was electrifying and everyone chanted out Rodtang’s name when he called out Haggerty. That’s the moment I knew I wasn’t the only one who thought of ONE championships fighters as superstars.

This video actually put me to tears. Chatri's determination along with dealing with adversity and family issues was just so touching. I'm so glad he made it.
Yeah his story 2 +2 not adding up bottom of the class guy don't get in Harvard. Plus if you lived all your life in Thailand you don't loose accent for rest of your life
By far one of the greatest motivational videos on youtube. I literally can't remember when tears came out of my eyes for the last time. But man the ending to this video, Chatri's speach about suffering and the background music with small clips literally made my throat hurt. Can't describe the feeling. I wish you Patrick Gavia success in life and keep motivating the masses through such videos, so that "you can leave this earth better off than you found it "
This documentary lit the fire that I have been needing in my belly. I’ve been going thru a lot. For anyone who’s reading this. Life is suffering. But that feeling is how you know you’re alive. Just like how good times end. Bad times do too. Keep fighting. Good things will come as we adapt. Thank you for this documentary. It was very well done as always. And quite inspiring.

Wow. Never knew or heard about this guy at all. It's a breath of fresh air to see people driven from such an intense background. Thank you Mr. Patrick for articulating this masterpiece.
The guy is full of B.S! There is literally no way for a Thai poor kid to apply for a student visa in the U.S and above that pay for harvard's university fees
What did Chatri say to the tiger when it ambushed the love of his life? "Sityodtong down when I'm talking! You're messing with the wrong business, son".💪
This is definitely the best MMA Documentary ever, and I think Chatri should sell this story even more, because it's not only a great ad for ONEFC, but it also speaks to the majority of people around the world and so inspiring.
I respect this man for caring about the athlete and the story they carry with them. For every fighter, what we see is a percentage of the sacrifice they make. He’s trying to give people something real to enjoy
And for the man in this video, he sees money You dont treat your cashcows like shit, he knows what he is doing Fighting world is corrupt, this video sounds more like an add promoting this guy than actual investigative journalism.
@@SkreltNL Definitely not saying this guy is perfect especially with how he handled the Francis situation. I’m just saying that Dana White doesn’t even care this much about his fighters to portray them as “heroes”. Dana either uplifts you for being the company man or buries you for wanting your worth, whether it’s monetarily or promotionally. If he can’t have ‘the biggest draw’ then no one can have a quality product.
What an epic documentary! Well played Sir. I have new found respect for One and Chatri. Its impossible to say they don't deserve it and all the success to come 💪
The editing here is better that nearly all the pros. Somehow it manages to takes stories I'm fascinated by to just mildly curious about (like this one) and tells a story that I feel immersed in. I feel empathy, I feel proud, I feel motivated, I am moved to tears in nearly every video on this channel, all due to the editing and and production of how these stories are told. I am not exaggerating when I say, this is one of the best to ever do it on UA-cam.
I'm 13 minutes in the video and I've just realized this documentary made by a UA-camr! The video is higher production, quality and a lot more entertaining than the Netflix and the other streaming services documentaries. Thanks for the video Patrick
I got chills man. This is truly a man that fulfilled his purpose. Before this video I wanted to become like Dana White. This video definitely changed me.
That’s what I was thinking. Dana is obviously a genius businessman and that is admirable but this man from ONE is far superior. Never thought I’d say that about anyone else
I try not to give Dana too much credit.. he actively makes business decisions that harm the sport of MMA as a whole. Yea he’s rich but like… is that the only thing that matters?
@@spliffsforbreakfast this doc clearly shows just how ridiculous some of his decisions really are. Very unfortunate he requires drama from professional fighters so that he can line his pockets. I mean how much fkn money does one man need? His greed is truly on another level. Fighter pay is disgusting too. It would be nice to finally see another organization take over and treat with sport with integrity and respect
Change back. The UFC is the only high level MMA organisation that actually makes money, that is, makes a profit. I remember watching UFC thinking " nothing will ever be as big as this, it's the NFL of MMA, MLB of baseball, NHL of hockey " Boy was I wrong... Chatri doesn't even have a bonus limit per event, he can throw 5 bonuses in a row if it was 5 amazing fights.
Nothing will touch the UFC especially in the US. The closest was Pride and the UFC bought Pride. Bellator was next and all they did was sign UFC cast offs that were never going to hold UFC gold. ONE and the PFL are good but nobody gives them any recognition really.
I’ve been a MMA fan since the UFC started in the 90’s. Dana is lying to himself if he thinks ONE cannot compete with his organization. In many ways ONE is far superior.
Yes, but the ufc has seen competition like this before and has always survived. Not that i don't like one championship, but the ufc has way more experience in dealing with high-level competition within this industry
@@kameronjones7139 yeah, that experience being them just throwing money at their competition and buying them. Keep in mind that any enterprise Dana attempted to chase without the F bros failed miserably. One will continue to do fine, no doubt. Asian scene is huge and they tapped in there perfectly.

I love that he addresses the toxicity of many UFC Legends in the beginning. This is why I became a ONE Championship viewer. The fighters there aren't about any drama or hype, just fighting and respect. A mentality that is missing in the UFC.
What do you want to see instead? Press conferences, where fighters assure each other how much respect they have all the time? Well, that sounds riveting! If you don't care for the drama anyway, then just watch the fights. Avoiding press conferences is the easiest thing for any MMA fan. That's what I do. Just skip forwards to the fights and ignore everything else. Easy.
The ending watered my eyes a bit. This man’s story is so inspirational . He has a fantastic way of getting his messages across. Amazing documentary once again!
What an inspiring story. I started watching ONE when Mighty Mouse got traded from the UFC and I have been very impressed with their promotion. One thing I've never liked about the UFC is how Dana and the organization treats their fighters. It's all about generating pay-per-views by promoting toxic personalities and then throwing away fighters when they don't get with the program. It's refreshing to see the direction that ONE Championship is taking the fight game.
@@crazytimes1119turd!!! Every promotion is about making money. If not they wouldn't have investors. This guy is a proven lier. Don't watch a single TY Doc and think it's all fact and sunshine and roses
I doubt that the story is 100% accurate, but regardless, ONE is attracting top talent from around the world for a reason. Many fighters have chosen to sign with ONE instead of UFC because they said ONE made them a better deal and treated them with respect during the negotiations, which has to count for something. As far as the toxicity and American culture, yeah there's a lot of A-holes who like the drama, but I'd say there's as many or more who want to see fighters treated well, get paid more, and want to see good sportsmanship and character both in and out of the ring. But I'm just a stupid American, what do I know?

Incredible documentary. Have a feeling ONE is going to be the UFCs biggest competitor in the next few years. Especially the way they’re promoting things like the SLAP Competition on their main UA-cam page, constant problems with fighter pay and fighter treatment. Possibly when Dana White retires UFC will have their biggest threat.
As soon as the names we know or love are gone. Bruce Buffer, Joe Rogan, and even Dana are completely gone from the UFC. ONE will probably take over. Last few cards I’ve been leaning towards ONE already

Man, this could've been a Netflix doc in itself. I teared up when the dad left. Even before he said it I was thinking he felt ashamed and helpless he couldn't provide for his family. To lose everything from a good life to destitute that quickly is awful. I can't imagine the guilt trip he must've gone through during and after leaving his family. I give Chatri a ton of credit and I probably wouldn't even believe most of this if he was the only one saying it. It's highly sus to go from average to poor student in middle and HS and then some bridge college to Harvard Business School. The fact that he allowed his mom to live with him in his dorm and he was always looking at for her speaks volumes of his character. Just really odd how he started out as such an underachiever then suddenly is the most overachieving azn ever.
The majority of Asian cultures, the eldest boy in the family (if any) takes over the dad's role literally so whatever his age he's gonna have to grow up real quick because the future of his family clearly rest on his shoulders. In saying that quite a few have caved in under that amount of pressure but I'm glad Chatri had the maturity to understand and then do what was necessary for his family. If he didn't succeed we wouldn't have ONE championship right now 😂
I, 100% agree with this comment. My dad is Vietnamese. I don't know what it is for other cultures, but Asian fathers, I personally believe, held everything on their shoulders for their family. My father had to work for the family since very young, 14-15 years old, left high school to fend for his family during the Vietnam war. To this day, I can see it in his face, when there are days you can tell he's having a hard time to provide for us, but he keeps going.
@@VUVU-6H05T Yeah ít goes for majority of Asian cultures. The eldest boy or girl is practically the second mum/dad in the family so they take on the responsibilities if one of their parents passes away or like Chatri and one leaves the family. Your father must be a very honorable man, he just does what needs to be done without any complaints. My father grew up during the Vietnam war as well but he fled to Hong Kong and then got sponsored by a friend from Australia so I'm pretty lucky to be living in a free democratic country 🤣
Dana's mum gives us all the biscuits and tea on Dana, he is definitely not the father figure to look up to, but as a business man the dude is a savage and I give him massive props for that, he knows how to market the UFC to American, Australian, Canadian and European fans who he is more than happy to take money from through PPV and fight nights that he doesn't even care about the Asian market where some of the world's top fighters come from. Chatri is aiming to market One Championship to the world and that Amazon Prime deal says everything! The UFC lacks certain aspects of promotion thanks to Dana's IDGAF attitude.
i think its telling somg about Danas mom that she is willing to lose respect for ther succesfull son. A good mom would help you dig a grave after you killed someone without question. Unconditional love. A mom who uses these tactics to tell the world how she lost respect for you is clearly playing something.
im american but live in manila, and ive been to 3 one fc championships. man the production quality is sooooo good. done proper and everyone cares about the fighters, and they get paid well. they put on a performance. i got to see mighty mouse, holy shit he's super fast in real life. anyways here in asia, its about the fight, not the trash talk . trash talking can be fun, but its kind of frowned upon out here. its about honor.
I had been looking for a promotion that was nothing like the ufc, I'm glad I finally found One! Unfortunately, ufc still has fighters I like so I'm still watching but I haven't wasted my money on any PPVs in years so I'm happy about that!
Absolutely in tears at the end of this. My world fell apart during covid as a junior doctor, completely burning out, spiralling into depression and years struggling to get my license back and my life together. I'm almost out but I feel more burned out inside than ever before, like I lost the warrior spirit, that drive to get up in the morning. Incredible shame crushes me the moment I wake up and regret burns me to ashes until I sleep. This was a very timely video for me that came seemingly out of nowhere. Thank you Patrick and thank you Chatri for this wonderful example and message of hope. I used to chant the karate oaths in the dojo, "Endeavour, be faithful, seek perfection of character..." but on a deep level I never really associated fighting/warrior culture with living an honourable, worthwhile, loving life.
The joys of a simple mind.
Change back. The UFC is the only high level MMA organisation that actually makes money, that is, makes a profit. Until people understand that, all their "Oh, Dana does this..." and "Oh, One has a better..." and "Oh, blah blah blah" means nothing. One has never made a profit and loses millions. The rest of the promotions are either no tier for the chads of yesteryear like Bellator, but at least that - barely - makes a profit, unlike One, which is just playtime for the billionaires.
I remember watching UFC thinking " nothing will ever be as big as this, it's the NFL of MMA, MLB of baseball, NHL of hockey "
Boy was I wrong...

I mean you could double check with the internet

It’s so telling to compare Chatris relationship with his mum to Dana’s mum who has seemingly lost all respect for her son for what he’s become.

It would be cool to see someone dig into this story, instead of just repeating the same stories Chatri tells in all of his interviews.
Patrick this is the best motivational video I have ever seen. I am literally crying after watching this. Great work and thank you very much! Suffering and fighting for a greater goal is what makes us truly human. I believe this video will encourage people for great deeds.
First minute in, this is top tier editing. I already know this is going to be an absolute banger of a video. Huge respect
Edit: holy shit, that was like a movie. Phenomenal story telling and editing
this video had me feeling too many emotions at once, just the way how chatri became to what he was; the struggle, the doubt but still managing to push through and reach his passion and true goals, this story was just beyond perfection.
Exactly. Inspirational
This story is incredible!!! Inspirational!!! Mr Gavia, the way you put these videos together is maybe one of the best production values I've come across on UA-cam. Obviously this takes time so thank you. Truly one of the best viewing experiences!! Thank you, keep doing what your doing!
What a life story! Very emotional. Teaches you to be more grateful for everything ❤
Thanks for bringing this to us Patrick 🫡 Dana Jet Lamborghini McGregor had this coming…..Chatri is worthy custodian and spokesperson of the sport… His fighters can hopefully be looked up to by young fighters…. Loved his take about life, fight & suffering 🙏🏼
Normally I consume documentaries while on the go. Basically listening them like an audio book and occasionally watching the scenes during the interesting parts. But today I realized when I watch your videos I really wanna make time and watch the video in its entirety.
Yet another spectacular production. Thank for the content!
This is one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen
What an absolute legend. A beautiful story of overcoming and adapting. I’m glad to see how ONE has been successfully growing. Chatri deserves all the success, what an inspiring story.
Your documentaries never disappoint. It’s mystery to me you haven’t been discovered my some big network like, HBO, discovery or National Geographic Channel. You definitely deserve it. Your documentaries are short but absolutely amazing! Live every single one of them.
Amazon Prime is huge. It's a big network. He is on Amazon Prime
ONE of the greatest documentary, ONE of the greatest story, ONE who truly deserved our respect, ONE channel where I come back again and again. Never felt so good to click on a "Subscribe" button. Thank You!
Thank you for your story chatri, definitely inspiring and made me an even bigger fan of one championship ❤️
Inspirational
What an inspiring story, and he ended up doing what he was truly passionate about and has helped so many people that would have never been able to be so successful in sports and now the world is aware of how talented they are, i am glad he was so strong and fearless to determinately pursue his dream and i think he managed to make the world a bit better in the process.
I hope and pray you and ONE Championship take over the MMA world. Fighters deserve so much.with all the sacrifices they put in. And you understand what fighters go through and how you can help them. I wish you all the success in life. God blesses those who continue to never give up. 🙏🏽
WOW!!!! Awesome documentary. Thank you for sharing your life journey with us Mister Chatri. Love from South Africa
Another one that hits that soul Patrick! What a journey you brought us through, I have a deeper appreciation for Chatri knowing this story 🙏
Always a beautiful video Patrick. I remember being exposed to ONE through social media about 3 years ago and was incredibly shocked by the quality of the competition and the humbleness of each fighter. You can truly see how these fighters have been imprinted on by Chatri.
Wow! This was by far the most inspirational, heartwarming video I've ever seen on UA-cam. Great job Patrick! 👏 👏👏 Insane to see what this man went thru and how he rose above it. ❤
Gives me the most inspiration and hope I've had in months :)
Finally a channel with funny ads :D
Never skip a Patrick Gavia's ad
Patrick just never misses with any of his videos
I so desperately needed to watch this and hear from this man today. Literally today. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Man this is the third or fourth time ive genuinely felt a tear coming from one of your documentaries. Keep it up champ
Came here for controversy, ended up learning a valuable lesson. What a great story and unbreakable will this man has! 🔥 true warrior
Absolutely outstanding video, production and editing. What a masterful presentation of storytelling.
I absolutely love One FC, but admittedly, know very little about Chatri Sityodtong. Thank you for educating me about the man behind one of my favorite combat sports organizations, Mr. Gavia! Your documentaries are always incredible, and unsurprisingly, this one is no exception.
After seriously watching UA-cam for so many years !! This video is by far the best have seen , what a message and what a determination! Impossible is nothing if we believe in ourself and Love of Almighty. Cheers Chatri
