Carol, I loved this video. You honestly have the best tutorials, tips, tricks and suggestions I have come across. When I was just starting out in my jewelry journey 8 months ago I was OVERWELMED. I watched several tutorials by others and just couldn't follow along or grasp the technique. Then thank goodness I came across you!!!!

Re: crimp covers. I use a regular crimp plier to close the cover. I GENTLY sqeeze it the cover in front curved part of the pliers, turn it & squeeze again
Now it is closed & looks like a bead.

I’ve had crimp tube fail, but I think it was a cheaper/substandard tube. I was also learning, so I’ve discarded the tubes, and I’ve practiced my tube crimping. I also replaced my crimping pliers as I thought the one on wasn’t quite sealing its crimp.
Quality supplies are necessary! Going less costly can impact the outcome, I feel.

I have a tip to give back to you after your vacuum story, if you've never heard it: if you slip the sock of an old pair of pantyhose (or even an actual thin sock, honestly) over the hose of your vacuum, you'll be able to do a "first pass" and gather up all the tiny beads and earring backs that may have found their way into your carpet! :]

Thanks for answering these questions, I learned some new things! I always have a crimp tube fail when I use my magical crimping pliers, no matter how much I squeeze. And I can't get it nice and round either for some reason and I do go all the way around....I sometimes use it for small crimp covers though, it does help me get those nice and round 🤷♀.
Thank you for letting me know that. I wonder if it's the crimp tubes. I've found that I prefer a slightly larger crimp tube. Perhaps try that and see if it works. I also sometimes have to squeeze it lots of times, moving it slightly each time. You should be able to feel it squash down.

I thought I would share with you. My first teacher thought me that when you want to make a loop, but you have a long piece of wire that needs to be cut. To calculate this.eg. if your loop is in the middle of the round nose plier. The amount of wire required is measured from the tip of the pliers to where you want to make the loop. Hope this clear. 😊
Thank you Victoria. Do you mean up the pliers? Wouldn't that be different for different pliers because the pliers might be a different angle - in other words, some round nose pliers might be fatter at 5mm from the tip than others.

Carol, thanks for this! Have you ever used gemstone chips for making necklaces? I use gemstone chips like amethyst chips and coordinating Czech seed beads to make necklaces. How would you use gemstone chips in a necklace?
Thank you. No, I haven't used gem stone chips but I did have a necklace that used them. You would just use them like any other bead. Maybe use round beads with them to counteract the angles of the chips.

Thanks Lucy. It really depends on the necklace. I would usually use a piece of Tiger Tail but if the beads are heavy, then I would use a 49 strand Soft Flex or Beadalon like I showed in this video.
