We live in the St. Louis area and are planning to go to the 2020 orchid show this February. This was a terrific walkthrough and gave me a great idea of what we can expect to see. The orchid is my husband's favorite flower so we're really excited!
thanks for watching Dave.yeah Missouri has a GREAT botanical garden and this is only one room. THere are several other complexes and hothouses on the grounds which are very large.
When i lived in Seattle there was a very nice orchid show at the convention center downtown. i will never forget that because it was my first orchid show and there were many vendors there. This was in the late 90s so maybe they no longer do it which would be ashame cause the PNW is a GREAT place to grow orchids. Thanks for watching
TD Moore great is sweet lovely walker for Missouri Botanical Garden Orchid show 2018 thank you for excellent tour, know a orchid and name of each specie one 2019 amazing for family and friends
yeah i need to soon..but until i get things cleaned up and all my dead stuff removed i just can't...i'll try to somehow give updates on some new plants i have received since then and certainly the orchids i just bought over the weekend
thanks for watching William..yeah i got there bout 11 and left round 1ish..had to get over to Shaved Duck to get some BBQmmmm mmm mmm but yes was a good show but i felt somewhat repetitive with their plants...would be interesting to go back in a month and view it again.
yeah you know i didn't think the variety was there on display as there was in past years i went. Maybe in a couple weeks if i went it might be so because i know they take stuff out and replace with new plants. I just found many of the plants were repeated throughout especially the big white and pink Cattleyas. thanks for watching :-)
it was awesome meeting you and it's funny because right before you said something i was thinking i know that voice...Can't wait to view your haul(s) hehe..i still can't believe so many passed that big Cattleya from Natts with 4 spikes yet to open and the fragrance. Must've been some GREAT orchids there Friday. Thanks for watching!
my greenhousoe is MIA....still in the poor shape it was following my Italy trip in which i lost so many plants. I finally did start to water things last month after not being in there most of December. and hope to (sob sob) begin the task of cleaning up all my dead stuff and getting things back in order...so i hope to have a video update sooner than later. thanks for watching Roger
That will be a hard task! But I bet with all the dead stuff cleared out it will look good again and the interest will return. I have still yet to go away for more than a few days at a time - the most so far is 3.
well had i turned on my heater and had it running on low while i was gone none of my tragedy wouldve happened. But i it something i have to get over and just forge on which i will once i get everything back in order which will be soon.
well i don't live in Missouri but it's alot warmer in Missouri than where i live in IL...but you can grow orchids in your window in any State and have success
Thanks for the reply. I am in a very arid part of the country. Some humidity would make mine happier, was just wondering (I guess) about humidity. I lived a summer in the Chicago area (Waulkeegan). It is wonderful/green there in some parts. Best wishes!
well i got a really nice Cattleya i can't believe people didn't pick up before me....has two spikes in full bloom and another 4 coming on in bud. I purchased 2 Latouria dendrobiums ...a very nice rhodosticum and Dendrobium Bill Takamatsu. a Paph. venustum 'alba' and i got 6 seedlings that were 6 for 20$. some Richard Mueller brassavola crosses...a Maxillaria picta and another one.. ..plus i got 2 very nice Dendrochilums. but i will try to make a short video of what i got later today so i will post it tomorrow . thanks for watching!

Absolutely beautiful. Ty so much.
Nice video of show. I like that you just had the natural sounds in the background and also showed the names of the orchids. Nice! Thanks
yes i like that as well..just keep it natural...the sounds of people talking and the water from the fountain. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, the soft talking and the water from the fountain esp. were good.

This is a wonderful tour! Is this a yearly event in St. Louis? Unlike many orchid related events, St. Louis might be close enough for me to attend.
Nice! I didn't get there until 2 or so, but stayed till 5. Working on my little video as I type this!

So is Missouri a good place to grow orchids? I am moving there in about 6 months, and have about 50 orchids of different kinds.
