He's $80 on amiami so not as terrible price wise. But honestly with how perfect the aesthetic is in this line so far i think its worth getting them, especially if you're a big fan of the series. I missed out on sephiroth the first time around but I'm for sure getting the reissue once its announced.
Hey any way to save anything on these is welcome. I know for people who are less experienced the import side seems a little less clear, but it usually is cheaper overall. Even though you might pay more for shipping. I appreciate you spotting that. As these do look so, so good! And I did get a pre-order in for the Sephiroth when I got the Cloud, so maybe stay tuned and I'll have that? I think it said next January... 😬😬
@@toylips yeah getting them through import sites is the way to go sometimes. Saves you around $20 for most figures and sometimes more if you combine them. It’s crazy how much they hike the prices in some sites.
I've wanted this figure since 1997. My brother and I saved up money all summer and fall doing chores, forgoing trips to the mall and movies and finally, we were able to buy a Playstation. This was my favorite game for years and years and I've always wanted a 6" action figure to add to the shelf.
Then they announced him and I immediately knew I'd never own one. First, the price point. Unreal. Second, the extreme lack of accessories. For $130, he should come with, at minimum, multiple face plates. Standard, stern, smirk, yelling. The buster sword is the most iconic, but he has a ton of awesome weapons that should be included as well, at the very least the Ultima weapon.
Then there's the realization that every figure is gong to be $130. Even if I just wanted Cloud and Sephiroth, that's already half way to a PS5. But we're collectors, we can't just stop at 2. Barret, Tifa, Aeries, Red XIII and the rest, all are necessary at the end of the day.
At the end of the day... this release was heartbreaking. Maybe Jada will somehow get the license and do more for $25 than Square is willing for $130.
It really is crazy. It's like the only reason it's priced that way is because they can. I like him, but like you're saying, it's just not near enough for the price.

It's a Cloud tax. There's just nowhere else to get them like this. I don't know why it took me this long to figure that out. I do like having him but it would have been cooler at half price. Maybe grab him a wheelchair 🤙
I agree with all the faults but am also glad to have an OG Cloud figure in 1/12 scale and can't wait for the other characters. It is sad that SquareEnix doesn't offer these figures at a lower price range, but I understand they are a business and taking full advantage of owning the figure rights. Hopefully we will get Chrono Trigger figures in this scale!
Yeah like it really pencils out for them to sell a few at this price than to sell (likely a few more) at a lower price? I'm thinking about the redone super Saiyan Vegeta I got at Target for 35. Articulated every bit as well, and comes with three face plates, seven extra hands and extra arms! Since they are Toriyama designs, maybe they could license out the Chrono Trigger stuff... 🙃🤞
How the actual FUCK do these mediocre looking figures cost literally twice as much as sh figuarts figures? Square must be trying to kill this line. They did exactly the same thing with the play arts kai line. They used to sell for $40, and then they were like $150-200

For Everyone's information, If I were you I will wait after the wave ends. Bring arts has a habit of after 1-2 years it will go down in price talking like 60 to 70 bucks. Highly recommended to wait instead, Patient is the key

Yeah I guess the designs back then were just simpler. You couldn't see that much detail on PS1.

Is the digital code in the box?
This is the regular release and does not feature a code. The digital plus edition, exclusive to the Square Enix online store is supposed to come with a physical ticket inside with the code for the digital version. That one is 160 American and is still in stock on their site. 🤙
I collect the PAKs, so this isn't for me, but it's still disappointing how this figure doesn't 100% capture the original. It just looks like some kid's fan art.
I like the filming setup btw. Colors look great, good lighting, nothing washed out. Very easy to appreciate the subtleties of the figure.
Thanks! That's totally my goal to isolate and appreciate the figure. And I like having Cloud this size, but these are definitely disappointing when they cost about as much as the play arts.
i hope one day the rules wil changes about high taxes and crap... just like Amazing Yamaguchi :( so sad that they are always sooo expansive...

See this I didn't know! I have the sephiroth on pre-order but I've held back on the rest. I'm not sure about an eventual price drop just because there's nowhere else to get these. But I so badly want to be wrong. These prices are crazy...

I feel like many of your complaints about the articulation design aren’t really warranted. Most of the design is fairly solid just nothing special. The hips falling off at this price point I agree is bad but ball hinges aren’t that bad in terms of design and the shoulders and shoulder pad are designed about as well as they can be. Also; Ball pegs and ball hinges are two separate things. This figure has both so it can kinda confusing when you’re explaining the articulation.
For sure I'm complaining a little more about the articulation than I wanted to. I don't mean to make out like it doesn't work, I just don't think it's very intuitive. And even though he crumbles into like five pieces when I try to move the leg, he goes back together! I just feel like they're sort of designing their action figures in a bubble. Bring Arts is notoriously overpriced and low quality, they've had all the same issues with previous figures hell they've lowered in quality lately, comparing what I've seen of cloud to bring arts I own like, Fei Fong Wong who went for 6,800 yen back in 2018 his articulation is pretty horrendous, honestly one of the worst figures I've owned, the legs keep popping off and it happens so much that the legs get looser and looser to the point where a piece of paper can stand vertically better, although he comes with an alt head, 9 pairs of hands, and an accessory, QC was bad too, another bring arts that I can actually praise now is the Weltall Bring Arts he retailed for 8,800 yen in 2019 and his articulation is honestly, much much better, double jointed legs just a fantastic figure, so big and heavy, he came with 10 pairs of hands, and 2 swappable die cast feet to balance, honestly one of my favorite figures, its just a horrible thing to see Square just gatekeep their licenses and force people who want figures of their characters to pay this amount of money for such low quality, hell they are releasing Red XIII, Barret, and Sephiroth for the same price and all of which look mediocre in articulation Red XIII especially being egregious for having nothing and being so small for that price. sorry if this sounds like such a long rant but as someone who collects figures and merch who also loves something niche like Xenogears, Square has really been giving everyone the short end of the stick with overpriced model kits and figures and a bad selection of characters, they will gatekeep their licenses whether they will milk the license or keep it dead only for a quick anniversary merch release, they will do anything to get as much money as possible from the franchise, hell they even started making nendoroid like figures. I'm just gonna stop the rant here it's getting too long. TLDR Square stinky doo doo.

Manwehile this year i got the Cloud and fenrir from gametoys, which is killing it (Yeah, i understand theres a huge price gap... but come on, if you are to pay 180 for this, rather go for the big stuff), but it is stupid how much love and details you can get from a 3rd party, and meanwhile, these are the official ones...
I got this ordered too and man, it feels bland. I still want them because of the more "classic" look, but come on... square enix is full of shit.

What a way to screw up such a great design
It's super weird. I want to say do whatever you want, but there's no reason for them to charge this much and be so out of touch.
I bought this figure, it looks nice but you were way too nice towards the articulation. It's horrendous. I can barely move the legs before they pop off the pegs and the waist swivel sucks too. Literally every other import company; sentinel, figuarts, mafex, yamaguchi, even fucking Figma have superior articulation and cost half what this shit does. Plus those companies actually pack accessories with their stuff too. Square easily could have included a ton of alternate weapons for the outrageous price they're charging.
It sucks they have a stranglehold on the these lines of figures because literally any other company could do better for half the cost. But if you want figures of the FFVII characters you literally have no other choice.
Pro tip - these are priced around $80 in Japan. Even with shipping, it's still cheaper than the $130 domestic shops are selling them for. Import and save some money on these lazy pieces of crap.
😂 dude I know! Like I handled it for 5 seconds and it's in five pieces... I just I stepped away and I felt like I was a little harsh. But I like to do them when I'm fresh and passionate. And all that craziness just shouldn't be acceptable at the price they're charging.
