I have an issue though, sometimes Lasius Niger Queens, no matter how much you feed them, just become skinnier and skinnier until they die, what causes this?
Depending on location, I would always suggest whatever species you find outside where you live as you can release them if you would like to. However most disagree and say you should get Lasius niger
yea, i would also reccomend the lasius or messor. but you could also go for a medium growing camponotus species such as camponotus cinctellus which i have and they get majors but if you are too worried about bigger ants i would stick to lasius or the messor.
Yes, camponotus and lasius are probably the easiest ants to start a colony with.... I'd also recommend Crematogaster or Solenopsis which are a little more complex but still very beginner friendly!
@@JakesFarmYou have to post some video from AntCon! I've wanted to go for years now but a flight to and stay in Europe isn't cheap! And I'm the cheapest person ever! 😂
The colony looks great! Take your time. Everyone deserves a break every now and then. I hope everything turns out well with your exams! ❤
