As a bird lover my entire life (65+years), I am so envious (in a good way) that you have such amazing bird-life in your beautiful space! ♥️ I love your choices of shade plants, hellebores and epimediums being two of my favorites; I have about 4 different epis and over half a dozen hellebores. If I had more shade, I’d have dozens of each!
You are so kind. I love watching the birds too. Every year I endeavour to feed a robin by hand, some years more successful than others. I’ve become quite a collector of hellebores I just can’t resist, but it’s my first ever epimedium. If they flourish I’ll definitely grow more as they are so delicate 😊
@@thequarrygardener5578 In my garden, (KY, USA) epimediums are veeeery sloooow growing. I love them anyway even though they can be quite pricey. A tip I read is to take small root cuttings from established plants and replant them a short distance from the original plant. The clump will appear larger than it really is in the short term and it will continue to enlarge as time goes by.
Welcome!! Australia wow, thanks for subscribing. I can only imagine how great it must be to have so much sunshine to grow plants, I’m very jealous. Here in rural Northumberland even in the summer months sunshine is often in short supply, thankfully I mostly garden in shade. Hope you continue to watch and enjoy the videos.
Oh my goodness! That owl at the end was just fantastic! Such beautiful scenery! And the new garden bed looks great. Hellebores are one of my favorites. I just planted 6 last year, but I don't have any epimedium yet....will definitely have to add that into my woodland garden soon!! Happy gardening:)
Thanks so much! Apologies for not replying to your earlier comment I'm still getting used to this wonderful world of UA-cam and discovering where all the comments are hidden!. Stumpery sounds a brilliant idea, if I add one I'll give you the credit :) Sadly, just spent the last two days clearing up after the worst storm I can remember. We have lost a number of trees and will spend the next few weeks trying to get the garden back to normal. I love to hear from other gardeners like yourself and your gardening projects, especially when you are so far away. Glad that you liked the Owl at the end.
@@thequarrygardener5578 oh no....so sorry about the storm! My prayers for a quick and easy clean up. Hopefully you have some helpers:) Definitely take advantage of some of the fallen limbs to start your stumpery:) Just find a good place to pile them up and fill in around them with woodland plants in the Spring!
Thank you for a nice video! You seem to have as much wildlife in your garden as I have in mine! I´m planning one or more woodland plantings in my new garden, so that´s how I found your account. My intention is to document my progress in the garden on my channel. Regards from Sweden!🌳🌿
Hello and welcome from Northumberland in the UK. This was one of my very first UA-cam videos, hopefully my presenting skills have improved over the months 😊. I’ve just subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching your videos and following your progress. One of the main reasons I continue to document my progress with videos on UA-cam is to connect with like minded gardeners worldwide, it’s amazing how we all have similar problems no matter where in the world we garden. Good Luck with your garden and your UA-cam channel.
@@thequarrygardener5578 Yes, gardeners all around the world should stay connected. We can lern so much from each other! Thanks for subscribing to my channel, hope to see you ther soon! 🙂
Beautiful. Love the birds, so peaceful.

That’s a great tip, I’ll give that a go 😊
