Hope I am not pissing you off.😀
Thanks Mike, love your video's your engine bay looks awesome as does the rest of the car . almost wish I was your neighbor so I could help with your build. Can't wait to hear it start up.
A heads up if you want to do this. Make sure you order the exact Aeroflow part show in this video. AF64-2074S. The ones listed on the auto plumb site are different and do not fit the swivel housing. I'm checking with Autoplumb to see if they have this in stock. Aeroflow is in Australia so keep this in mind if you go to order this directly from them. As a follow up. They do still have this part but is not on website. They had a fitment issue with the black ones on some non-Aeroflow housings. But, the silvers didn't seem to have the issue.
Ha! Me too! I just have the bottom hose, and heater hose left to do... which is probably the most challenging. Not to worry, I'll video that too! Glad it gave you an idea... Go Niners!
I think its funny how you realized there was too much chrome. I realized this on my car and went back and removed some of it also. The chrome needs something to contrast and reflect off.
Nice video, I’ve cut Aeroflow full flow 90’s in half and let’s just say they were terrible, alloy isn’t alloy and the radius was all wrong. I’ve since changed to Speedflow, it’s an Australian owned family business and used in all the top motorsports teams here. I even buy the bar ends by the kg and make solid alloy bushes from them. A beautiful billet alloy they use. In short, I’ve redone my whole fuel system twice. I do like those radiator fittings. Brings me to another item fabricators would rather use Speedflow weld on bungs. I have several in my build and my fabricator will only use these. The other brand, they splatter dye to impurities in the alloy, alloy not alloy, hope this helps in some way. If you wish to communicate let me know and I can show you my engine and fittings.
Thanks, and thanks for the tip! I love finding the best of the best... I'll check out Speedflow. I'm on Instagram if you want to share pics... same as here, FastMontysGarage. See ya!
Thumbs up brother the radiator hose is good for the setup you have for my preference I love the original way Pontiac have the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing faces up and then goes down to the top of the radiator but to match your setup it looks good keep up the great work looks cool
That scratch you ended up with on fitting when tightening is why I bought the nylon vise jaw inserts that earls makes for the AN fittings.figure spending the type of money it takes to make all you own lines with braided hose and all the AN fittings needed to make them I wanted to have best results I could possibly get without having a chance of scratching or marring the fitting.think the cost difference between the aluminum jaw inserts and the nylon was like 18 cents so why not pay a few extra pennies to have the extra assurance to not scratch your fittings.obviously you can still scratch them with the wrenches but thats a chance you gotta take.lol.btw awesome looking project you got going on there man.im in process of starting a frame off resto on a 71 chevy C10 for my uncle.i keep pissing him off by making him spend more money then he wanted cause I want to use the best of everything where he's wanting to do it as cheap as possible.i told him if I'm going to do the project I'm doing the best way I can with the best parts so end result is as good as it can be.dont think he realizes what it actually takes to have a quality job done when it comes to rebuilding an entire vehicle.he wanted to try having whole truck done for 10k or less.i laughed and told him I'd more than likely have 10k or more just into body work, prep and paint and that he better start thinking of spending more like 30 to 40k on build plus he wants to go with old school carbureted.told him i think it would be better to go with newer LS motor thats fuel injected.think he sharted his pants when I said what reality cost would be to do it rite compared to what he was thinking.lmao.now mind you im doing all work myself at no costs with exception when truck is done he's buying me a Suzuki TL1000 sport bike(maybe 4k for bike so i think thats a damn good deal)for all my time and work.
I didn't know nylon grips were available. Very cool. That scratch was because I didn't have the vice set up correctly. Oh well... ha ha. Thanks for the comment!
In my opinion, slightly slower coolant flow... but, that means the coolant stays in the radiator longer, getting cool. So, it shouldn't change the performance of your cooling system negatively. Again, just my opinion. Thanks for the comment!
It looks like you have a non stock power steering setup. I've been looking at those lately as they look so much better, maybe do a vid on that as it doesnt look real easy, and getting the correct parts can be daunting. But this one is great if I ever get my car running I will be installing Auto Plumb for sure.
Yeah Dan, I have a Hydro Boost system, which has a ton of challenges of it's own. If I update my Master Cylinder, I'll cover those crazy idiosyncrasies in that video. And, yes, the Autoplumb connectors are awesome. Thanks!
Awesome! I'm going to do the same... so, eventually I'll have a part two to this vid. (It's a little more difficult on my timing chain cover, but we'll see!) Thanks for the comment!
Great video, man my engine side temp house routes under a small Wieand 144 supercharger. Trying to figure out if how you did the rad side would work for my engine side. I may end up trying it. Thanks
Absolutely! But, I'd try to find the actual AN fitting for the thermostat housing as that would be slightly smaller than the adapter. But, yes, you can do the adapter trick as long as they have that fitting size. Have fun!
Good question, William. I have no idea? My guess is you'd need to be able to find an aftermarket thermostat housing that either has a screw in nipple, like mine. OR, an OD that the AN adapter would work on. Please let us know if you make it work, and what worked for you. Thanks, Monty.
@@williammercer8839 Might want to check the "CSR" link in the description, as they have a ton of different housing. Your fall back would be to ask AutoPlumb for suggestions. Thanks!
I have a 2003 ford expedition, the line is broken inside of the fitting and the bolt around it is strip so I have no way to take it out, is there any hose strong enough that I can use over the old fitting to make a new line over the old one for the high pressure line, or do you have any suggest what can be done in such horrible situation? Thank you
Thanks! It's an Orion lift, I think? I don't think they're in business anymore. If you're searching for one, make sure it's American Made, as they're very robust. Check out Advantage Lifts, as they're made in the USA. Best investment I've ever made!
You do know the motor moves around a lot when running. I can see those fittings loosening from time to time. especially with a stick the torque will pull on those connections every time you put your foot in it!!
I do... and do you know that the minimum hose length is 6"? That's to allow for the compliance needed to accommodate for the block dancing around. The longer the hose, the better, Thanks for the comment!
Everyone seems to have their own method of cutting Hose, but mine seems to work pretty good for making the cut straight with minimum fraying. I just put a standard wormgear hose Clamp on each side of the cut line, spacing them just a few thousands more than the cutting wheel I cut the hose with. If there is any fraying, file or grind it off before removing the Clamps. Must be idiot-proof 'cause it's worked for me every time.
Yeah, you have to select your own components for your build... check the description in this video, as there are around 10 links to different parts I used. Have fun!
Thanks Bill! I think all in, it was around $250. Ironically, no, Summit doesn't have much of a selection for size 20 AN fittings. I got everything from AutoPlumb.com Thanks for watching!

What size did you use on top and bottom? 16 or 20? My original hoses are 1 1/2 on top and 1 3/4 on bottom. And I have 69 Camaro with mechanical high flow water pump, will this be ok? Thanks. Also. You explain well.
Thanks Jerry... I have size 20's on top and bottom. The bottom was a lot more challenging for me cuz I didn't have the exact water pump adapter, so I welded it on. Here it is, if you'd like to see that episode... ua-cam.com/video/Qx-5EnEnynE/v-deo.html If I were you, I'd start with the top hose only. @@FastMonty Thanks for quick reply. I am no mechanic. My car is at a builder. Doing show type car. So 20 on top gives plenty of flow. And 20 on bottom won't be enough? Anything you could recommend on bottom for show type? Sure wish the Autoplumb would work on bottom also, but I don't want to risk anything either.
@@jerrywag5475 20 will be fine for both. The issue is the 1 3/4" might be too big for the autoplumb adapter, which is why I had to weld mine on. Mine are both 20 and working fine. My enough is now 470 cu in. Which is a good test.

I don't know how to do it.. and more than likely I will take it to a shop and have it professionally weld it. TiG weld, but I saw your video AN with no welding.. and im going to run a electric water pump.. no mechanical.. so will have coolant running non stop in my engine to keep the heat down.. but will the product from your video handle all that heat stress...at the circuit autocross.. .

I was gonna do this to my car but no one makes a thermostat housing with AN threads on my car😢, also isn't it pointless to have an adaptor that could leak, isn't the point of AN fitting to have a no leak system?

Ha! Good question... most of the time Buicks, Olds, and Pontiacs, play nice together. :) But, I'm not an expert. The important step is finding a thermostat housing that's compatible with the 20 AN thread adapter. OR, a housing that has a straight nipple where you can use the AutoPlumb adapter on that end too. If I was in your shoes, I'd order a couple different housings from Summit racing, and test the bolt patterns. If they don't fit, you can return them. Hope that helps.
Good question... I'd have to say, it'll most likely fit. But, it would be best to get the nipple dimensions on each end, then call AutoPlumb. They'll hook you up with the right solution, if one exists. Thanks for the comment, and good luck!
Since you cut the grip tape from overlapping it really doesn't matter how you put it on. Aft side, clockwise? Front side counterclockwise? Think about it. They wanted the tape to overlapp in the direction of tightening
Totally agree... in actuality, you don't have to cut it, and it doesn't matter which way you put it on. The force applied by the strap wrench is more than enough to keep the tape in place. I think the manufacturer was just over cautious with the instructions. I'll try and mention that when I film the lower hose install, which is more difficult for my engine. Thanks for the comment!

Hope I am not pissing you off.😀
No worries John... I'm not worried about torque flex, I have 800 hp engine mounts, which keeps the engine super tight.
Thanks Mark!

Very detailed install video, I really appreciate that you took the time to explain everything 🙌
Thanks Houston! I just did the bottom hose too... a little more difficult. Here's that video; ua-cam.com/video/Qx-5EnEnynE/v-deo.html Thanks again!

Great question Albert! It seems a little small... BUT, I would head over to Autoplumb's website and see if they have it. Let us know how it works out!
Very cool product Monty. I like it!
Thanks Brother, I agree!
I think its funny how you realized there was too much chrome. I realized this on my car and went back and removed some of it also. The chrome needs something to contrast and reflect off.
Ha! Exactly... I'm almost there! bahahahaaa thanks for the comment!

Question:-20AN is about 1-1/4” hose.If my regular radiator hose is 1-1/2” will there be a restriction in coolant volume flow?
Thanks
In my opinion, slightly slower coolant flow... but, that means the coolant stays in the radiator longer, getting cool. So, it shouldn't change the performance of your cooling system negatively. Again, just my opinion. Thanks for the comment!
@@FastMonty I see how many variables you tested and really the results surprised me.

Thanks!
Perfection but Is engine shake going to break the neck off the radiator?
Good question, and that's the beauty of it... there's compliance in the hose AND the adapter. So, no risk. Thanks for asking!
Hi the radiator hose looks very nice wondering the hose will fit in 1.5” side
Yes, Autoplumb has 1.5" adapters. You can print out the actual adapter to make sure you have room around that nipple... Good luck!
Now all you have to do is flush it...😁. Cool video man.
Thanks Brother... can't wait to do my lower hose. Which is wayyy more difficult, for me. That video is coming. Thanks again,
I plan to to this for heater hose and Rad hoses also thanks for the tips
Awesome! I'm going to do the same... so, eventually I'll have a part two to this vid. (It's a little more difficult on my timing chain cover, but we'll see!) Thanks for the comment!
If anybody doing this with a 351w ford scot drakes swivel makes life easy trow it the fitting on it the trash an 20 to orb 20 and 5/8 npt to an 10
Thanks Ashton... I don't know Ford's, but does the diameter really drop down by 1/2? ie size 20 to size 10 on one hose?
Great video, man my engine side temp house routes under a small Wieand 144 supercharger. Trying to figure out if how you did the rad side would work for my engine side. I may end up trying it. Thanks
Absolutely! But, I'd try to find the actual AN fitting for the thermostat housing as that would be slightly smaller than the adapter. But, yes, you can do the adapter trick as long as they have that fitting size. Have fun!
How would this be applicable for a Oldsmobile 350 Rocket?? In my 72 Cutlass, the thermostat housing has a bypass that goes directly to the water pump.
Good question, William. I have no idea? My guess is you'd need to be able to find an aftermarket thermostat housing that either has a screw in nipple, like mine. OR, an OD that the AN adapter would work on. Please let us know if you make it work, and what worked for you. Thanks, Monty.
@@FastMonty Is there anything available from the company that provided you with everything you needed??

Ha! Thanks!
What grease you used sir
I don't recall using grease... can you be more specific?
Use alcohol prep pads for small cleanup jobs.
Ohhh good idea. Thanks!
Cool video. I wonder if these will work for a LS swap?
Thanks Nick! The answer is YES! Have fun... and thanks for the comment.
Yup, that would work too. Thanks!
Great video, but I can't find the kit. Do you have a link to that kit?
Yeah, you have to select your own components for your build... check the description in this video, as there are around 10 links to different parts I used. Have fun!

Where do you get this hose ? All the ones I have found are fuel line hoses which are too small for radiator
