A glass call is higher pitched, and they require more maintenance than a slate call also. I have a slate over glass in a walnut pot with an assortment of strikers which can sound like anything from a young hot hen to an old granny hen.
@@PaulOgie It's made by Tom Teaser and comes with a bloodwood striker, but turkey calls are kinda like guitars, what sounds good to one person may not be acoustically suitable for another. I guess it's more of a personal choice in what sounds good for you and works for turkeys also.
And just to add, I've been using the Tom Teaser for 7 seasons now and have filled my tags every year, my arsenal consists of only two calls, the Tom Teaser and a WoodHaven double-sided boxcall, if that don't bring 'em running nothing will.
@@wizardofahhhs759 this might sound kind of stupid, but I always get my turkey with a MAD glass that I got years ago, but I don't like the high maintenance glass and something is off about the sound, but I always get my bird with it. I guess I shouldn't complain, but I've tried a slate or two (not in the woods) that I really liked, but I don't know who made them. Thanks for the video.
@@PaulOgie I don't like glass either, it's too high maintenance and to my ears it's to high pitched, maybe good for windy days but I like slate because it's easy to maintain, but oils from your fingers can eventually ruin it so you have to make sure you only handle it by the pot. Really if you find one that you like and it works for you that's all that matters.
Glad to hear, I went with a slate call this year....is much softer and lower tones.
I am looking forward to seeing more videos for the 2019 Spring Season. I enjoy them.
Thanks again for the great advice
