- LIVE from the Senate Floor on 502B(c): It shouldn't be controversial for Congress to ask for information on how U.S. arms are being used in Israel’s military campaign in Palestine. I am LIVE NOW as the Senate votes on my resolution which would do just that.
Thank you Bernie. It is high time that Congress (that supposedly represents us) catches up with the rest of us and our outrage at the horrific war crimes and crimes against humanity being committed by Israel in Gaza and demands that our money be used to help and assist, not maim, murder and starve babies. Thank you for this, even if it is a painfully small step.

@@laughingdog747 Wanting both US and international law to be adhered to is what any civilized person would seek. No one gets to pick and choose which countries can violate the laws. If the law is not applied equally to all parties it is useless. Israel is required to abide by both US and international law, just as every other country is required to do. The bill simply asks for a review of how the weapons we provide are used. If Israel is following the law that will be the end of it. I suspect you’re concerned that Israel is, in fact, violating the law so you’d prefer it not be seen. Every country that receives military aid from the US agrees to use the weapons in accordance with international law. Most countries are required to provide an audit on weapons and aid each quarter in order to get the next quarter’s funding. This isn’t singling Israel out, it simply requiring the same standards that other countries comply with.

This is a military action against a hostile force, Hamas, who, it is historically proven, has conducted terror attacks for two decades on a neighbor who, also proven, has done more to aid and encourage their growth than any other nation on Earth. The only intended target is Hamas. The civilian deaths would be much lower if Hamas had come out and fought instead of hiding under apartments, scools, and hospitals.
Both the Houthi and Hamas brought this on themselves, and now they whine when the check comes due.

You could fairly judge him using a sort of lame marketing like term “humanitarian pause” and not the more emphatic “ceasefire” and constantly prefacing his comments with condemnation for Oct 7 (likely so he wouldn’t be instantly shut down and ymmv on whether that’s a good idea) - but his position has been consistent and he’s been advocating for it.
Personally this matters to me more than the term he used even if I personally HAD also preferred him to use the straight up “ceasfire” term from the get-go
