    My dad’s favorite dish smoked mullet. He use to can the mullet and it was a game changer! Was looking for both canned mullet and smoked mullet dip videos in honor of my dad on Father’s Day ❣️He’s not with us anymore yet I’m paying my respects to my dad’s memory this Sunday. Ty :) Happy Father’s Day! ❤

    Good man Andrew. Took me back to my boat building days on the west coast of Florida. We used to go down to the bay in Sarasota at lunch and net some mullet and take them back to the shop to smoke after lunch. That evening we would go out and dip a bucket or two of blue crabs and steam them up. At the shop the next day, we would set up a full sheet of plywood on a pair of sawhorses and cover it with newspaper. The crabs and smoked mullet , some made into dips, was spread out and the gang dove in for lunch. Great eating for sure.
    Thanks for the reminder,
    John

    I have the same smoker. I added a heat baffle under the cooking grate that creates an almost even temperature. I also took a small aluminum dryer vent tube, and connected it to the stack and run it down to the cooking grate. I also use the bbq guru temperature control.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  3 роки тому

      I hate to mess with mine, that aluminum pan made the grate temperature almost perfect all the way across. It's obvious very little engineering goes into smokers. A few modifications at the factory would make them perfect.

    Luckily I just ate or I'd be starting to smoke something lol. Thats my next smoker but sadly around here the "Oklahoma Joes" smoker they sell is very thin metal and doesnt seem too last per the reviews. My Wife got me a Camp Chef vertical smoker years ago and its been blown over, tipped over and still works great, problem is limited to what you can put in due to the size. We've smoked Easter hams, smaller turkey, even some Lake trout (Steelhead) and all have turned out great. Thanks for the recipe!

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  3 роки тому +1

      Luckily mine is 1/8 inch steel, that's rather thick for a big box smoker. I'll build me a real one eventually.
