    Oh my gosh! Finally found the reason I was struggling with high notes. I had stopped playing flute for 3 years and I remembered high notes were easier to play before but now I have been struggling and even when I do get a high note it does not sound well. Thank you!!! I just tried this while playing and high notes have never been this nice for me! I still need to practice this of course but I’m so glad I found my mistake.
    Thank you so much.

    What is the piece in the beginning of this video? It's super recognizable and it is driving me crazy that I can't figure it out lol. Also super super helpful thank you for all the tips!

    Opening up my teeth really helped! So should i keep it like this across the whole range of the flute or just the third octave? It would be nice if you could reply. Im a self learning flutist

    • @DoctorFlute
      @DoctorFlute  3 роки тому

      Hi Noelaxe! Your teeth should be about a finger and a half in the first octave. As you go higher your teeth will naturally close somewhat but don't let them. Keep them open as much as possible (but not as far apart as in the first octave.).

    • @noelgeorge9443
      @noelgeorge9443 3 роки тому

      @@DoctorFlute Thats kind of what I tried doing. But in the first octave the low notes would not come out properly when I keep it that open. Sometimes it even jumps to the 2nd octave. I guess I'll try closing it a bit for the 1st octave.

    • @DoctorFlute
      @DoctorFlute  3 роки тому

      If it is jumping to the upper octave when trying to go for the low then your air stream is too high. Make sure the upper lip is over the bottom in the low register so that the air stream is aimed down.

      @@DoctorFlute thanks it worked. I'm so happy to have come across your videos. I can play upto A in the 3rd octave now

    Aside from opening the teeth, what about the lips? Do you push forward? I can loosen up but still struggle with executing the crisp high sound.

    • @DoctorFlute
      @DoctorFlute  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Glitter Nails! Yes your lips should be forward in an "oo" vowel must make sure it's not so much as to make a whistle. Your lips should raise the air stream then with all the support from your air pressure you can muster!

    my high notes are very loud

    • @DoctorFlute
      @DoctorFlute  8 місяців тому

      Does this video answer why it’s loud? Always because it’s overblown.
