„Isn‘t this ‚Stollen‘ ?“ - „I‘m sure they paid for this“ xD (greetings from Germany btw :D)
+Pizza :D Diese Stelle ist mir auch gleich aufgefallen..britischer Humor vom Besten :D! I wanted to comment the very same on-the-spot pun, very nice! I love the British humour :D!
Dude, Germany is the country of bread! Naturally we do great biscuits, too. And thanks to the influence of Switzerland, we are really picking in terms of chocolate, too. (Honestly, German cuisine is great, we tend to pick the best from all our surrounding countries).
for Example Speculatius are Dutch.
For me as a German "Dominosteine" (the three layer cubes you had) are the best.
Too bad the package missed another German christmas staple: Lebkuchenherzen (ginger bread hearts) - chocolate coated , very soft ginger bread with a jam filling - soo good.
I think Aldi sells those at Christmas time and they are delicious.
Buy then every Christmas from aldi, love love love them!!!!!!
I prefer the ones without jam, but they're greta no matter what
I tried those and loved them!
OMG Mozart Candies!!! When I was in high school our orchestra was invited to compete in the Vienna Youth and Music Festival and we spent 3 weeks in Austria and Germany. I brought back a HUGE box of Mozart Candies and made them last as long as I could. Thanks for the memory. ♥️ I was thinking I might try Australia or Japan but it might have to be Germany now.
Cheers in German is "Prost!" I learned from our German exchange students at my high school
Ahh yay thank you for letting me know 😀
Yes but you only say "Prost" for drinks. Its a bit weird if someone would say Prost for a candy :D
Ricardo Kakáresma super interesting! Is there a good equivalent to Prost?
For food *
I think term you will hear most is simply "Guten Appetit" which translate to "enjoy your meal" or "enjoy the meal you looked forward to eat"
Or you say "lass es dir schmecken" which basically means the same.
But you say "Guten Appetit" to every food/meal you eat with someone.
I dont know, its weird. :D I actually think we dont have a "cheers" for specific things like candy.
Cheers in German is Prost :)
Thank you Ela!!
InTheKitchenWithKate or "zum Wohl" which literally means "to your health." But it's less common.
"Prost" is correct when you drink something together. When you eat some stuff with others like in the video you usually say "Guten Appetit" (which means "enjoy").
Only for drinks... for food its "Guten Appetit"
In german we say: Zur Mitte, zur Titte zum Sack Zack Zack😂
Ich liebe deutsches Essen und deutsche Süßigkeiten! Grüße aus Kanada ❤️
I love it when english speaking people try to pronounce german words😅 so funny! Love your channel💗 greetings from Austria 🇦🇹💗
Katharina Sekot sie hat Marzipan so lustig ausgesprochen :D
Greta 〈3 Ja😅
I'm from Germany and I love everything they sent you! Really nice choices! We do have stuff without marzipan though ;)
The Pastry you tried before the last Candy actually tastes always bad when bought from a Super Market, but it is THE Traditional Christmas Pastry in Germany, you have to try a homemade Version or from a really good Oldschool Bakery.
It's called "Stollen" or "Christ-Stollen", famous is the "Dresdner Christ-Stollen".
Never think of these nasty Super Market Stollen as the Real Deal.
I love when Alex is in your videos. He's so funny! German candy is really good!
Think they're my favourite videos to film!! Glad you enjoy them with Alex in too ☺️ German candy is so good!
I love German candy! Grew up on it! Some of the German candy in America don’t taste the same. I think German candy flavors are more prominent!
They use far more sugar in the States for many things. Cola has way more in it too. Companies probably think it is culturally a different taste when they actually are the reason for the need of putting more sugar because that way everybody is just used to have more inside of all the things you eat...
Think I will have to try this candy I love German food anyway thanks for this video and thanks to who sent it for them to try .
They all looked and sounded so good.
Silently waiting for you guys to try German chocolate. SOO GOOOD
I really enjoyed watching you guys eating german Candy
Just ordered the German candy box!! Love your videos. Watched others and you explain and describe it all so well in comparison. Your videos are also well set up and easy to understand. Thumbs up to you and Happy Holidays!!
Yaay! I hope you enjoy it! Thank you, so pleased you love our videos! Thank you, happy holidays to you too ❤️
Yay! I love these videos where you try candy. Love you by the way💘💘
Thank you Ellie, so pleased you love them! ❤️
I am sitting in my office binge watching you and Alex you asked Alexa what "Cheers" is in German. My Alexa answered and yours did not understand! I love your show! Thank you Inthekitchenwithkate!
Fun fact: The Stollen is covered in sugar to resemble baby Jesus wrapped in linens.
Avellania never heard of that. You sure that's true?
I'm German and learned that in school. But this wouldn't be the first time my teachers had been wrong.
Yes that's true.
Avellania It is Correct! His Type of Bakery ist called „Gestaltbrot“ (bakery, which is imitating someone or something.
Cheers in German is Prost, I love watching you guys. Makes me want to try all kinds of things.
Thank you Jennifer ☺️ So glad you enjoy watching! You should get a box some time!
I adore the British accent! Thanks for sharing this video, and enjoy all of these Christmas candies!
Nice variety, good & honest reviews!
I'm not blaming anyone, but two (or thirty-two) items were missing:
1) Lebkuchen - flat cake circles from nuts and almonds, with christmas spices, alternatively covered with sugar, chocolate or bare.
2) Cut-out cookies, typically made in private kitchens to grandma's recipies.
3)- 32) more variants of these cookies, with vanilla, chocolate, nuts, jelly, marzipan...
Some private kitchen contain loads of boxes with different tastes!
I can literally listen to Alex try to speak German all day!!
As always I love your videos😍 Keep up the good work Kate!
Yap thank you Leslie and thank you for the support! ❤️
Your pronounciation of the German words is literally the funniest thing ever!! Greetings from Germany
I am so suprised that you are eating candy from Kinkartz - it's from my town and I thought it was only popular in my town
Adorable how you say "Mar-zee-pan". :)
Love all your videos! But the taste testing are my favorite! You have inspired my husband and I to go to our local international market and do our own tastings! We are starting with Japan!
Thank you! So pleased you love them all ❤️ No way!!! That makes me so happy hearing that, thank you for letting me know. I hope you enjoy all of your tastings ❤️
When he tried saying chocolate in german sounded like the spanish pronounciation except he said lata when it la-tey the ey sound is the last part in hay lol
I’m so happy that you loved our Christmas candys🙈
This was so entertaining. German candy is the best!
Hello! Just found you two on UA-cam. Pretty cool programs. Only thing I would like to see, is a quick shot of the wrappers of each one. Just a very quick shot. You are awesome.

I’ve been waiting so long for this video❤️I love living in Germany the food is amazing
Yaaay i'm glad we finally did!! I bet! I want to try more
If you like Spekulatius you should try the receipt of the Spekulatius Cheesecake (Käsetorte)! It is amazing
The Mozart balls are actually from Austria. Since Mozart was born in Salzburg, Austria, we of course had to commerciale it so we have a few Mozart candies
We normally say "Prost" or "Zum Wohl" instead of cheers in Germany. But you can also use cheers or anything zu want.
Spekulatius with chocolate are new to me, I will try them in autumn.
The glass of water at 5:20 is very cool;)
Kate you seemed so excited about the marzipan looking like potatoes hahaha so cute
haha i thought they were so cute haha 😂
Oh my gosh i am from Germany and never thought you two would make a video about german Christmas Candy 😊 BTW love your Channel
Isabell Hummel I’m from Germany myself and was excited they did a video! I live in the US now though, have since I was a baby; but I was born in Germany lol
Yaay!! Do you eat lots of these snacks and candies during the holidays? Yes of course, we are trying to work our way around the whole world haha. Thank you so pleased 💗
Yaay! So glad you got excited too!
InTheKitchenWithKate yes and they are all delicious but unfortunately all the christmas treats have to be worked off after the holidays 😂
Mee too
Some are really good
the Mozart Kugeln are actually austrian and austria is famous for Mozart and austria is extremely proud that Mozart was born there so they have mozart everywhere
Ohh i see! Thank you for letting us know ☺️
But when Mozart was living there was no "Austria". He saw himself as "Teutsch". Which is a word for all native german speakers.
In fact Mozart was NOT bon in austria but in Bavaria, because when he was born, Salzburg was part of Bavaria.
yeah right - and gingerbread is actually only from China, because ginger grows there!!!1!! And chocolate Santa Claus' are actually purely Turkish, because Saint Nicholas of Myra lived in Southern Turkey!!!1!!
Too bad good old Mozart had no clue that in the future his birthplace Salzburg will be change from Bavaria to Austria and then even merely a hundred years later this will not become part of modern Germany, silly guy.
Honestly, why arguing? Let's just share him. He was both German and Austrian. And Mozart Kugeln are eaten in Germany, too, especially around Christmas.
Oh my gosh I just really love your channel and your videos are always interesting and fun you are both really cool too.🤗😊
Yay! This comment makes me happy! Thank you 😀
I want to try those German cookies!
Oh I am ordering that!! So fun!!

German sweets are amazing. My sister was an exchange student in high school, she brought back amazing chocolate. Also i live in a Dutch down in usa. So there some german sweets here. Yay

I’m curious which tea you are drinking in the videos? I️ don’t think you mentioned it in the Tim tam slam lol

Thats so cool! Ahhh yes me too, we do have some kinder here in the UK but not as much as Germany! Hopefully next time!
I think they didnt do kinder eggs because it is a christmas edition.
‘I’m a changed woman’ 😂😂😂

“This is the best dark chocolate I ever tried! I’m gonna give it a 7!” 😂
Haha. I don’t like dark chocolate. So I was meaning out of the dark chocolate I’ve had this is the best one haha 😂
What is the name of those ginger things you dunked in tea? I went to the website and looked it up but it wasn't in the box they had advertised. Does anyone recignize them?

“I cannot pronounce that.” Same Alexa same. 😂
haha
Can you do the Hamburger challenge? or candy cane challenge?
Luv the vid but wish u could do closeup of the snacks!
Watching this I want christmas right now. I miss Spekulatius and Domino Steine and Lebkuchen and all the stuff. Even though the christmas candy can be bought pretty soon in Germany. At the end of September or at the beginning of October you can find the first christmas candy in the stores. :D Some people find that annoying but I could eat that stuff the whole year and wouldn't get tired of it.
That late? I'd say at the end of August.
When you asked your Alexa a question mine replied it's not even in the same room as my computer she is so sensitive lol
This was posted on my birthday 🙊
He did wear a Christmas jumper in 2018, so never say never hahahha
Please do a blind tasting of Londor Truffles

Try Costa Rican candy!
Maybe try some of the more usual things😊
Good plan, definitely want to try more of Germanys normal snacks and candy!
I would love to see you two do a gluten free video. I have celiac disease and I wonder what you would say about gluten free foods.
Oh good idea!! We actually have a vegan trying coming out in Jan and i think a lot of that was gluten free!
InTheKitchenWithKate awesome. I can't wait to see it. I really loves Katz and UDIs.
cheers in german is prosit or shorter prost
So this "Mozart-kugeln" are actually an Austrian treat, so it's a traditional sweet from austriaaa
when you asked Alexa questions, MY Alexa answered lol
