I don’t make a lot of comments, but I wanted to say thank you for the great honest review of both Ronin S & SC! Great feedback and I ended up going with the SC because of portability. Thanks again, keep up the great videos man!
Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. I really appreciate the feedback and I'm glad you found the video helpful. If portability is a necessity for you, then I think you are going to enjoy the SC. Thanks for watching!
Yeah, I thought it was going to be much lighter than it really was. The weight made it completely useless to me. I've used the SC a lot though. You might want to check out the new RSC2 if you have a larger camera setup. It looks promising. I'm waiting for mine to arrive and I will be doing a comparison of that the the SC. Thanks for watching!
I agree. I have the same setup (EOS R + RF35 + Ronin SC). I had a zhiyun crane plus but I sold it to buy the Ronin. I don’t plan to use the 24-105 on my gimbal at all.
That's great! I can get 90% of the shots I need with the 35mm setup. I rarely use the 24-105 on my gimbal, but it does handle it pretty well if I do . Thanks for watching and commenting! It's nice to hear this kind of feedback!
Thanks for your honest feedback, your video helped make my decision on buying the Ronin SC. I really liked the real world examples of the pros and cons.
Great video and nice review. I have the S and its amazing, but it is to heavy for a days hiking and video making. I had weevil before, but much prefer the use and build quality of the Robins.
I agree, the quality of the Ronin S is amazing, but it is heavy. I think I could handle a hike with the Ronin SC, but unless my main intention was to capture footage on the hike, I would still prefer to go handheld. Something about bringing too much equipment can ruin the experience. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Thanks so much man! I have a Canon 700d/t3i and I love my Sigma 18-35mm which is slightly heavier than your RF lens and it’s very nice to see you use the lens. Which modes (apart from the 360) was the RF lens too heavy for? You mentioned what it can do... thanks a milly mate!
That's a nice setup. I'm looking forward to some of Sigma's RF lenses. Basically, I find that the 24-105 has trouble going into flashlight and under slung modes. You can do under slung, but it's a little more finicky. It also puts a lot more load on the motors than on the Ronin S, so you may see some overloading if you are whipping it around a lot, but other than that it handles the 24-105 pretty well. Glad you enjoyed the video, thank you for watching!
Is the Ronin Sc compatible with Canon EOS M50? I watched some videos saying Canon m50 users are having a hard time connecting cables fr Ronin Sc to m59? I need your expert opinion before I decide to buy Ronin Sc. Thank you
Sorry for the late reply. According to DJI's official compatibility list, the Ronin SC is fully compatible with the M50. It does state that the Ronin SC must be updated to firmware version v1.0.2 or later though. Maybe this is why some people with older firmware were having issue? Unfortunately, I do not have an M50 to test, or else I would. Thanks for watching!
Thank you very much. I actually used a few different camera / lens combinations for this video. The main video was shot with a Canon EOSR, with an RF 24-105 F4 lens. Some scenes that feature the EOSR were shot with a Canon 70D with an EFS 18-35mm or EFS 10-18mm and a few shots were also shot with a GoPro Hero 8. It was really a mixed bag for this video. Most of my videos after July 2019 were mainly shot with the EOSR and 24-105mm combo. Thanks for watching!
@@tech_progress Thanks for such a detailed information.keep making such videos.Very much informative. And one more question, which editing software do u use? Actually I m learning Adobe premiere pro but a bit confused which one should I use premiere or Final cut pro?
@@ringingthebells307 I use Premiere Pro myself, but only because I am a PC user and I have always used Premiere Pro, so it's what I am used to. I have never personally tried Final Cut, so I wouldn't be able to make an informed recommendation. Premiere Pro and the rest of the Adobe suite have always been able to deliver for me though.
It's hard to say. It doesn't officially list compatibility with that lens. Looking at other lenses with that size and weight that are on the list, it looks like you will be pushing the limits, but it might work. Have you checked out the new Ronin RSC2? It might be a safer bet and a better option to look at.
I think that you will be fine using the Ronin-SC with the 50mm f1.8, but it won't handle the 85mm F1.2 very well. If you plan on using it with the 85mm lens, you are probably better off with the more robust Ronin-S. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
@@themoncolefish Do you happen to have a link to the specific model and price you are looking at? Then I can see specs vs price of the exact one you are looking at.
Hey, I'm sorry, but your comment got flagged as spam and hidden. I took a look at the laptop, specs wise it seems pretty good and that particular model seems to have good reviews. I don't have any personal experience with it, but from what I've seen it looks pretty good. The price vs specs seems to be pretty on par with other manufactures. If you were looking to spend a little more or were looking for something on sale for the same price, I would consider something with an i7 processor and 16Gb of RAM. It really depends on that you are going to use it for, but I would say for day to day use, light gaming and light creative work it should be fine.
It all depends on the weight of the camera and the weight of the lens. The Ronin-S will support almost any mirrored camera on the market. The Ronin-SC will support many mirrored cameras, but it is definitely more geared towards a mirrorless. It has no issues with my Canon 70D, but I wouldn't put a 1DX Mark ii on it. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
Tech Progress thanks 🙏🏾 for the reply yep I have a 90D I need to check out weight of it and I have a stock lens and a a 50m, time to use those kitchen scales.
@@kings9634 You are very welcome! I haven't tried it with a 90D myself, but a 90D with a stock lens or an EF-50mm F1.8, shouldn't be an issue for the Ronin-SC. You might even get lucky and be able to use it in flashlight mode with that setup. Just make sure that you buy from a company with a good return policy, that way if it doesn't work out, you're not out any money.
Just saw the SC is on sale for 279... Two questions: Am I missing out if I don't buy the pro combo (focus motor etc). Have you looked at the weebill-s? Im shooting on a7iii. Biggest lens is my 24-105 f4. Also, while I am here, anyone have any input on how well the focus knob works with the data cord and not the motor/zip tie thing (lol)
I don't think you'll be missing out if you don't get the pro kit. The only really useful thing in that kit is the focus motor, but will you really use it? As far as the USB focus control goes, I can't speak to that as I don't have an a7iii to test it. I would think that the a7iii with the 24-105 might be a little heavy for the SC. According to DJI's website, that combination will not work in flashlight mode, but upright should be fine. Same boat I found myself in the the EOSR and a 24-105. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching! Good luck with your decision making.
Tech Progress thanks for the response. The pro was sold out everywhere but I found it at the sale price on the DJI eBay store. At 329 I decided to go for it. At least I’ll have the option. If I really don’t use, I’ll sell those parts. Thanks for the input.
It really depends on the lens you are going to use with it. If you are using the kit lens, nifty fifty, or similar size, then you should be fine. If you want to use something bigger, you might run into some limitations. I have been very happy with mine so far. Thanks for watching.
