i love when a guitar solo just goes on and on...and on. when this came out the airwaves were full of punk rock, disco, and progressive rock. this was a throw back to the days of a garage band just tearing it up for 5 minutes, and was a breath of fresh air.
8:24-Sharona Alperin still has the single's promo picture hanging in her real estate office today, and still looks like the photo enough so that.new clients recognize it right away. On a utube video, she laughs , " It's been a great ice-breaker..Helped me out with a few sales" . And that's how BIG this song was.
This first album of theirs (Get the Knack) was great all the way through. The songs are so catchy and the music done so well. Special shout out to their Drummer, if you listen to the album most songs are driven by the drummer and he is so talented.
Love this song, loved your reaction, you really had me laughing, and by the way, we're all going to be waiting to hear that song now Andrei, better get busy. ✌❤
I've listened to this song ever since it came out and never paid much attention to the lyrics. The guitar riff and catchy chorus grabs you and doesn't let go. Only recently did I realize how nasty the lyrics are! Oh my! I'm surprised there wasn't a backlash but it's now enshrined in rock history, never to be erased!
This one hit wonder came along and shocked the music industry. The perfect rock song. The only Sharona (based off Sharon) I knew of was a character on the popular tv show MONK. His first assistant was Sharona from New Jersey.
While I always feel sorry (and dubious) that any composer/band only have 1 song, this one is soooo fantastic that I think it will live on for decades. It has so far.
When this song and Gary Newman "Cars" and maybe two more new bands came out in the late 70s I knew as a kid that a new wave of music was coming for my generation. No more 70s, 60s, 50s older people music which was nice but not mine. Something for my generation. I was so right! The 80s exploded and you know the rest.
- 'The Knack' was simply "catchy", w/ a basic rock driving beat, and classic guitar solos. And yes, Andrei, many have found it "so easy to find your moves" on this:)
Doug Fieger (the lead singer) is a brother of Jeffrey Fieger who ran for the Governor of Michigan. Jeff owns a very big defense attorney firm in Detroit.
For me The song overall: B Chorus and Verses: C+ Full guitar solo: A It's like a completely different song happens when the solo kicks in and then we eventually make our way back onto the main highway and resume the original song. Crazy.
According to Sharona, she was “16 or 17 years old” and dating someone else when the 25-year old lead singer of The Knack met her in a clothing store and went on to write this song about her.
Sharona new how to make his motor run. he should have stayed with her, a song about a girl he used to know and now she is likely with some really lucky guy who knows better to not lose her.
I swear you could hear Doug breathing along into the mic at the very end part. I couldn’t hear it here though! Shame they hit so hard and fizzled out so fast.
This wasn't even the best song on the album. But it's the one they put out.🤑🤑 I'm not saying it's not a great song but they tried to sell "Good Girls Don't" but it didn't go. "She's So Selfish" is cool.
Better than you have done yourself. When was your last massive hit??? Oh that’s right you never had one as you have no talent but sit on your butt and criticise, you troll 🧌 😂
One of the most underrated guitar solos in rock history.
Agree 100 % !!
IMHO. THE greatest solo in rock n roll!
@@Jp421JP 🙄🙄
Yep
Huh🤷 who underates this solo. It’s world renown😡
The LONG version!!’ Best guitar solo and I lose my mind every time I hear it…. Thank you for doing this version ❤❤❤❤
i love when a guitar solo just goes on and on...and on. when this came out the airwaves were full of punk rock, disco, and progressive rock. this was a throw back to the days of a garage band just tearing it up for 5 minutes, and was a breath of fresh air.
I always put it on repeat at least 3-4 times
“The innocence of Andrei” 😂
Watching local bar bands in 79 and early 80s nailing the guitar lead on this one was a treat.
Even now, young teen garage bands work hard to achieve the collective rhythm AND to keep playing.
"Good Girls Don't" is another good one from The Knack.
It was impossible to escape this song when it came out. It was everywhere. 🤪
You two make me smile! (Thanks.)
Awesome Riff!!!! One of the best Rock song of all the times!!!! This band made me shake my bones in 1979!!!!
Weird Al Yankovic did a very funny send up of this one entitled "My Bologna"

One of the best guitar solos ever!
I bought this album in 1980. The whole record is great.
What a sensation when it came out. Took over the radio waves.
Memories!❤
Great song. Great guitar solo. That album cover with the girl was every teenage boy's dream.
🇬🇧
This song was a big hit for The Knack when it was released. I was 15 years old in 1979, so yes, I definitely was a fan of "My Sharona"❤👌🎼🎸
Huge #1 record. The biggest single of the entire year 1979. Their album - Get The Knack - was also a big #1 album.
❤❤❤❤
Love this song, loved your reaction, you really had me laughing, and by the way, we're all going to be waiting to hear that song now Andrei, better get busy. ✌❤
Andre- “you gonna bake me something?” 😂😂😂❤
Love this song 👍
Music was just so much better back then.
I was in high school when this came out, HUGE HIT. Cheers.
You two are so adorable & I love how you interact with each other ❤️ Keep bringing us joy!
The proper long album version with one of the best guitar solos ever.
Thank you so much for playing the full version of this song
Big ditto.
Same reaction as we had 45 years ago!! 👍
One of the first record who buy.I love the Knack🤘
Haven’t heard this song in ages, still sounds good ✌️
I've listened to this song ever since it came out and never paid much attention to the lyrics.

nasty the lyrics are! Oh my! I'm surprised there wasn't a backlash but it's now enshrined in

One of the great live bands,,
Love this oldie. How do you sit still with that beat? Thanks guys!🧡
This one hit wonder came along and shocked the music industry. The perfect rock song. The only Sharona (based off Sharon) I knew of was a character on the popular tv show MONK. His first assistant was Sharona from New Jersey.
Think of an Italian-American with a bit of a Latin accent saying "Sharon...a"
While I always feel sorry (and dubious) that any composer/band only have 1 song, this one is soooo fantastic that I think it will live on for decades. It has so far.
The Knack weren't a 1 hit wonder although most people think that because My Sharona was such a monster hit.
Excellent. Got this set as my ringtone.
I remember it well, it was the 1St thing I learnt to play on The Bass. God I feel old 😛😛
root 5 root 5 root 5 :)
or rather root octave :P
Biggest selling song of 1979.
Prime time music for me! Oh those days ❤. I miss them so 😞.
Back in the 80s we always sang 'M m m m m my Corona' ✌💖☮
Back in 79 at college everyone was singing my sca-rotum
If you are up for a little Wilder song, try their follow-up hit, Good Girls Don't

- For a similar sound/feel from that era, check out "What I Like About You", by 'The Romantics'.
This track reminds me of Bitty Schram, a.k.a. Sharona from the series "Monk."
music brings the whole together - i just hope we have more time to learn this lesson
Another great song by The Knack is "Good Girls Don't."
Takes me back to a clothing company I worked at in 1977 8 9.Always on tannoy was this.Happy days.Sadly no more😢.
"Good Girl's Don't" is a small be interesting hit
Doug Fieger (the lead singer) is a brother of Jeffrey Fieger who ran for the Governor of Michigan. Jeff owns a very big defense attorney firm in Detroit.
Jeffrey also endured a major stroke last year which has put him out of commission to this day. He used to appear in all there tv advertisements
A one hit wonder👍
Listening now🤔I am surprised they allowed this on the airwaves in my area🫢😂
For me
The song overall: B
Chorus and Verses: C+
Full guitar solo: A
It's like a completely different song happens when the solo kicks in and then we eventually make our way back onto the main highway and resume the original song. Crazy.
He eventually did get Sharona to 'spend some time,' but eventually she left him, noting that she wanted to be her own f'n Sharona!
According to Sharona, she was “16 or 17 years old” and dating someone else when the 25-year old lead singer of The Knack met her in a clothing store and went on to write this song about her.
I read they took 2 years to fully do this piece. The hook took 3 days. They played above their ability to do this.
Good cleaning songs.
The Knack is fun. Their writing style is nasty.😅❤❤You should listen to this entire album.
Cowbell?! 😉
Check out Chris Mann’s cover “My Corona”
Curious lyrics: "Never gonna stop, give it up. Such a dirty mind, but I always get it up, for the touch, of a younger kind."
WTF? 😂
But did you watch them live before they hit it, then walk past bubble gum alley?
Try THIS MORTAL COIL "Song to the Siren" 😭
i meant "the whole world"
You should listen to "My Bologna" by Weird Al next.
👍👍
Sharona new how to make his motor run. he should have stayed with her, a song about a girl he used to know and now she is likely with some really lucky guy who knows better to not lose her.
yeah! to bad they fizzeled out! and never had another big hit!
I swear you could hear Doug breathing along into the mic at the very end part. I couldn’t hear it here though! Shame they hit so hard and fizzled out so fast.
This is an absolute belter The hives: hate to say i told you so ua-cam.com/video/Uz1Jwyxd4tE/v-deo.html

I'm not saying it's not a great song but they tried to sell "Good Girls Don't" but it didn't go.
"She's So Selfish" is cool.
Sharona was an old girlfriend
Try Good Girls Don't
One hit wonder.
Better than you have done yourself. When was your last massive hit??? Oh that’s right you never had one as you have no talent but sit on your butt and criticise, you troll 🧌 😂
maybe one album wonder, but there were a few great songs on it.
Good girls dont is better
this is garbage -poppy schlocky garbage, would not consider it "ROCK" and should be reacted to as such/whatever it is.
MOST UNDERRATED G SOLO IN ROCK. TIGHT, AS HELL, I KNOW.
WELL, THEN........BAKE NAKED, TOGETHER!!!!! WHILE PLAYING THIS ALBUM LOUD!!! SO ONE SAYS.
IF IT IS PLAYED ALBUM FULLY. ONE OF THE ROCKIN'IST FUCKING PURE SOLOS EVER!!!!
