What a great review and a 15% discount from Outdoor Gear Essentials happy days 😊
Cheers col. I'll pin that post 👍
I know it's a year old - but i've just got the exact same setup - and the clips on the hammock clip onto the bungee in the hem of the underquilt - that way the quilt can slide around while you move and it does a fairly good job of holding it up on the edges - but they do pop out sometimes.
I don't think remember seeing bungee on the hammock edges. I mist admit I haven't used it in a long time but I'm looking forward to a hammock camp again soon so I will try then. Thanks 👍
Nice looking wood
Yeah stunning spot 👌
Nice video. Glad it kept you relatively warm
Certainly better than being freezing for sure. Anything that takes the chill off to stop freezing is good.
Great footage 👍 liked & subscribed, thanks for sharing, grüße Michael from Germany
Thanks buddy 👌👍
Honestly your B-rolls are the best out there. Great review. Greetings from Peru, watching the video whilst testing a new tent. Cheers.
Ah cheers buddy. Much appreciated. Love the sound of Peru, must be great for camping. Bloody long way though 🤣
Perfect testing man.way ta go fer shure.
Good to see another opinion on this, I have been looking at them myself.
Decent bit of kit and if you're a cold sleeper you need to get some overkill for the winter but it was great at those temps so be good to try it out colder.
I've not used the OneWind down quilt, but if it has got the same shock cord running along the top, like in the normal OneWind under quilt, you can use those clips on the 12 foot zippered hammock, to clip it to the under quilt. What you do, is stretch the shock cord, pull it under those hooks, and it clips in. It's reasonably firm, doesn't pull out in the night, and it doesn't seem to damage the fabric.
Cheers Stephen. I'll have a look. I'm going for a hammock camp Thursday and a mate is using it as I'm trying my new one out so will try that then. 👍
@@NoviceWildCamper - The trick is stretching the shock cord a bit, to narrow its diameter, so it slips easily into these clips.
Excellent review, i just bought the 11ft hammock mine dont marry up either. I just bought the lighter underquilt aswell, seem pleased with it too, thanks for your honest review.
Cheers Darren. It's a great set up. Onewind do some real decent gear. 👌 👍
Great review thanks. I’ve just seen a video from Onewind where is shows that clips on the side are not meant to match up with the hammock, but instead are clips for you to attach some bungy cord to the ridge line, to keep the UQ pulled up. I must have spent nearly 2 hours trying to get the clips clipped together before seeing that video 😂😂😂. Great YT channel. 👍
theres 2 versions n its a bishop bag not a stuff sack.. the solstice i got is cheaper n lighter than the equinox as they now calling them.. wasnt named when ordered mine. n my 11ft camo netless hmk dont have the clips for the qwilt.. jus lil loops
Cheers bud. I think I called it a compression sack though as it has compressions straps on it 🤷🏼♂️ yeah thats the +5 to -6 quilt. Much cheaper than the -17. I'm a cold sleeper so wanted the warmest I could get. 👍
I have a hammock but no under-blanket, it’s a Night Cat one but I don’t think you can buy quilts that are made by other brands accept their own one.
However, it’s always good to see what else is out there on the market. Good stuff, keeping warm in sub zero temps.
I think the night cst really need a sleep mat in due to the spreader bard doesn't it? I don't think a normal underquilt would fit them but I'm no expert on the night cat stuff for sure.
How you finding the xboil just waiting on mine but probably gonna use it with des catty stove after your review
Absolutely love the stand/windshield but still using it with the des catty. Just think it works better. It's my favourite non gas set up. You'll love it 👌
@@NoviceWildCamper awesome yeah looks it, looking forward to it
Looks like a decent bit of kit 👌
I see you have the unigear gloves on.
They are good arnt they 👍
Yep. Did a review on them while I was there. Along with thier hand warmer and vest from another company. Good test of it out there in the cold 👍
@@NoviceWildCamper definitely mate I reviewed mine in my living room 🤣🤣
My haven just died after about 2 and a half years and it was my go to shelter. I decided to instead buy a one wind hammock as i already had their tarp. I have not yet purchased their underquilt as i have a different one already. I think you have a unique point of view as you have both set ups, witch do you like more?
Tough one. The Haven is certainly more comfy for me but the onewind easier to pack and carry. When you say died, what went wrong with it?
@@NoviceWildCamper the seem between the base and the side started to tear pretty bad. Thought the seam tape was just peeling back but the whole seam was tearing apart pretty substantially. I use the thermorest pad and some carbon fiber bars so it’s sad the body failed. I decided to try the one wind for 75 bucks vs giving haven 200 bucks for another tent body. I set the one wind up yesterday for the first time, I am definitely nervous about stay warm and comfortable. The big selling point on the haven for me was the simplicity and the ability of to pee put the side, I know that sounds silly but it is invaluable to me lol
@jimdye7431 🤣 I know what you mean. Did you contact them? Tjeure pretty good for customer service plus they have tested and advertised it with hundreds of kilos of weight on it without breaking. I reckon they might send you a new tent body if you haven't tried already.
@@NoviceWildCamper yeah I did, their reply was quite disappointing. It was more to “let them know” than complain or ask for a free one. I basically was just hoping for a discount code for a new one, but I got an auto response basically saying tough shit, that put me off as I have been a huge cheerleader for them.
That's really bad. I've only ever heard really good after sales service from them. @haventents
Some times it's difficult to believe manufacturers claims when it comes to temps ratings even with the good manufacturers and ASTM and other ratings so it's always good to see them in real life situations.but I always think it's better to get something that will go to lower temps even if it's not going to reach them because it's easier to vent than it is to warm up.
Exactly. I'd rather be too hot sitting in my pants than wearing everything I had and freezing 😂
I wonder if they under filled it?
Hard to tell really. It performed ok. Will be good to try it out in even colder temps.
Well i watched all way through, and liked. even though i've zero interest in hammock camping, to hopefully boost your channel. So that's £50 you owe me. 😂
😂 cheers buddy. You take ultralight tables as payment 🤣
@@NoviceWildCamper Errrm.... Let's call this one a freebie. 😂
🤣
First
Sorry Mike I think you've finally sold out here !! Such a shame as I've literally subbed from your trekology finding leaks in the bath, but if your selling out for a 240 dollar underquilt that realistically isn't even needed in the UK, I'm now questioning your credibility which I have never done before 🤷♂️🤔
Also I'm drunk ....don't judge 🤣🤣🤣
Hi mick. Fully understand but I do feel the cold and I would always go over the top for warmth. The rating states -6 to -17 and when you look at sleeping bag ratings there is a comfort, limit and extreme. I think these numbers are limit and extreme but wouldn't know without testing it. Plus, I paid for this underquilt. It wasn't sent to me for free. I have the synthetic version which is OK but I wouldn't want it for the winter hence buying this one as I want to continue winter camping. Hope that clears it up as its as honest a review as I can do and in minus 6 I didn't freeze so all good there. 👍
😂👍
Novice Wild Camper Mike you have redeemed yourself and I apologise for my knee jerk reaction which was mainly based on a other creators (EW) Half baked credit from etc paid quilt, so he's never gonna jeopardise that relationship!! On a side note and I would like to say I'm totally married and heterosexual....your looking good these days unlike the gaunt vids you did between and during covid, your looking fuller and healthier , now gfy 🤣
He actually bought it from me @ Outdoor Gear Essential in the uk 👍
