I have been sewing for many years and i must admit I am envious of his skill and sewing swager! I think I shall use strips of the "Morro Rock" green and blue batik
I love your bag and thinking out of the box for using practice pieces very clever ! I have made many totes I really like this one the size is good for many things also your idea of using the 1 1/2 inch honey bun for the binding , your right it looks good outside to.. thanks Rob
With the discontinued use of plastic bags at grocery stores, this is a great project. I'll need to reduce the size a little. But your size works for big bulky items that are lightweight. Thanks again Rob!
I think this is a great idea to put practice quilting sandwiches to good use. We don't want to practice on our "good quilts", but we don't want to waste all of our materials and effort on our "practice pieces," either. Sometimes they turn out unexpectedly good, hee hee! And who cant use more tote bags? I especially like your design, because its actually very like some small totes I picked up from the local grocery store; they're made out of some kind of plastic, & I Wanted to copy the design in quilted fabric for a softer bag. But it never occurred to me to practice free motion on the bag pieces! And, if you use a busy print, like you did, if your quilting isn't so good it won't show that much. Another great idea I saw on someone else's UA-cam video, is to make small storage baskets out of quilted fat quarters. I thought that was a good way to use up the quilted practice pieces too. Fat quarters are a good size to practice on, too, bc they are easier to maneuver on the sewing machine.
Great job ! That's the size I need when I go to International Quilt Show here in Houston .In 9 days away.I don't count opening night it's 3 hours long. But need to get sewing to make this by then .Thanks Maybe see you at the show again this year
I love you man! Thank you, thank you, thank you for this. I know you directed me to Jenny's big bags! However this is the one I was looking for! You rock!
This is a great looking bag however on the downloadable .pdf the quantities for panels (2) are not listed. Someone might just cut one instead of two. Also, there is no mention that the handle and side bottom panels need batting. Just a comment. Keep doing what you do, it is amazing!
Thank You for a wonderful project. Question how long would the side/bottom and strap pieces need to be if I wanted to increase the width to 20 inches finished
I love this bag and the fabric you used. Question - when you are seeing on the side/bottom section, couldn't you be sewing on the bias fabric as well? It would save a step. Just a thought. Otherwise, great video. I love watching your videos and getting some great ideas. Can't wait for your next video!!!!
Love the bag but it would have been easier to make a lining for the bag. Tack down the handles to the sides of the outside of the bag. Turn the lining inside out and put the outside bag into the lining and sew around the top and leave an opening. Turn it right side out and top stitch the top on the outside to close the opening.
You would then attempt to quilt and stitch the inner to the outer? That sounds way too fiddly to have it all align. Not having the inner fabric anchored to the outer is so annoying on larger bags. When you pull the contents out it turns inside out all the time or air gets between the layers and you can't get rigid items into the bag without snagging the lining. Is it just me or does the lining seam seem to come apart first and in the bottom of the bag where buttons, pencils, coins etc find their way into that black hole of inner space? (the unexplored frontier of sewing. hehe)
Hi Rob, i saw this bag tutorial and I was wondering if your subscribers would like to help with a project that the quilting Marine is doing we are making quilts 4 the abused women shelter for women and children where you come in is that bag you're making these people usually leave there with nothing but garbage bag to hold their clothing and things that they absolutely have to have in order to escape the abuser so please put it out there that if they would like to contribute a bag to send it to is "The quilting Marine" Mark Darrell, his address is under each video. You might give this some mention on your next video please it's to help batter women and children
I found the video I was looking for so much. 👍🏼 Thank you so much Rob.
The colors look like the water in Cancún. Awesome!

I like it alot too; being in a wheelchair alot of the time, can't use it that big, but it's a perfect idea!!!!

Thanks for sharing these great projects. You really make them easy to follow.
Thanks for sharing Rob.. love this
How sturdy is that strap if you were loading up your bag with groceries? Heavy things like cans or a gallon of milk?
Thanks. Great idea

Nice bag, thanks. :) How about a quilted jacket for my little chihuahua? Just something simple. Great videos.
Awesome video
great bro!

Nice! Question: Would using a French seam instead of the binding be too much bulk?
You could have did French seams also. I do love the bag but needs to be smaller. For shopping.
Thanks for the printable. I noticed an error, though. It calls for one strip of binding, and best I can tell, you'll need about five strips.
I tried to watch this today and it came up with a msg that the video requires payment to watch???
Rob, How would you add a zipper to this bag?
you know if you did french seams you could skip the binding step.
