    I have a museum's worth of bones to pick with Disney, but I'm still in awe of just how epic the score for that movie was. Do yourself a favor and listen to the live-recordings of that choir :)

    I sing Gregorian Chants every day. I learned Latin in school, back in the days where they still taught you something in school, just because that was the purpose of school. O tempo, O mores. Please, do yourself a favor. Take a moment out of your busy life to listen and appreciate the wonderful voices you are hearing. Not understanding Latin is not a problem, let the Chants move you. You won't regret it,

      I took Latin in school three years ago - some schools still do teach it thankfully. Best thing I've ever done. I plan to eventually go to the Vatican to study at their Latin academy even though I'm not Christian/Catholic

    Some music carries a healing energy whether you follow that particular spiritual path or not. I am not a christian, yet I find this very soothing & relaxing. Meditative music and singing.

      yes, I agree completely. I was never a true christian (ie: I was born in a Christian family and raised to have such beliefs but as soon as I grew old enough to find information on my own I knew it wasn't right for me), and now I follow the wiccan path, but gregorian chants always moved me in this special healing, soothing way. Love it

      I was born an atheist and raised as an atheist. When I was 23 years old I experienced certain things that no doctor or science could explain or define. I always say to people who don't believe in a God, "if you don't believe, you better hope you're right" This music is almost proof of God. 😃

    Latin is a language that doesn't change its meaning, and this is why everything important is written Latin... as are Doctors medical prescriptions, Laws, the names of plants and trees, etc. Any college that teaches a good, complete education always offers Latin. And, this is the reason the Church uses Latin in its liturgy, along with Greek and Hebrew.

      Please give up the hate metal. It is straight from Hell. If you confess any sin and repent, God will forgive it. Hate metal is from the depths of Hell, and it has even inspired hundreds of murders. What does that tell you? Please know I used to indulge in immoral music, myself. I speak from experience

    Never forget the seemingly endless list of victims, men women and children who were murdered, enslaved, sexually abused, and ethnically cleansed because of their faith and trust by others of a different or similar faith. The music is beautiful, the histories, unfortunately are at times disgusting and inescapable. These crimes can never be absolved or washed away.

      Coach McGuirk O you, of little faith. "This catechism will thus contain both the new and the old (cf. Mt 13:52), because the faith is always the same yet the source of ever new light." (Catechism of the Catholic Church) Treasures New and Old, from, The New Testament (Mt 13: 51, 52), "Do you understand these things?" They answered, "Yes." 52 *And he replied, "Then every scribe who has been instructed in the kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old." Here you need to properly translate "head of a household". See Mt 13 v.27 {See also Mt. 24:45-51. The Faithful or the Unfaithful Servant} My friend this is not easy for me and luckily I read these things only today, otherwise who knows what I could impart to you as a means of rekindling your faith, or setting it on a more forgiving course once again. As indeed it is written in the Lords prayer, "...as we forgive those who trespass against us." Words to be spoke in this prayer immediately following those in which we ask Our Father to "...forgive us our trespasses..." But here is the remainder, and it is my hope only that you might take up your cross as well in this great plan that God has for us all. This (Mt 13 v. 27 is the parable of the sower and more specifically the explanation; and even more concisely, it is the clarification or notes to all this and starting with v.24: The comparison does not mean that -the kingdom of heaven may be likened- to the person in question but to the situation narrated in the whole story. The refusal of the -householder- to allow his -slaves- to separate the -wheat- from the -weeds- while they are still growing is a warning to the disciples not to attempt to anticipate the final judgment of God by a definitive exclusion of sinners from the kingdom. In its present stage it is composed of the good and the bad. The judgment of God alone will eliminate the sinful. Until then there must be patience and the preaching of repentance. End of note. My friend, now read this things once again with this music on, even as I have written them in this way, and thank God that it was so; for even I have learned much in this endeavor and I have you too to thank for this, but most of all the Holy Spirit and God the Father and Jesus Christ His Son for this peaceful moment shared in grace toward the working of His greater glory and in sincere hope of our redemption and salvation which is assured by the Cross of Christ and His Life everlasting. God love you.

    I agree with you entirely.
    Ironically, the deliberate clear pronunciation of words, which helps so much with the feel of the music, was meant to make the words easy to understand for its audience. Unfortunately most of its audience nowadays (including myself) speaks not a word of latin.
    Sic transit gloria mundi, possibly.

      @skairnskywalker3315 9 років тому +2

      GdeGertrudes im sorry, but you're wrong. Rock is far from satanic. They actually have their own form of music. Before you go around calling genres of music something, do some research. I happen to be in a Black Metal band, and all of us are church going folk.

    • @handlehandlehand
      @handlehandlehand 9 років тому +1

      Skairn Skywalker generalizations are bad I agree but, music Conveys messages not only with the words but with the actual music itself. Music can be a very spiritual thing, we are commanded to sing praise to God, angels sing praise unTo God, there it's one verse in the old testament books by the prophets that says that God sings. It is said in the Bible (Ezekiel 28:13-14, mentioned in Isaiah 14:11-12) Satan's body was a musical instrument designed to be used to worship God before his fall. It can enhance or initiate spiritual experiences because music affects us on fundamental and basic levels. What Kind of messages is being conveyed by the musical constructs in metal? Anger. Rock and roll? Freedom, rebellion, lust. Pop? Lust , arrogance, stubbornness. Rap? Rebellion, selfishness lust pRide. These genre are not inherently bad but generally are used to Convey messages that affect you enormously albeit subtly for ill if not by word then by the spirit that is conveyed by the tone and the sound

    • @skairnskywalker3315
      @skairnskywalker3315 9 років тому

      True, but there are alot of bands out there whose music conveys peace, sorrow, longing, and the like. Just because some songs sound angry, doesent mean the message they convey is an angry one. Comparing genres of music to verses in the bible is like comparing a horse and a donkey. Yes, they may be similar, but they're distinctly different.

    Yes, this is precisely from "innate human ability." Like the Mona Lisa, the Sistine Chapel, the Moon landing, the development of penicillin, the harnessing of the electro-magnetic spectrum, etc.
    As a matter of fact, all Art, including that BIG symbol, the word "God" (which is simply a symbol for the creative generative Universe that produces Life, intelligent & otherwise, ) comes from "innate human ability."
    Yes, I can enjoy the chant without following in your beliefs.
    Live with it .

      Me too. I got The Call when I was 15 or 16 but there was nothing I could do about it. I should have gone in then. Now it's too late.
