This was very early in the season cause of the chief’s green outfit. They probably did 60 seconds on the first couple uses of Asia cause it was bigger than the other maps and they thought it would take them longer to find the locations. Then Asia had the usual 45 seconds cause they showed that it was winnable within the usual 45.
That’s really is because normally it would have been 45 seconds for it on the map challenge , but since it was 28 minute for the show so they to do it in 1 minutes so that way there were no confusion for it on this channel anyway.
One of the only real times that I've seen the clock for the endgame be at 60 seconds instead of 45. I'm not sure what the reason for this was since they thought Asia (the hardest continents out of them all to win on because of how many countries are in it) would be too tough with only 45 (I'm unsure if there was another episode that had the extra 15 on the clock and not sure if it was another Asia endgame there, too). Obviously that would be PLENTY of time to win when you only needed to get 7 correct. IMO, when they made it to needing 8 countries, you could have made the case that an increase of time was necessary, since that was a LOT tougher. Apparently it caught on and was more fast paced, but it was pushing it a bit especially on a harder map because you had to be near perfect and be extremely quick.
@@dragonstormx I remember Greg usually telling contestants that Asia was the one map that gave HIM difficulties. At least he did during the first few seasons. Not sure how versed Greg was on geography, but maybe that could've been a sign to the one they considered the toughest. Plus, it was the only one that needed two screens for when the Chief did the country rundown (at least until they switched the US map to the North America map).

Ice and Gemini from the original American Gladiators
I love that the crooks have their own theme songs. Eartha's was a favorite of mine. "Eartha Brute! Huh!"
Eartha's my favorite villain. I like that she's tough and dumb, not the "typical female" who is pretty/seductive/cute. :)
Mine is Contessa 1.0 and 2.0
Carmen Sandiego:Don't you read the paper?
Eartha Brute: Only the comics.
That's a good one.
That's one thing we have in common.
I always get so excited when they catch Carmen. ;)
Yep!! That's my favorite part too!!!
Especially when it's with the Asia map, which, along with the Africa one, is one of the harder ones to complete.
Yeah, me too!

Gregory is a very smart contestant!!
Getting a 7 in less than one minute for the trip to California
I just can’t bear to look at that Asia map endgame
I would have to agree with you, because that's the worst Maps ever.
Luckily it was 7 in 60 seconds, very rare
@@kathyquinn8616This ep. happened before the C.I.S. & E. Timor.
It's those tiny Middle Eastern countries that are the hardest. Luckily, he got Jordan on the second try.
And once the former USSR countries got added in, that made it harder

Well, that still makes her smarter than old Pres. Dumbass

Interstingly enough, she was in the film version of "Godspell".
funny thing is he would've gotten it in 45 sec.
A full minute? Usually, it's only 45 seconds. Imagine if the gumshoes needed to get 10 countries in a full minute. That would be a challenge.

Interesting that they thought Asia would be the hardest, Africa was the map that proved the hardest.
