  • The thing with adoption is, you don’t entirely know what you’re getting
yourself in for. Especially when it’s animal adoption we’re talking about.
Some people adopted animals, then discovered far too late that they had
no idea what they were getting themselves in for! These are people who
    accidentally adopted monsters 2!

um wolf dogs are hard to train often temperamental and people rarely have the space necessary to take care of them as well as occupying the awkward space between wild and domestic as wolves are wild animals that shouldn't be kept as pets under any circumstances. Wolves aren't monsters but they are wild animals, not pets, and require training or experience most people don't have. More often than not wolf dogs have the misfortune of ending up with owners not equipped to handle them leading to tragedy on both ends.

You can't domesticate a wolf though. There's a difference between domestication and taming. Domestication is on a genetic level through hundreds of years of controlled breeding. Taming is on a behavioral level through teaching and environment. So you can tame a wolf at best, but their wild instincts will always be there no matter what you do.

I had a friendship and bond with a wild raccoon and she trusted me so much she showed me her den and wouldn't flip out if I entered it.(she had her babies in my shed) She one day brought her babies into my house and I must have scared one of the babies because it made a growling hissing sound while it took to run towards me,but that mama raccoon without hesitation came charging towards me to beat the shit out of her baby! then she chased him out of my house ,As she chased him out, before she exited with him,she turned and looked at me with a please forgive me look. No one will tell me otherwise that raccoon didn't love me. She knew the commands of sit, stay, and high five. The high five she taught herself and constantly wanted to high 5 me for treats. She one night snuck in my house, plopped on the couch next to me and started watching t.v with me. I tried to not touch her at first cause I wanted to respect her spcace plus I was nervous but eventually she asked to be touched when she would rub against me and lay on my lap. This was a wild raccoon not a pet. So I feel the relationship was more special because it was on her terms.

Wolf-hybrids aren't "monsters", they just aren't the same as a dog, and the require extra care and extra space, and you have to work with them to get them used to people. Also, they really can't be left alone, especially as a puppy, they need at least another dog around, or some kind of animal they can bond with, when you have to leave them alone. Also it's best to have a Lot of space, and you will likey need a run to keep them (and a companion) in when you have to leave them.
Otherwise they are loyal AF, very protective, and bond usually with one person strongly, but mine accepted my fiance and then our children as pack members. I have a male for years, but females are probably easiest to handle. If you have a male, neutering might be a good idea if they are too...wild.
Wolves are also wary of strangers, but when introduced to a new person properly, they can become intensely curious, and sometimes will knock a new person over to try and smell and run up against them.
The thing is that wolves can be aggressive, but are generally scared of humans. Dogs are generally friendly, and generally not afraid of people. When you breed a wolf and a dog, you can get a mix of any of those traits...you can get friendly afraid of people, friendly and likes people like a dog does, but you can get an animal that is aggressive and has no fear of people. Or aggressive and terrified of people, which could cause them to panic and attack. My wolfdog was generally wary of strangers, but passive-aggressive toward people he didn't like...but that was always people who insisted on picking on him, or trying to push him around. (He would try to bite them when, and only when, their back was turned to him, and find things, objects, clothes, that belonged to the person he disliked, and smelled like them, and he would steal the object, destroy it, and leave it where the person would be sure to find it. A message and a warning. So, training and a LOT of work with them as soon as their eyes open, is important to get them to be okay with people. (I was young and naive when I got him, so started too late. Still, I was never afraid around him or afraid that he would hurt my children (he was actually HYPER protective of my first daughter, not letting strangers get near her or pick her up. If they did, he would *stalk* them until they put her down.) Still, of course, I would never leave a small child unattended around ANY large dog or animal. Once when he was a puppy he had 4 kitten friends that he LOVED, and he accidentally killed one by playing too rough with it. He knew what he did, and he felt terrible, you could tell, he was trying to hide and looked sad and guilty. After that, he *never* hurt another kitten. Wolves are smart. More so than dogs. When you look into their eyes, or when they are looking at you, you know that someone his home behind those eyes, another very intelligent mind. (I love dogs, bit most, while smart, are a bit dopey - not wolves, they are calculation. Part if this is because they usually live in large social groups, and need to be able to think about what their packmates may be thinking.
And also, they are escape artists. They can get out of enclosures that a dog never could, opening latch mechanisms and such. Or just dismantling any cage they are in....or house. Never leave one alone in your house or you will come home and find the house methodically dismantled.
Just never leave them alone period. Having a wolf hybrid or wolf is like having a toddler with the strength of an adult and the brains of a teen (in many ways) but unlike a Todd you can't take them everywhere with you - unless you live is a very rural area - which you probably should if you have a wolf hybrid. I did know a man who lived in Germany who took his wolf almost EVERYWHERE he went.
People will be unduly afraid of the wolfdog too, you have to expect that.
Not a day goes by that I don't miss him. :(

You left out they need lots of food too, mine would go through 25lbs of dry food and 2 lbs of meat twice a week, it didn't help I was young and always running around or riding my bike and he would be running right beside me. They don't like eating or drinking from a bowl either, mine would dump a bunch onto the floor and eat it and learned to turn bathtub faucets on to drink from. I loved him though, wouldn't trade him for a regular dog. Unfortunately he followed my cocker spaniel and got hit by a car, totaling it. A regular fence can't keep them in I found too late and there were no deterrents like they have nowadays, I owned him in the early 1970s. I still relish the 3 years I had him, 2nd best animal I ever owned and loved him dearly. He just hated green, lol. I'm not even kidding, I told my neighbor to go change his green shirt as held Sargent back, he didn't listen and had the shirt torn off him lol. I know the rank is spelled sergeant but that's how I spelled his name. After all, he wasn't enlisted or drafted, yes, there was a draft back then. 😂

OK before people start reading the comments on here and think that "wolf dogs are so amazingly awesome" Please do research before impulsively "adopting" one. In fact, if you know not much about it, just leave it alone. Wolfdogs can be vicious when they are not given the physical, instinctual, training needs they require to be domestic and are kept in captivity on a leash / in a cage for example. This can in fact, lead to unpredictable behavior and rightfully so...these animals deserve so much more.
(Same is true for wild cats, wild animals in general).

We called him Scruffy he would live in a tree out the front of our barracks and beg for food from us, He would go from floor to floor and scratch on our doors.

Frisbee. 2 animals i would love to find as a abandoned baby in the wild is a bobcat and a racoon. I know 2 people that have raccoons with no problem. My daughters friend has pet skunks. I tried to catch a baby opossum years ago.

People aren't "accidentally" getting wolf hybrids, they go looking for them and the irresponsible owners are surprised because they still treat it like a regular dog and it backfires

    who is he calling monster?
putting this word on animals is so incredible stupid.
some humans are monsters, animals never ever are.
nice video, but stupid ignorant commentary.

Not true about wolf pups being unpredictable, they're only reacting to your body language which was probably inappropriate... Nobody would breed a wolf hybrid then not tell the potential adopter...
We always were transparent about our hybrids...people think MY cats are regular cats ..but, no they're not..
They're exotic wild hybrids..that's why they were dumped in my yard, they had no idea til later ,what they had.

Wolves are literally just dogs that like to run off. I grew up around enough of them to know. They aren’t monsters by any means. Just dogs that usually don’t like strangers (but that’s not uncommon for any species) and are more in tune with nature. If I was sold a 100% wolf, I wouldn’t be mad. They are super smart, and loyal.

At the two minute mark I start seeing pictures of my aunt Sally Sousa and her wolves. These are not Crossbreeds, these are the actual wolves that were in the show G.O.T. She has a company with her partner called Instinct For Animals and they have several wild animals that they use for films. They require a lot of patience and a lot of training because they are purebred.

Wolf hybrids are not monsters! I grew up with Wolf hybrids and have had them most my life. Best animals I have ever had. Just like with getting any other breed of dog, you should always research the breed before you buy, so you know what you are getting into. Anyone selling people Wolf hybrids without telling them, should loose their animals.

I don't agree with calling them "monsters". they're wild animals that have been treated with kindness and love. the people who adopted those animals didn't think of them as monsters they thought of them as loyal companions this title was extremely in appropriate

OK, just how does a 5 year old elephant lounge "inside her house" ? Even a pygmy elephant is 6-7 feet tall..unless this one is extremely stunted at around 3 feet tall, which is the size of a newborn calf.. Is it some peculiar breed maybe, like the miniature horse or pygmy rhinoceros?
