I just want more dungeon run content, they could make such an amazing entire game out of it. Don't care about anything to do with the standard game.
Forget about it, stop giving them money please! Otherwise the game will never change
The most generous take I can give on this blog post is that it seems like the game isn't dying in terms of popularity with players but isn't meeting the expectations of the business shareholders who expect constant growth regardless of how feasible that is. Most players likely have their hearthstone spending habits decided at this point so with what's likely a pretty steady number of players the game's profits are stable but not growing. Since shareholders want constant growth the team is stuck trying to find ways to save money and/or get players to spend more. This is difficult to achieve with spending habits likely being quite fixed so they're stuck clawing back stuff they do that doesn't generate revenue and try to turn it into something that can make some money or subtly try to get players earning less gold and spending more time in the client to get tempted by other purchases in the shop. It explains why these are kinda snuck into releases. They're not something they want to draw attention to and would rather hope players don't notice or that it blows over quickly. When that doesn't happen we get posts like this. They rolled back the quests changes likely because instead of keeping players in the client longer it was driving players away (Hat said something about they didn't intentionally do something to cause players to rethink their relationship with the game which likely means players were quitting or scaling back spending because of the change).
This change might cause a similar backlash to the the quests change because it makes everyone's money less valuable in the game than it was before. Whatever you were spending before whether it's $1 or $1000 per year that money goes a little less far because you're now getting 1 board instead of 3. Even if you up your spending to even that out you'd then be paying more money for the same amount of content. Why I suspect this will get rolled back to giving a board with every set again is because the only people not screwed by this are the free to play players because while they do get less the value per dollar spent remains infinite.
They are basically unloading the burden of paying for 2 of the 3 new boards per year onto the players who even collectively likely have less money than microsoft but don't have shareholders who expect constant growth. There's also no good reason to take the boards away when there's still so much time before these new customization options roll out that they can't even get into specifics about them. The only way this isn't worse for everyone is if all these customization options are free but that's extremely unlikely to happen
I mean everywhere you look the playerbase is unhappy with this expansion and the game is definitely shrinking expansion over expansion. You're right about the shareholders wanting constant growth but two things can be true.
The TOO SOON is a hint for majordomo executus / ragnaros (part of his voiceline)
🤓🧐
Hearthstone suffers from the World of Warcraft problem. There's too much going on, it deters new players. If HS is going to die, it will be because they ignore their loyal playerbase.
I admit I was expecting you to shill since you were hired to present the latest expansion but you were honest. Good on you.
No shilling haha, I say it as it is 😅
@Dr Jabalor called it 😂 underneath the HS tweet
Yes that was so funny, nailed it lol
The three words should have been: Money, money and money. The game could be amazing but trying to squeeze players for as much as they can get away with is what gives the impression it is dying.
Yep. i am not even playing the game anymore until an entire expansion cost 50 dollars.
Even if Blizz communicated this in due time - the chaos would just have lasted longer. I do think it is a strategy - from all big corporations - to deliver bad news as late as possible. Just look at lay offs - these are usually communicated very close to execution. Does the news suck - sure, but I think Blizz will do it again next time. On the other hand ... good news will typically be shared as soon as possible :D Just look at the esports announcement.
The esports announcement and China having access to Blizzard games is great news. I hope we will see more esports events next year. Fingers crossed!
honestly thought it got cancled back in like 2016-17 after all the drama had no idea it was still a thing
The reason that i quited Hearthstone was the pure moneygrab it was starting to get. 3 times a year I felt obliged to pay for the pre-purchase bundle of 50euro to be able to keep up with the meta and/or to have fun being able to play hearthstone and to have a variety of decks. Ok you can play free, but the time difference you have to put in the game to be able to play free was insane. If you have a normal job, you can play 3 hours of Hearthstone a day, if you can keep this up. Not a lot of people or mentally able to play this game for hours per day. Then came the hero portraits and such, nice to be able to have, but NON ( as I can recall ) are free. It would be nice to have one behind an unlockable challenge or achievement. Something to aim for... This is what Hearthstone is lacking in my opinion. A goal to play the game for, apart from ladder. The money grab is starting to hurt people and i think thats also why BG's are still way more popular then Mercenaries. Cause BG's is free to play, you have every card and the rest is comsetic. Ok also no rewards for actually achieving something but still, you dont have to pay for all the cards. Mercenaries is the same as normal HS, you have to spend an insane amount of time to able to have most of the cards and upgrades or... you have to pay for it. Also every expantion is nothing really new, just new cards and thats it. There isnt any news since BG's that peaked my interest to come back to HS.. IF they wanna improve the game and lure more players. Have time limited events and game modes where you have all the cards available to play the game mode and not that you have to spend 100 euro before you can have fun. They will still earn a lot with the normal HS and cosmetics.. and also unlockable rewards like mounts in WoW. You can unlock it just by playing the game, you have something to aim for, something else then " i hope i het legend again this season " gameplay. Well thats my opinion on HS atm. :) Gz Dejord ( idk why name changed lol)
That's how it was literally since the beginning. That's how every single card game is.
Game is so sad I can't even find a buyer for my 100% collection lol
noone will ever want to buy your pixels dude
I was very disappointing because after all the corporate speak, we are only getting one new board per year and the new features that they will add, which we can only guess as to when will surely cost us money. I did not buy a pre order this expansion when I heard that there was no new board or music. I will not buy anything else with real money until I see real improvement.
That being the reason you didn't preorder is absolutely insane. There was a thousand better reasons before that horrible one.
@@derpderpin1568 Who are you to put value on what matters to other people? Perhaps it was the last straw, because that is what really matters to him.
One thing that bothers me a bit is that they seem to be trying to give this "we are one of you" feeling throughout this post. You just know that this is not true, because they are Blizzard. Blizzard used to make good, awesome games. They were one of the best game dev companies in the past. Nowadays, they shifted focus. They don't focus on making great games any more. They focus on making the most toxic possible game monetization schemes. Blizzard nowadays is no better than a shitty mobile gatcha game development studio. That's why it feels so fake when they're trying to give the feeling that they're one of us. You just know that the devs have meetings specialized for brainstorming the most toxic possible monetization schemes for Hearthstone. That is what they do. Just look at Diablo Immortal and Diablo 4 for evidence.
To be fair, I don't really think Hearthstone monetization has been toxic in the past. But Hearthstone has been around for a while, and maybe has some remnants of the times of the past when Blizzard focused on making good games is still there. But modern Blizzard devs think differently. They are for sure exploring options to make the monetization more toxic.
Gotta cut costs to keep the current game.
So glad that China owns most of Activision In the last decade that really is just great stuff. /s sigh
W content! 🤗
Hopelijk niet😅
yes its dying but its ok things happen noting last forever =)
Why is she so concerned about the game boards?
It doesn't really impact the game...
It's not really about the game boards itself, but about taking away free things without notice and potentially replacing them with paid content.
Bla, bla, bla, we made mistakes but we'll improve. We promise.
Such an empty PR statement with zero substance.
Yep I felt exactly the same way
Youve been playing with a corpse,
HS has been dead for years now so thats a funny question.
Haha that's a bit creepy, it sure didn't feel dead to me
Just got back into the game, its just terrible still and I dont understand why people still support the HS team.
You are the problem!
Join MTG its 1000x better in every way
@@Cedisdead Same issues but worse I thought?
100% I support gamemodes like pauper though :)
game is losing million players over the years and less player peek every month, lowest viewer avg on twitch ever, how are they careless that much about what people demand? every design this expansion was poorly made, not any fun deck to play, and not having 1 dev even for wild while wild has avg of 20-30k players means they can lose half of them and lose more money because of it, yes the highest audience plays bg, but they are not breaking even when people are not even buying the tavern pass from how much they work on it, so they are financially and playerbase dying.
