Beloved Ma of Nayanika and Sreeja, unforgettable Didon of Keya, forever Didi of Pushpita and lifelong soulmate of Dr Shivaji Basu - a real friend through thick and thin.
Adored by all, Apala poured joy into everything she did. Her beautiful voice was much admired at Rabindra Sangeet events in Kolkata and across West Bengal, Bangladesh and UK. A deeply soulful singer with a genuine love for the arts, a voice that soothed and delighted her listeners and founder of the musical collective 'Surolok' - where she dedicated endless enthusiasm in her last 25 years with us.
Remembered fondly, with endless love - by Basus, Maguires, Choudhurys and all who knew her.
