      Aww thank you Peter! And I am laughing out loud reading your comment because I think you’ve nailed my personality in those two words - am pretty sure a lot of people who know me in real life would very much agree with the happy and dogged description 🤣😁

    A bit of sunshine! Looks cloudy on the horizon! The USA was in a severe drought on both my distance trips so when it did rain it was always welcomed! Eclipse coming tomorrow and I think we’ll have some affect in Boston. Thanks for posting! Andrew

      Thanks Andrew! Oh it would have been a very different experience riding through a drought! Come to think of it I don’t think I experienced a drop of rain when I rode the Pacific Coast Route hmm 🤔! And yes the eclipse!!! So amazing.

    Hello Edna! Happy to have found your channel again. Not sure what happened but somehow we were not subscribed, but I know we sub-d back when you were doing the PCH trip. Anyway.... all good and thank you for taking us down memory lane with this video. We cycled through here back in 2013 during our first world tour and loved it. We also did it during the fall/autumn time period and the colors were amazing. Luckily though, we didn't experience any flooding like you did and overall the weather was not too bad for us. I guess we lucked out. Happy cycling and take care! ~Ron & Petra

    well done for persevering in spite of the weather over the last few days. At least sun at last ( i live in Devon and it still has not stopped raining yet)
    Would be very interested if you could publish the route that you took as it looks to be mainly off road or quite lanes except for your detour

      Thank you, Chris!! Ah, Devon is such a beautiful place to call home!! I hope the sun comes back out there soon. I did this ride in October (I'm just catching up with the video edits & uploads on my weekends now) but I've heard it continued to be quite a rainy winter!! I'd be happy to send across the gpx files from my route - maybe send me a PM on instagram and I can follow up from there? I downloaded a ton of route options before I set off, and in the end I followed a mix of the Sustrans route and the Cicerones route, both of which prioritised bike paths & quiet lanes. (Originally I wanted to do more of the Great British Divide, hence the off-road tyres on my bike - but the weather put me off :-)).

    This popped up in my feed today. I watched Day 10 as well but will go back to see the rest of your journey. Well done around Perth and navigating around the flooding. I got confused on a recon' ride at Perth ,from Queensferry to Pitlochry that I did a few years back, so very well done in getting out of there. The complete ride was Queensferry to Nairn, following a very similar route to yourself. It was 180 miles and I did it in a day. Luckily I had good weather and a prevailing wind plus I was traveling light on an audax bike so by no way comparable to what you are doing here. The Climb from just out of Blair Athol is a biggy for sure, but two things that slip your mind when worrying about that. 1) you have been climbing pretty much the whole way from Dunkeld and 2) there is as much climbing from Queensferry to the start of the Drumochter as there is from Blair Athol to Inverness, despite the profile seemingly showing it is back loaded. To travel the length of the country taking the time to explore a little too is something I really need to do. Very well done.

    • @ednanovak
      @ednanovak  6 місяців тому

      Wow, thank you so much for all this! Queensferry to Nairn in one day is no small feat!!! So impressive particularly with all that climbing, even with a tail wind and lighter load! That’s really inspiring. And yes, I was relieved to find my way to Pitlochry after all the detours 🤣. It really is so enriching to get to explore places by bicycle - I couldn’t agree more! 🚴‍♀️😁

    I binge-watched your LEJOG journey to date yesterday - all 10 episodes. My goodness, you've had some setbacks! And the weather is horrendous even by British standards (I remember it well) You are a remarkably good, patient and decent person! On camera, at least - I kind of hope you can be surly and sweary off camera because of all you have had to deal with.
    And I haven't yet watched a second of today's video yet ...

      Sunshine! Wow. But still plenty of severe flooding - those chalets next to the river Spey in Aviemore were within a gnat's whisker of being inundated - or should that be a midge's whisker in Scotland?

    • @ednanovak
      @ednanovak  6 місяців тому +1

      Haha I have my moments, I promise!!! 🤣 Thank you so much for your kind words, and wow well done & thanks on the binge watch!! I hope it was more fun than painful to watch all of the videos back-to-back! 😊

    • @ednanovak
      @ednanovak  6 місяців тому +1

      Hahaha I think a midge's whisker for sure 🤣. And yes the water level was insane!!! My camera lens was not good enough to capture this but some of the homes a bit farther back did look partially underwater when I was there. I hope they've all dried out & recovered since though it sounds like it's been a very wet winter, too!
