    Good video! I like that Chameleon supports their mag loops with products like these. They arent just throw away antennas. They are investments for most of us and to see frequent upgrades is a nice thing.

      It sure it Other Andy; when I made the investment in the 2.0 a few years ago, I had no idea this stuff was coming our way

    Just subbed. My daughter lives in a HOA in the Denver area. I brought my IC-705 and Chameleon Mag Loop 3.0 with me. Tuning the antenna is really tough as all you have to do is touch the knob and the SWR red lines.
    I was just looking for a manual geared reduction attachment to help fine tune the antenna. I did a search on UA-cam and found this video.
    Without the automatic tuning part you are featuring is the motor slow enough to prevent the issue I am having with the knob being too fast?
    I like this setup though.
    Thanks for sharing.

      Thanks for the question. Just like all mag loops, tuning by hand is touchy. With the motor and the manual remote, you can absolutely dial it in.
      Check out this video to see how I did it when I first started using it: ua-cam.com/video/dZ0ddNcGMoE/v-deo.html
      Then as I became more comfortable, I used this method (its an analyzer video but I focus on my mag loop from the shack}: ua-cam.com/video/s8Yuzyq-FCo/v-deo.html
      Oh, and if you do pick one up directly from Chameleon, let them know HOA Ham sent you.

    Super confused.... So do you need to purchase the CHA LRT for ($350) and the additional ALRT listed for $110? Because I don't see the power cable that you call out in your video at 2:35. The User Guide (version 3.0) on Chameleon's website makes no mention of a power cable. The only cable it mentions (Plate 1) page 4 is the C. RTU Cable - indicates it's 20' long with 5.5/2.1MM connectors. If you don't own the previous ALRT and just purchase the CHA LRT ($350) does it provide its own power via the RTU cable? Additionally, the CHA LRT ($350) doesn't come with the separate box between the antenna and the radio. Thanks for clarifying!?

    • @HOAHamRadio
      @HOAHamRadio  Рік тому +1

      @sobpolta3328, you may need to send an email to Chameleon if you have specifics about kit contents. The power cable at 2:35 is user supplied. It comes with a short power cable (maybe 2 or 3 feet, don't recall), but because I had my mag loop in the attic, I purchased a 50' cable from Amazon to make the connection.

      When I set up my shack, and my attic antenna farm, I ran 5V power cable I purchased from Amazon. So it was cable I provided myself.

  • @Drsef50
    @Drsef50 Рік тому

    My only concern is the length of the remote control cable. At 12' it would not reach the antenna placement in the attic from the spare bedroom/shack. I'd need at last 25'.

    • @HOAHamRadio
      @HOAHamRadio  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching @Drsef50. The Auto Tuner box actually stays in the shack at the radio, the remote tuner on the F-Loop goes into the attic. My F-loop is ~50 feet away.

      For those used to manually tuning by turning a knob by hand, this tuner is faster and certainly more simple...no need to sit there and concentrate on not passing by resonance due to high Q. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts.

      You can use the CHA POWER COMPENSATOR with the CHA F-LOOP 2.0 and 3.0 which will handle about 60W to 65W SSB.
