Back when Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney was the newest game in the series, I came up with a theory for why the magatama wasn't usable in court but Apollo's bracelet could only be used in court. I haven't really thought much about how well it fits the newer games, but... My theory is that the magatama only reacts when someone lies to the holder of it. Witnesses direct their lies to the court and the judge, not Phoenix Wright in particular, so no reaction from the magatama. Apollo's bracelet can be explained as relying on actions the person does while under stress. When the person is out of the court room, it's easier to remain calm and collected and keep any nervous tics in check. Once they're on the witness stand and have more sets of eyes on them and are being subject to questioning that they cannot escape from, the nervous tics come out and Apollo's bracelet starts reacting.
Plot twist: This is an actual tactic they use to get the murderer to confess, this was all staged, Phoenix likes to say *You’re grounded* after they use this tactic, it’s kinda an inside joke

@@eway44 it's really funny to me how the first investigation games implies that no one else knows how to use logic. Like in the first game Gumshoe implied he had no idea what it was. Or he was just confused but the implication was still there. Keep in mind Gumshoe was considered to be one of the best detectives on the force and suddenly it explains a lot about them.

And in a case like being in a trial which is very stressful it would be normal for the witness to twitch even if they are inocent
