In today’s video, I’m sharing with you ‘what happened next’ - finding our dream home; a historic English cottage nestled in the fells. This little piece of rural paradise comes with hundreds of years of history and all the charm of countryside living.

Hi, I’m Chloe. I grew up in the Devonshire countryside, though seeking adventure, moved to Cumbria with my husband, Ryan, and our spaniel, Cam.
Since Ryan was serving as a Royal Marine, this put us 300 miles apart (at best). We knew we wanted to spend our days exploring the Lake District and, after years of uncertainty, found ourselves on the move yet again.
This time, we found our countryside dream ~ a historic cottage in the fells and Ryan has now joined me full time back in the North.
As well as sharing my outdoor pursuits, from hiking to wild camping and wild swimming, I enjoy weaving notes on the landscape, history, personal philosophy and folklore throughout my videos.
Join us on our adventures as we continue to explore ‘fell & dale’ and settle into rural countryside life.

It may not seem like it, but each video is incredibly time-consuming to create, so I hope you can bare with my somewhat sporadic uploads. It's a juggling act with my small business and one I am not managing that well 🙈 ...But, I have faith it will work out somehow.
Anyhow, we are very happy with our move ~ it's truly a dream come true. I hope this video brings a little cosiness to your day wherever you are in the world.

The colors seem overexposed to me. I'm not against using filters to create a sense of moodiness but the natural world is enchanting as is, and these types of overstyled videos always leave me feeling I'm not even on the same planet earth as these people for whom everything is brightly saturated. As if they want you to feel just how magical there life is and yours isn't.
@@kareharpies you are of course welcome to your opinion, but your assumption of my own reasoning couldn't be more off. It would be far quicker and easier for me to not bother with any colour grading, etc. It's hugely time consuming. I do it to create a warm, cosy atmosphere for the viewer. A few moments transported elsewhere.
@@kareharpiesAh so she should adjust how she films and her style to suit solely your preferences? Despite running a successful UA-cam channel. Totally reasonable.
@@AutieTravels she should adjust according to her preferences and aspirations. She is a content creator, if not an artist, so she should be prepared to handle critique... especially since im hardly the only person on earth that dislikes overedited images whether it be photoshopped faces or the natural world. Why you are so offended to find ONE divergent view under an open comment section of a public account is for you to reflect on.

I think you inadvertently manifested your cottage in your illustration, very beautiful and seems like a lovely healing space. Prayers to you both, plus puppy.
You have a true poet’s eye. Your films seem to uncover just what was already there. The next shot, the next cut is always the right one as though it was waiting, just in line, to be slotted in just where it was supposed to go. I know that’s not how it works but the fact that that’s how it ‘feels’ is a true measure of your craft. Thank you.

Brilliant. The opening forest images are so well filmed. You have a talent for making the ordinary seem special, drawing attention to the smallest details that many people would never see and presenting them in such an artistic, even poignant, way. As an aside, have you ever considered audiobooks? You have such a lovely, soothing voice that I’m sure you could produce some wonderful stuff. I would certainly listen to them. My eyesight is failing with age, so being able to just relax and surround myself with your velvety voice would be wonderful. My hearing aids work ok! 🙄🤭🤣

Hello Chole💐I have been waiting for your video, we were getting rain yesterday so I cleaned my backyard and pruned one of plum trees and I put off watching your video until today. And I was not disappointed because your videos are so calming especially after a hectic week. I hope the home you have found is truly what you have desired.

Good morning Chole, I have 2 plum trees, a Santa Rosa and a Burgundy which give us plenty of plums starting around June, I had a Reed avocado tree that was about 7ft and it was starting to give us avocados but the squirrels got to it and destroyed the young fruit and the summer heat killed it after that. I will be planting another Burgundy tree this year because it gives a lot of plums and my daughter-in-law loves making jams🤤Chole you have a great day and may your adventures continue💐and if you celebrate thanksgiving then have a wonderful thanksgiving😉

Your videos are beautiful. You've inspired me to go on many of my own adventures, in the lakes and elsewhere. You really are very talented with the way you capture the wildlife on film, and your choice of music fits perfectly. I love making a cup of coffee and sitting down on my own when a new video of yours drops, they really do bring me a sense of calm and relief while watching them. I think my favourite thing might be the little snippets of Tolkien you include within them, that man shaped my love of nature, and I can feel he had a huge influence on you as well. Anyway, time for me to start planning another little adventure I think. Thanks again for the videos, long may they continue to bring smiles to us all. :)

Congratulations on your beautiful new home! Maybe, if time permits, you can create a garden. Like with your favorite herbs or vegetables. You probably don't need to water them as much since it rains there often😊

Beautiful video 😍 Hopefully your home is accessible during deep winter. We bought a 10 acre farm and the seller never warned us that it's not even accessible during the winter due to 10ft plus of snow all the way to June. Far too many people romanticized this lifestyle without seeing them in winter. Hopefully it checks all the boxes for winter.
Ahh what country are you? 10 acres sounds perfect though, I would love that amount of land. We did in depth surveys, including environmental, though we could see the potentials on the drive over during viewings. We got 'iced in' the other week and could definitely do with a 4x4. We may get cut off temporarily but just means we'll have to be better stocked with food. Since Cumbria is coastal, the Winter's aren't usually too bad (we can get ice and snow but it's here and there or maybe a few weeks. It's never all Winter.) That must be quite the adventure for you!

Thank you. I just film on my phone (Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra) and edit with CapCut but planning to learn Da Vinci.

The last video was about the development that prompted our move and saying goodbye to the natural landscape that will be lost. I'm from the South and Ryan was based there in the military until recently.
