@R K it means that being of the same race, one wont experience racial prejudice while the other does. if they chose a black student and a white student, there could be discrepancies in the true comparative equality of the schools. ideally they should have chosen two black students, so that if any prejudices were faced they could be brought up, as white people never typically have to face nor worry about racial discrimination in day to day life, especially in uni - which is obviously a massive contributor when deciding on schools for other races.
