I ripped off my power cable while replacing the digitizer. I ordered a replacement and followed this video and was able to do it in the first go. A very detailed video and thank you for the effort. Putting the camera on your face should have been very difficult but do know that it helped a noob like me repair it like an expert.
I've never performed a screen replacement before. I did indeed break the home button when trying to do so. This video saved my ipad. There are many other videos on how to repair the buttons, but this is the only one that was clear enough for my addled mind to follow. I feel like I owe you money, Cyberdoc. Thanks so much.
Dude awesome video once again! Great camera work ,my hats off to you, and very noob friendly leaving out no minor details! Anyone who can't understand this or see the proper angles then they shouldn't be doing this repair. Thank you for this!
Can the processor at the opposite end of camera be replaced and what is the correct name or part #... This video was very very helpful and would like to say thank you. Again, I believe I need to replace that little processor at the beginning that the wire plugged into.
Used this tutorial in 2016. I will use your channel more often from now on. I love your humour throughout your commentary. I had to stop to laugh on many occasions. Cheers
Static electricity has nothing to do with the battery being connected or not. Rubber gloves do not help either; may actually generate a static. Use a properly installed ESD wrist strap.
I tore the cable between the slide switch and power button when replacing the power port. I put it together to test it. It powered up OK but power button won't power it down. Is there a way to power it down safely before replacing the cable? Thanks
THanks very much for this straightforward video. It was very easy to follow. Soon, once I'm sure the adhesive is dry, my daughter will have her Ipad back after the months it has taken me to get around to doing it. Many thanks to you and to all those youtubers who share their skills and knowledge. You remind us all why the web was invented.
lol this video was great. I am waiting for my ribbon cable to arrive so I can also perform surgery. I have a off topic question tho. When I removed the speaker ribbon on the bottom left I accidently removed the socket that it goes into it. is their anyway I can fix that or did I 100% ruined the speaker connection? Can I crazy glue the bottom of the socket to on to the ipad where it originally was
I have a question. Does the little silver rectangular connector at the bottom need to snap in? I didn't see you snap it in - you just put the black tape over it. On another video, someone said it had to be snapped in. It is hard to get it to snap into the connector. Thank you. (I accidentally posted this comment on a different video.)
i did mine with the glass and digitizer off but when i finished, my screen was black. i can hear the power button working and swiping right but nothing on the screen so i unplugged/plugged the long cable running between the batteries and everything works. make sure to turn off the ipad by holding the power button and swiping right like as if it was turned on before disconnecting plugs. i think i made the mistake of not unplugging that long cable from the beginning. thx for video.
Thank you for this post. I thought I had shorted out my iPad and was ready to toss it in the attic after doing the repair and nothing worked. By doing as you said I got a dim screen and then a hard reset got me up and running. So glad I read this. Thanks!
I figured it out it didnt turn on because when I was messing with the buttons the cable mightve disconnected from the bottom so I just pushed it in and presto it turned on.. But the screen was super dim so I just did a hard reset and it worked! Now the only problem is that the mute doesnt work. ... ill update if I fix it
Many thanks for a very nice video. I notice that the printed circuit trace for the Hall magnetic switch on both the scrap and new cable is correct. The several replacement cables I have bought from China and the UK have this wired wrongly despite the correct 821-1151-A part number on the cable and have resulted in the magnetic switch not working. Can you please say the source of the cable you used.
metalkilla7777 The fake and genuine versions can be identified by the number of tracks coming off the rectangular plastic flex on which the Hall sensor is mounted. The genuine version has 4 and the fake 3.
geoffrey leonard cohen hello by chance you solved this problem? I also find myself in the same situation, would you do me a huge favor if you told me where you could buy the parts! Thank you very much!
Both my iPad 2 power button and volume down buttons are no longer working due to an error on my part (I sliced the circuit cables for both). What part(s) do I need to purchase for replacement? I believe this is one part (ribbon replaces both volume & power button) but I want to be sure. Model A1395, iPad 2 wifi only. Please advise and thank you in advance!
Hi there, I just used your video to replace my power ribon cable (it was fab!) but It doesn’t seem to have worked and I’m worried I’ve caused more damage...... I must have damaged the ribbon while replacing the glass sceeen. Once I’d replaced the screen I managed to turn the iPad on by connecting it to my laptop with a usb cable. Everything was working fine (including the volume buttons), but I couldn’t turn the iPad off. I then replaced the power/volume button ribbon buyback the power button still doesn’t work and now the iPad won’t even turn on by connecting it to my computer, have I damaged something else now?! Thanks
Excellent. Don't mind all the negatives. The camera angle was fantastic. The commentary keep the video moving along. The detail was perfect. This isn't a HBO presentation... give the guy a break. The video showed me exactly what I needed to see when I needed to see it.
My iPad 2 doesn't have the cable that runs between the battery? There is no board for the final socket on the ribbon, the one that's furthest away from the the power button? It does have a cable that runs along the top though, which joins the two camera's together? Any ideas?
I am having a LOT of trouble getting the second screw at 2:45 out (the one for the bracket that holds the camera in place). Everything was flowing smoothly up until this point...any suggestions?
When I tightened the volume control screws to full tightness, the up volume button wouldn't work. Only way I could fix this was by slightly loosening both screws and then everything worked. Then I put a drop of crazy glue on each screw so that they wouldn't loosen any more overtime.
Thanks a lot for this video! I had the first gen of the cable but this video did the trick just fine. I wish I knew there are two versions of the flex cable though when I bought the 2nd gen by mistake. I only noticed once I opened the Ipad
Hi, incredible video. Really good. But I have a problem, I don't know how I fucked it up. I followed the steps carefully and I think I properly installed the new flex cable but, obviously I'm wrong 'cause now the ipad doesn't response at all, no reaction to charger or buttons. Any idea about what i have screwed up? (something about the power supply or batteries maybe?)
You did mention if you accidently hit the power button during this process with the LCD disconnected. The ipad may not boot (turn-on). All you have to do is remove the battery screw and carefully pry up the logic board from the battery for ten seconds and replace the screw then you will be golden. Don't panic!
Great video super helpful! From a girl stand point nails help a lot but I think it would be tough to grip the screws if they are too long. Thanks a bunch for the help!
hi thank you for your video, is perfect , i replace the broken glass and lcd too, for 1 time ;)) and i damage the rubbon cable and the power buttom stopt working, with your help i replaced it, was not easy i am girl;((( but the ipad is like new now and works 100% thank you!!!!
Great video, this will help A LOT. Now for some feedback to make this video even better from a viewer's perspective. 1. More awareness of the camera angles 2. Show us the new part before you replace it, so it's easier to verify buying the correct part. 3. Spend more time with tweezers instead of fingers so we see more. (
Thanks so much for this video. Was having a real hard time with this cable, and thanks your tutorial I only needed one cable and I didn't break it first time round!
The problem was not with something I did ... it was the manufacturer they sent me a cable where the little knob that snaps into the mute button was missing. .....so my mute will not work so I will have to order a new one fml
OH COME ON...you mention that people say your camera is off....then at the MOST important part in the entire video 6:34...You even say its a tricky part....the part you are talking about is COMPLETELY off the screen. Well done!
The screws SHOULD be tight, not overly hard tight but snugly tight just as they are when you dismantle it. If they have to be loose to work, then something is not in the right place. If you leave them loose then they can get even looser over time and the screws can fall out. Also, if the Ipad is frozen off after the repair, then slip two very thin plastic strips under the battery connection after removing the screw and leave for 30 minutes. no need to take off the main board. It is probably best to isolate the battery for the duration of the repair anyway.

i am speaking from a technician prospective you have done an excellent job...

The part I got the sticky parts sucks what can I use for glue to hold them in place better?
Thanks for the guide, my power button works again!
Absolutly right about the volume button screws. Need to be very loose or they dont work....
i had to rewatch because my volume button quit working after this until i noticed about not tightening all the way haha

Thank you for an excellent video! Unfortunately, the glue isn't sticking so it's made the repair more difficult 😢
What if after installing new power flex it does not turn on ? No damage to flex could it be defective
Hi, I need help with replacing the volume cable or ribbon. Could you please advice how to replace it on IPad Air 2 A1566 model. Thank you.

My ipad does not have the FPC connector seen at 6:48. It just terminates at the resistor/capacitor(?) that you were struggling to get off at 5:55
What the.... My power flex cable is completely different and the model is the exact same? A1395?

Hello, for educational purpose I'm working on accent identification. Are you from a germanic country? Thank you :-)
