- Metal detecting this 1700s colonial cellar for the third time and I am still finding stuff. With my Fisher F19 metal detector I have been working the iron bed with no problem at all. Digging relics and artifacts from this old foundation has been easy and wonderful even after two visits. This site has been loaded with old buttons ) and shoe buckles left from the early settlers. This part of New Hampshire was settled in the mid to late 1700s and by what I am digging up in the ground that has been buried for over 200 years there is no doubt. Even with the large 11 inch fisher coil I am having no problems isolating signals and finding signals because the spot has been loaded. It is not often that a site is untouched and never before metal detected so to say this has been a great detecting spot is a no brainer. You won't believe how many more things I have found so check it out.

I’m guessing that whoever lived here saved their used and damaged buttons and buckles in a container or two and the house deteriorated around it. That would explain the grouping of types of objects found around the site. That and shoe buckles and buttons were the only game in town when it comes to closures. There were no zippers or Velcro.
Thanks for filming and posting. I’m enjoying exploring your videos!
Gifted site, go thru it though. Fun to see that old stuff even in it's state. Think of the settlers who settled in this place. That is Awesome bring back the days of old. Keep searching I want to see what you find. Love the green buckle! Have fun! BW :)
Do you think that the person that lived there may have made those buttons and buckles? He may not have been a farmer he may have made goods? You have things in different modes of the finished state....somethings broken. He may have employed some others. Just a thought!
dc didn't get bogged down and recovered relics a plenty a pleasant way to send a Not Thursday
what get me is the lack of coins found
I enjoyed the video and it was cool seeing you get hit after hit, but is that stuff just old crusty junk with no value?
Do you have poison ivy or oak in this area?
Great spot for sure. Three great hunts in a row. Looking forward to see what you find there next.
My wife and I went today looking for a 1700's home site, but didn't find it. It may be in a hay field, so we are waiting for it to be cut the last time.
I wonder, could the household been attacked by natives and all his belongings scattered outside.
At that time. Attacks by natives weren't as common as during the "old west" if you will. Relationships where a little easier. Not to say they didn't happen. But less likely.
Always enjoy "going on a hunt" with you! What a beautiful site though the noise in the woods made me a little scared for you!
I suspect this place burnt and personal belongings , i.e., shoes, clothing...etc was destroyed and anything reusable was salvaged. The 3 cellar holes on my property have yielded kind of the same results. I know that they burnt. One was not a residence when it burnt and all I have found there were items one might find in a small barn/storage shed (burnt ca. 1856) The Oldest site ca. 1732, has revealed the usual spoons, buttons, couple of straight razors, cast iron cooking pots etc. That site was burned by the British in 1777.
any chance that Sasquatch was tossing branches at you? Take care! Good video, GREAT relics, and thanks for showing finds before quitting...!
Third day and another great hunting day 👍. Wow you may get several more days out of this site. You are getting some good finds and to think you just ran across this site on the way to another. I think you said nothing shows up for this site in any of the old maps you have looked at. Speaking of sounds in the woods, maybe some of old settlers are still there keeping an eye on their property 🤷♀️. Looking forward to the next hunt at this site... 👍👏.
100th like 🎉 boom ☺ I think I'm loving this location nearly as much as you are!! The number of targets and amazing relics that you're recovering is astounding 😀 I'm so glad that you found this site!!!
Hi Charlie, third time still finding things. Taking advantage of drought in moving onward. Great idea. Those loud noises scared me for you. I hope your packing a piece. I say a protection prayer for you everyday . 🙏 I heard the loud noise too. Camera caught it. Can’t wait for next Not Thursday. Thanks for another wonderful video. Later, Joyce. ARROW *🎱. 🇺🇸. ❤️.
Great finds!!!, Charlie wish I was there it I now can’t walk very far and stay up right. By the way how is Jen doing?
Thank you for the adventure and seeing some amazing finds ! Take care , stay safe and healthy wherever your next adventure takes you ! Doing well here in Kansas .
I really like your video's and civil history you know alot about. 👍
So much hardware would not be left behind unless there was no other option in a unplanned situation.
I know the feeling when you hear something like that! The forests up here are full of bear just like there. So it's kinda unnerving! Anyways great finds again! New machine seems to be doing well! Thanks for sharing! LFOD!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
After hearing something BIG in the woods behind you: "I had to clean my butt(on)." 😂 Looks like it's been a fun site to dig. Take care, Charlie.
Hope that wasn't Sam spooky sound . Wow what a great site Digger Charlie / NT thank you for another great show. Live love laugh Dig Explore K.D.I.O. adiggted to metal detecting
The noise was Samsquach!!!!!
You have been killing it on that site. Congratulations on all the discoveries. A lot of history saved. Looking forward to your next outing. Best of luck.
Loved the video Charlie. Kind of spooked me when you thought you heard something or - - - someone??? Take care, be safe!! 👍👍👍
Watch out for bigfoot
Tell us more about those bells..
Wow! Colonial- Mart produces 3 days in a row... button spill isle 3. Congrats on such a hot spot man 🔥🔥🔥
Nothing wrong with a 3rd trip that produces some sweet relics. HH and be well Charlie
Charlie, I would never do what you do, alone. I would necessarily need another person and at least one of us would be armed. Bravo to another incredible hunt!
When I first ran across your videos Charlie I though you were Jason Statham. I was like WTF is Jason Statham doing metal detecting. Well you are not him but I stayed and watched. Just though I would tell you that.
There is a conversation going on at 5 min range. You can clearly hear them. Do not think you are alone.
There absolutely was that's weird what if it's an evp if you believe in that sort of thing
Yes I minute marked comment before seeing yours and there’s definitely someone else out there.
Believe that shot was edited in afterwards. Maybe once he cleaned it at home.
I know I’m 2 years late but, I’ve been catching up on your channel. I’d hazard a guess because of the close proximity to swamp (which was probably more like lake or river in those days because of beavers) and the amount of buckles and buttons you’re finding, my guess is that the resident was a tanner / leather maker and tailor / cobbler. Those days settlers tended to have multiple skills; so it just seems to match.
How is it u never really show the item in the ground ....as found...only the plucking which makes it or the finds LOOK fake ...just saying.
Nice hunting. I have been metal detecting since 1973 and had never heard of a Tom Back button. I searched it and found it's a Tombac button but never heard of that either - lol. Most of my detecting was TX, OK, KS and western states. Unfortunately, it's illegal to detect and keep anything manmade that is over 100 years old here in NV (unless it's on private property or you have written permission on you from the land owner). I pretty much just use gold detectors now.
No. 700 on the comments lol! I have too say you found a gem of a site. Maybe bring the SD team there on your way too the next site. Did you find a porkchop? I can't remember as there was so many good finds! Hows Beardo doing? He needs a croatal bell!
As precious as metal and buttons were in those days I find it hard to believe people either discarded broken ones or were careless enough to keep losing them. With enough effort a shankless button could be repurposed into a two-hole button.
I know, its crazy but some sites we have found 60-70 of them. It is a remarkable thought to say the least.
Before cloths were thrown away back then it's not like now. Thinks like buttons were taken off cloths before they were discarded. In fact cloths were often taken apart and used f2f or other things until practinothing was left. And that's when the c.f. cloths were saved for quilts or put I to a rag bag. It could have been where a tinker lived!!! He would have things like many many buttons! And buckles! At would explain a lot! Lack of a stone wall this area would make since for a tinker!a seamstress you would find pins. A shoe maker leather bits.
With all of the buckles, buttons, etc... you have found here-I think this family had a gaggle of kids!😅😎
This place has alot of stuff...maybe the man that lived there made these things? You didn't think they were farmers, maybe this is what they did to make a living???
Well done Charlie, another great video from the old homesite and another lot of great relics to take back to the shack. I'm looking forward to seeing what you find out there in the woods, especially as you read the land so well. I hate to think what that was you heard but it didn't sound small to me though I missed the tree falling lol. Just don't get caught out by rain out there as a trip through a wet bog will be very unpleasant. Thank you for taking us along with you, I always enjoy seeing what you are up to. Good luck and happy hunting my friend love and hugs to you and NinJen Mary-Ellen LFOD
Is there a button factory nearby? Did they make the buttons at home back then? Seem so abundant out there... and guess they pop off during labor... or kids playing rough. In the yard usually huh???
Was someone prowling around at opening?
There were definitely voices in the background other than yours at min 4:58 mark and heard steady voices.I had my noise cancelling Bose earphones on and it was very distinct.
Be careful no one follows you to your honey pot.
A m watching this and hopscotching between you and the UK show time team! And it occurs to me that you all are doing the same thing. And they use electronic ground searching. Both good educational sources.
What happened to your entourage? I miss them!
Great rewards Charlie.
Enjoyed watching N.T once again ✌
What do you do with the treasures you find?
They will all be donated
Seems that you found more than the usual amount of broken buttons in a small area. When I think of broken buttons I think that labor was going on. In this case, it's not a typical farm layout. So, maybe he tossed out broken buttons because he was making new ones, or something to that affect. Just thinking.
Are all of those convex style buttons with a shank old? I’ve bought a bucket of buttons and there was some in it
Sheet metal and lots of buckles and buttons - Metalworker? Forge?
ya..they're from his burial suit....see that big iron cross at 6:22...trick or treat....bahahaha...........ha
You have found a great site! I look forward to what you will find.
You mentioned it wasn't a farm so given the finds perhaps a trading post, or dry goods store? Is this site near any known settlements or just off alone someplace?
Sounds like something was keeping an eye on you I went to my cric mineral springs and I was sifting and I kept hearing noise behind me and we have bobcats and mountain lions where I live near coyote and something was watching me
I own a property in NH that was a wood mill site in 1790. Since there is no water now I’m thinking might be a good time to detect.
With all the buttons and buckles, maybe a tailor/cobbler, so a work place and not a farm?
The shankless disc is most likely a button form for fabric covered burttons
Any chance you could show how this buckles work on a shoe. I kind of get it but a demonstration would be awesome
I don’t know but I think your new machine has something to do with it
I think you’re Fisher is finding more than the
Garrett
Wood knocks, thrown rocks snapping trees, .... hmmm..?
It’s odd that all that stuff was out in front of the house it makes you think the house burned and some tried to save their belongings made be they died in the fire crazy idea
i think im getting close to catching up to current am enjoying yall. thvm for sharing
So this guy sat on his porch popping buttons and losing shoe parts, i wonder why no one bent over to pick this stuff up or is it left when house decayed
The sound was probably only Bigfoot, nothing to worry about!
Could the family that lived there made buttons and small things like that ?
Gunshot? Tree/branch falling?
As a th myself this guy found a lot of coffee can items kind of a waste of time just my opinion
Come to Maine I have a 600 acre permission!
That was a great three days of digging. Great finds ang great video
I think Samsquanches are attracted to ridiculous amounts of high tones on metal detectors. Watch your 6.
Love your Adventures great finds so much history just waiting there
I am surprised you haven't found any coins.
A question Charlie when you're third button sound like somebody was talking same time you were talkin how to watch it like three times but felt like somebody was talking at the same time you were hey why keep digging and be safe
Heard voices at one point, but it looked like a brief edited clip from after the dig, so maybe radio in background? There was a quick sound/voice later after you said "shards and sherds", but who knows? Once in a while, a site will just have that vibe.
With the amount of buttons do you think that these sellers were torn apart by bears
6.00 heavy breathing of ghosts of the past....
Are your buddy's jealous they didn't get to hunt this site?
Great video GL&HH from us all at #XMDUK
Are you armed to protect yourself?
i believe he does carry. he was asked about it a year or so ago and said he did.
Sssh the walls have ears
From what we'll maybe protection against people ..
Really enjoy your channel!..RD
Great site you found, stay on it!
At 5:03 i could hear some voices.
Yes me too
It sounded like gunfire but real loud and close
All on the same side. It is where they hung the wash.
I can't imagine that people would throw out perfectly good buttons back then. They were thrifty. My theory is the house burned down and belongings were scattered and only the metal survived.
I didn’t see any heat discoloration. Maybe they did save the buttons in a jar or box and that would explain why they are all found in roughly the same area?
Biden blows and why is the ad in chinese lol
I’ve watched the series of 3, each day too, brilliant
The site that keeps on giving! Totally awesome!
Awesome dig Charlie!
It looks to me like a wedding ring
Lots of noise in the woods today Charlie. Wood knock @ 4:02 Stay safe 👍🏻❤️🇨🇦
Sounded like a tree limb falling too the ground
Awesome hunt man 🤙
Enjoyed so much 😊
