Inside 42nd Street bar

This is the abandoned 42nd Street bar in Whitley Bay, a bar I remember drinking in myself when Whitley used to be the party capital of the North East. There were numerous good bars in the town like pier 39, hairy lemon, banana Jo's (I remember them having a mini car inside bar), Havana, Easy street, shaggy's bar and Deep. Now it's just a town full of flats and nursing homes. Inside 42nd Street there was loads of old stuff left all the old tables nd chairs were upstairs, old reef bar sign, all the giant parasols were still there, I remember them from bank holidays drinking there, we found a few wide-screen tvs, loads of old beer bottles, in the bar we also found loads of rum testers with all the drink still in. This will soon be turned into flats.

Had some amazing nights in 42nd street, that was the end of the night place as it was the end of the strip

Christ! What a massive, treasure trove packed place, a crime the council has let it get like that on the seafront!!! It is not like it is hidden away in the middle of nowhere. Everyone passes it and peeks in.
It's gonna end up burning down before anyone does anything with it. Very sad, ahhh well.

It's been resealed up now, not the council that own it, its in private hands, shame its been left was a great place years ago

@@geordieurbex2200 yeah I guessed it was privately owned, just you would think the council would at least advise/order them to do something. What a prime location, loved that street, sad to watch it slowly die a bit more each year. Used to eat in a wonderful Italian there, one by one they are going.
Only positive with 42nd St is it isn't joined to other buildings, so if it does go up in smoke for "insurace", it should not take others with it :-D

Wow I haven't drank in there in about 20yrs....it's sad to see what the nightlife part of Whitley bay has become..on fact all of it to be honest.
