Sherwood - Royalty Auto Service. I agree, his videos are super good. I believe they are based out of south Georgia. None the less, his videos are great for any mechanic. Easy to follow and super in-depth.
My Launch X431 has served me well for the past 4 years. The only major downside (I have the larger Bluetooth version) is that it will not print reports directly to a printer. You have to email them to yourself and then print from your computer or phone.
Scan tools can be a difficult purchase even at $500. Not so much the price, but vehicle coverage. I know it's capable on all the major manufacturers, but there are gaps that affect them all. For instance the launch covers Bmw pretty well, but sometimes it won't do a service reset that the Autel will do. Also the launch is far better on Honda/Acura than Snap-on, but the Snap on is far superior on Toyota and GM. Don't get me wrong, I strongly feel that an expensive well rounded scanner, or 2, is something a shop should provide.
Just ordered the launch x431 crp919e bt a few days ago. Wondering if I should return for this x431 pro elite? Any suggestions and/or opinions on the scan tools would be greatly appreciated.
Great video CP and fantastic information. I’m in the Stone Age as far as diagnostics coming from the engine machine, high performance and industrial mechanics background. I’ve been told the Launch and the Topdon are good places to start
Thanks for the vid, CP. I've been on the fence about which scantool to grab for a while now. Between topdon, autel, and now launch, its tough to decide on one. The problem I've been noticing while trying to compare different models or versions is that all of the specs aren't always listed correctly, making it seem like a particular model isn't capable of certain tasks when it actually is, or (in the case of Amazon) it will have 4 listings of the exact same scanner at the same price but each page is layed out differently with more (or less) information. The price of this X431 is good and most of what I work on will be using GM's GDS2, but I need something for when the occasional outside brand comes around and using the computer based Tech2 on pre 2013 GM sometimes is more of a PITA than it is worth. You're little discount code is what sealed this deal. Thanks again for doing the hard work for us when it comes to tools.
Funny bc I got the x431 v4 elite for $650. I’m about to drop 1k for the HD module. That really hits the pockets, but it makes the money. We have an autel and I’m honestly not big fan of it. I don’t remember the model but it’s like a 2019 or 2020. Even with all the updates it struggles with our HD trucks but works good enough for the small vehicles.

Could it be a better investment than Autel IM608 ?
@@jkn2k Isn’t that a $3000.00 scanner??? The launch x431 is around $700.00.
@@nico8587d All depends in the "combo" pack available in your country, but $700 is a steal
@@jkn2k Definitely not, as the IM608 offers much better immobilizer functions.
