Doesn't make sense, if you have a hammock I can understand walking and finding two trees suitable, but a packing tent if you're able to walk anywhere you can set up the tent, you might have to make a little room and take the sticks out of the ground or rocks but a tent is much more suitable for inclement weather
@@buckmaster3594I don’t buy that a tent is better for bad weather. High winds in a hammock is way more comfy than a tent. You just need to get the right accessories
The OneWind tarp has additional little flaps that give you more privacy, it's more like a tent, and if you have the windsock youre completely covered while in the hammock, use a gear hammock below your main hammock for shoes, clothes, snacks, anything else you need lol
Just got into it, and, I absolutely love it. I upgraded to the OneWind 11' setup, with their tarp, and their tarp is basically like a tent around your hammock, so comfy I'm actually getting a hammock stand for home so I can sleep in that instead 😂😂😅
I like to bring my OneWind hammock tarp with doors to use over my hammock for privacy. I solved the issue of running into a place with no good trees to set up on by packing a lightweight inflatable sleeping pad and my sleeping bag doubles as a zero degree hammock cocoon. So if I really need to ground camp I can set up my tarp with trekking poles and sleep in my bag on the inflatable pad
I love the hammock way of sleeping but unfortunately i just can't get on with it, probably cos i toss and turn alot and sleep on my front so ground dwelling it has to be for me. I even use one to sit in but drop it to the ground as a bivvy to actually sleep.
I'm a ground dweller through and through (army grunt for the better part of a decade)...But I'll prolly add a little extra weight to my pack for a hammock
He means 'Just about anywhere' where it is safe to camp. Its not safe to camp in the desert, its not safe to camp on a cliff, its not safe to camp in space. The few places its safe to camp without trees, you probably shouldn't be there. As in private property like farms. Mountains is one valid thing I've seen people say, and if you are camping on a mountain you have more things to worry about than where to tie up a hammock. Its very hard to find flat ground on a mountain.
It is fairly evident that you have never been stuck in a storm for 2 or 3 days with torrential rain going sideways and high winds. The hammock is for leisure your backyard and such. Also you cannot cook in your hammock in an emergency. And cold weather, forget it.
Shit an they even make little hammocks for your backpack and other gear and still strong enough you can use it as I little seat.... Shit my bug net held my phone knife and a few other things off the ground just fine! Privacy part just depends on what tarp you have... My tarp I can completely close it up and bring it all the way to the ground can't really stand straight up but way more than my tent.
@@pauldavies9360if you use a canvas tarp system you can make a hammock when it’s suitable and use it as a ground cover or poncho when you’re in places with no trees. Not sure of a synthetic material that would play those roles as well as canvas but I’m sure it’s out there.
I dont ever wanna walk up on a hammock that needs privacy 🤣
Decided to get a hammock after my last trip. Had to walk another 3 miles to find a suitable place for 2 tents lol.

Are we sure they weren’t with people with tents
The only problem (which only effects mountain camping) is high alpine doesn’t have trees all the time
thats when you take a walking pole or trekking poles. as long as you have just one stick you can make a tarp tent.
@@AlyxAestheticsSo true! Hammock campers always carry a tarp anyway.
I have both. Depends where I am going. You need suitable trees for a hammock. I also have a setup for my truck bed.
Same I take my hammock but my vw bug can fold down to about a 6×5 flat area.

Very interesting. I never thought of using a hammock as a shelter

If you want privacy, get a winter tarp with doors.

That's why you use a footprint.

Bigger tarp. I got a kelty noah 16' on the way. About 100 bucks on Amazon and not as light weight but it's cheaper, much more privacy, and protection
Some camo fabric draped over that tarp wood solve most privacy issues.

Yep thats one thing about a hammok, keeps ya off the wet ground.
Just about anywhere. Umm
Wooded areas. That’s one place lol

if there are no trees just use your tarp as a shelter lol
they are great to sleep in to
Love this idea

You can cook in a hammock its just more difficult
two things, 1. Tarp angled down to cover from sides and above, 2. theres a thing called a sleeping mat or underquilt
Yeah thats why i hzd a cheap tent for 1y of a two years travel lol, or i just slept on the ground in the spring summer time
But you're also scrunched up in a hammock stuck in one position sleeping.
Sleeping pad and bivy
You’re safely above the water....... until you want to get out of the hammock! 💀
And what would be going on??? 😳
Nice hahaha
Except when there's no trees.
two words, tarp tent

“An hammock” ?
Never set camp in a flood plan kid
Clear out a spot like a normal person
Let me see your no tree set up.
two words, tarp tent
just about anywhere (that has trees). good luck in the desert (no trees), or the plains, or some ocean beaches
You can set a hammock up as a bivvy
tarp is a shelter
You’re a sack lunch where i live
Yeah with a hammock you are far more flexible when choosing campsite 🌲🏕👍
Set up anywhere? What about on a prairie?
or a mountain top, or a field, or anywhere that has no trees the right distance apart lol
