In 2017 I bought seeds from The Seed Guy. My daughter was just starting a garden and I was getting back into it after a few years off due to back problems. We got one of the packages that gave even more than we really needed and split them. This year I’m growing cauliflower and broccoli from this package. I did a germination test and got 90% and 80% germination rates. I’ve grown tomatoes from 10 year old seeds also. I try to save seeds for my favourite things so I never run out.
Im so happy I found your channel! We are neighbors, sort of. So I love watching what you plant when etc. This is the first year I am growing from seed. I went from one 4x8 raised bed to this year gardening in about 200 sq ft so I need many many plants! Love your content and you're very entertaining Thanks!
I really like the idea of a mixed packet of tomatoes. There is lots of varieties I'd like to try but don't because I'd have to buy packets of 20 each usually. Might have to check that out next year! Re: Parsley - Stick it in the fridge to stratify for 2 weeks first. I wrap them in a moist towel and place in a bag. Then soak overnight before planting. The parsley I started last Spring is still alive in my MI garden and I'm still harvesting it unbelievably.
Oooooo do try the okra! I’ve grown it successfully in 4b (maybe not to it’s full potential like it could reach in the South, but I harvested quite a few pods for gumbo and frying!)
I received a handful of lose packs from Survival Garden Seeds, mostly herbs, and I had pretty good germination rates. If I had to start my seed collection over again I'd probably start with a variety pack like these. Also, okra is really fun and I always encourage everyone to try it. I transplant them, but I think I could direct sow where I am in upstate NY.
This is such a wonderful idea though! How was this not a thing before the pandemic? It's genius. I think you'd like Okra, it's got a nice green taste and can be cooked or eaten in many ways. My dad's mom pickled her own okra and it was sooooo good. My forgetful ass needs to join your Patreon again. I'll do that now. I had to switch businesses so the wallet was tight for a while. Still doing the quickbooks thing just under another business name.
So cool! I've been watching your garden content for a while, and only really started last year. I have a lot of wildlife so I can't grow many things without them becoming a buffet 😣 But I planted a TON of allium bulbs (400+) in fall 2022 to try and make my plants less appealing. Deer have eaten my holly bushes, arborvitae, and hick's yew (which contains cyanide - and they still eat it back to sticks). I've had animals completely uproot my plants, squirrels trying to dig out my bulbs - deer even ate my mums last year! I'm hoping the onion smell drives them to my neighbors instead 🤫🤭😅 I got some "deer resistant" seeds to try this year: snapdragons, stock and a couple of heirloom poppies. Hopefully they can fill in the less dig-able areas 🤞
@@fluffy_mcsparkle my neighborhood was woods just 15 years ago. It’s more that humans are wiping out their food supply by building homes and clearing forests 💔 When there’s nothing left for them to eat, they settle for my garden. I get mad bc I’m trying to create a living fence/privacy screen, and their meals set back my growth goals. We can’t have fences unfortunately, but they always eat my most expensive plants 😅 champagne taste I suppose lol
is it just me or does make you self grown veggies want to eat them more... i remember having strawberries, rasberries, peas, onies, zucchini, rubarb, carrotts, leek and bell peppers as a kid in the garden and it was the best thing ever... i don´t have a garden... just a small balcony... i want to try to grow at least a little bit....
You’re totally fine, I’m coming off three weeks of commenter abuse from one of my last videos so I’m a little off on my internet tone interpretation. 😅

I get you on the home grown celery! Brussels Sprouts we’re the same for me😊
Super interested to see how these go!

They’re not a new concept, but this particular company is newer. Never worry about that! I appreciate you 🥰

seems like you need some deer fences.

Survival, huh? Thanks for single-handedly justifying my seed buying obsession 😂
I’m here for you like that 😂

“They don’t really double them” … that is not a good thing for you to have said. That is definitely not a good thing for you to have said.

Oh lol I was like “what did I do I don’t remember” 😂
@@PamsPrettyPlants I’m sorry, I know it’s so hard to put tone down in words, I thought it sounded jovial
