    Finding a new gardening youtube channel is great, but finding someone who is in the same zone AND state? Unmatched!! Howdy from central MA, thanks for the great video ☺

    Realized my seed saved Black King Pansies and Wild Violas had germinated in my fridge yesterday so I now have my first flowers going. I'm still trying to get the timing right here in MI for the early stuff, I left it too late last year. I see that gardening dopamine smile you have!

    I’ve never seen this method before and I think it’s great! Especially since here where I live in Canada we just got snow…again…April 21…🤦🏻‍♀️ this would help extend my growing season. Thanks for the tip! 💙

      Hello!! So nice to connect, I literally started making gardening videos because there was basically no one in New England (at least that UA-cam would show me when I searched). I was lonely! 😂

    I had this great idea to finally get started on time with winter sowing…and the temps are 50-60’s for almost 2 weeks now. SW Ohio area…hopefully winter comes back so I don’t lose the seeds😫

    Great video! You are fantastic and a huge help to me. I'm watching all your videos and trying to follow along as we are kinda in the same area. Im cape cod zone 7a. Started my onions the same day 2/3 and today I have 8 little sprouts so far but who is counting...and hovering... and obsessing...well that would be me. But its so much fun. Do you think its too early for me to start my broccoli? Also I have seeds to start Calendula, Cosmos, Nasturtium, Zinnia and sunflowers is it too early for those? Thanks for all your inspiration :)

    Can you tell us and show us more about your sale? Is it just seeds or plants too? How you get ready, etc. I would be very interested in that. I'm hoping I'll be able to find a sale like that near me, and/or maybe put together a sale myself someday. I'm zone 8b in the foothills of the Sierras in California. You've been a good teacher for me.

    can you put soil blocks in milk jugs on top of 2 in of soil so that you don't disturb the roots

    • @PamsPrettyPlants
      @PamsPrettyPlants  Рік тому +1

      I’ve never done it but it seems like it shouldn’t be an issue, although the roots will still grow into the soil under the blocks and you’ll still be dealing with a similar situation. When I replant them I put my hand over the top of the plant and tip it upside down and put the whole jug-shaped soil lump right into a similar size hole so the roots don’t move too much. I know people pull the clumps apart with no issue, I usually split it in half at most because I’m anxious about root.
      Best part of natives tho? They’re tough as hell! You’ll be fine if they roots get a little jostled.

    Hiii! Great to see youuu!💗💗💗. Do you have any tips on Forget-me-nots? I have put seeds out in my garden for years and nothing. Should I start some now? I am in central NY. My neighbor has them just show up every year, she has never planted them. I have meant to ask you for two years.😔. I researched last year and still, after doing what was said,(I forget what was said now)still no Forget-me-nots.😢. Any thoughts will help. Thank you in advance 🥰💓😘.

    I have planted peppers soooooo early and I never seem to have enough time. This year I’m trying JS Jedi (lrg jalapeño) a regular jalapeño, cubenelle, poblano, and I threw in a few fish peppers you introduced me too. I live in S Ct so probably zone 6 like you, but I do live in a heavily wooded area so not all day sun. I am trying yarrow in my milk jug 🤞along with some alyssum echinacea sunflower spinach…it’s a wait and see👩‍🌾 I wasn’t sure if I should plant my dill inside but after seeing yours I’m going to try. I didn’t have much luck with my direct seed last year. It’s always a learning experiment experience for me and I love it! I can’t wait to see your grow tunnel

      I did Dill in milk jugs last year, worked really well! Zone 6a Always looking for things I can winter sow in jugs to leave my indoor space for the ones that really need it.

    Such a beginner question but the organic potting soil I use comes with the little black bugs (I’m guessing gnats) are they unavoidable seems like every potting mix comes with them ? I noticed how many indoor plants you have so I know if anyone would know the answer it would be you haha

    • @PamsPrettyPlants
      @PamsPrettyPlants  8 місяців тому

      Tell me more about the bugs, if they’re flying around that’s definitely fungus gnats and it probably means your potting soil is being poorly stored (so many places just leave it outside on pallets it drives me insane). Once they’re in your house you’ll probably have to treat to get them out. If they’re not flying and crawling around they’re probably some kind of soil mite. If I open a bag of potting soil and it isn’t dry, it goes outside for garden plants.
      So far the best way to get rid of gnats I’ve found is watering with mosquito bits. You can soak them in water and strain them out, water with that water or you can mix it into your potting mix. Feel free to leave more questions, I’m happy to help!

    Can you start lavender in your zone in the jug method?

    • @PamsPrettyPlants
      @PamsPrettyPlants  9 місяців тому

      Yes! I had better germination with my indoor seedlings but the plant I started in a jug is still alive and huge now!
