I love how closely tied The Rina and Chloe and Halle fanbases are🤣😭I can always count on Ungodly Hour being recommended under SAWAYAMA reactions and vice versa.
Another smart thing about the title XS is that it’s actually a size. Like size extra small. And her line about “make me less so I want more” > xs to excess. Because access to more often comes with being smaller and fitting into beauty standards. “Make me less” being about both size and tearing down one’s self esteem and confidence so that more can be taken, and more can be sold to that person.
Rina’s lyrical work is SO impressive. So much depth and layers.
This album was seriously my hyper fixation during 2020-2021, I should really go back and start streaming the hell out of it again 😭😭

@@foxesamu i really don't see it honestly. Sure it wasn't as complex or experimental as her previous work but its honesty and intimacy really spoke to me and made me like her as a person and an artist even more.

It’s crazy how the first stream I got to watch after subbing to the Patreon was Troy reviewing my favorite album of all time and one i’ve requested so often lol. Definitely a sign this was a good idea
the sonic and lyrical inspirations behind this album… she paid tribute to sounds of 90s and early 2000s from britney, evanescence, backstreet boys and even korn. i can also hear more modern influences like lady gaga and pc music.
this album is probably one of the best debuts in modern time. she really set the bar high for every pop star who came out after this

Hi Troy, loved the video, you actually made me revisit the album and appreciate it more than before. I saw that on your wheel you have Mitski's 'The Land is Inhospitable and so are we' and i have a quick tip for you. If you really want to fully appreciate Mitski's work it might be the best if you started from her album 'Lush'. Her whole discography paints a picture of a growing woman understanding her worth and role in the world. It's even crazier that she wrote her first album as a college project when she was around 18! I understand that her latest realese might get more views from the public but I think that if you want to understand it the most it's the best to start with her first album.
