Is the BMW iX1 a bargain?

The BMW iX1 is the brand's entry point in to electric vehicles, barring the Mini, of course. Would one consider it a bargain, even if it costs over a mil? I suppose it depends on how much money you have in your bank account. I for one consider anything under about R20 a real bargain, anything over that and I consider it expensive. Cars included ha ha.

I’m a massive fan, it’s a piece of art and loads of fun to drive. But the price is eye watering. An iX3 is better value for the size considering it’s not that much more expensive.
I don't mind the blue parts as long as the body colour is white

I think that will have to be the gold standard for EV in South Africa: Can you drive from jhb to CT with one charge. (It's mostly downhill, right?).
That's a massive ask, though. We are probably still a few generations away from that.
The car manufacturers or some organization should offer a prize for which ever EV can do that. Competition is always a great incentive for such things, right?

You cannot use bargain and R 1.25 million in the same sentence. Especially for the X1... The 1 Series SUV.
A lovely car but at a R300k premium over an ICE model? A fully loaded X3 20d is the same price. And I can’t help but notice when showing the rear legroom the front seat is pushed fully forward. Maybe change the voiceover to “ rear seat legroom is great when car is driven by a dwarf” 😂

The car costs 1.3mil plus - I think it’s very expensive and I wonder how practical this is considering long distance trips as it won’t reach JHB to Cape Town? But a beautiful car all round.

Can you drive JHB to CPT on a single tank of fuel? No. It’s the same here.
Also, I don’t know many people who can afford a R1.3m EV who won’t either fly for distances over 600km, or have another vehicle for longer road trips.
Modern EVs with >350km range are perfectly manageable for 90% of scenarios in SA.
X1 diesel ⛽️ is the sweet spot

The X1 30e is arguably better value. Best of both worlds - ICE & EV

The right way to buy a car, is to ask Jesus Christ to guide you to the right vehicle, one that will help to fulfil His purpose. Over the decades, I was warned against certain models, even brands. And when some caught fire, I saw that the warning a decade prior was true. As those cars didn't even exist when the warnings came.

I went for a test drive last week in this with a bloke called Jesus, nice chap. Bit pushy on the finance side though.
Styling is great but looks very plasticky. Doubt this is a keeper. Like all BMWs its good for the warrantee.
Awesome review as always. Love the look but owning an EV might be challenging especially with Eskom. You would be a perfect candidate for an all in one go to person to sell a vehicle and insurance in one 🤭🫰🏼🫰🏼🫰🏼
