With Hart retiring in the summer and Ben Siegrist possibly leaving then I think we might bring in two goalkeepers.

Why can't we bring a keeper through the academy , for the amount of work a Celtic keeper has to do in your average game , surely we can introduce 1/2 if the answer is know, then what's the point of said academy

Celtic and Rangers can have interest in anyone they like, the problem is being an attractive enough option for any player.
If you're a good player, why would you want to play in Scotland?

    • @ekzxty
      @ekzxty Місяць тому

Playing in the Champions League? Or Europe, for that matter?
Playing in Scotland is an incredible stepping stone for younger talent, too. Just ask the likes of Stuart Armstrong, Jota, Kieran Tierney, Moussa Dembele, Oddsone Edouard, Wes Foderingham, John Souttar, Scott McKenna, John McGinn, David Turnbull, Josh Ginelly, Dylan Levitt, Ryan Christie, Stefan Johansen, Glen Kamara, Kristofer Ajer etc.
Scotland is treated like rubbish from the rest of the footballing world yet is continuously stripped of its riches and gems with players and coaches alike being taken away.
Scotland is one of the best countries for young players to develop in. It toughens them up, not only physically, but mentally too. Playing against the likes of Aberdeen, Hearts, Hibernian etc is a huge occasion for young players let alone playing against either Celtic or Rangers. Imagine getting to play at Celtic Park or Ibrox Stadium as a young developing footballer… Best atmospheres in Europe. If you can hack it against the old firm, you can hack it against anyone.

@@ekzxty The type of player you need to progress in Europe is not the type you can attract.
If Champions League was such a draw for Celtic or Rangers, then where are all these players wanting to play?
Hilarious you accuse Scotland of being stripped "of its riches" when that is what a Celtic and Rangers do to other teams in the SPFL, and then you turn round and blame the league for not being competitive enough for you. Do you not realise it is of your own making?

@@sandersson2813 I’m a neutral. I support neither Celtic nor Rangers.
“If Champions League was such a draw for Celtic or Rangers, then where are all these players wanting to play?”
Erm, you realise how silly this is, right?
Celtic have had the likes of Jota (sold for £25,000,000), Kieran Tierney (sold for £27,000,000), Aaron Mooy (retired), Liel Abada (sold for £11,000,000), Kyogo Furuhashi (still playing), Daizen Maeda (still playing), Matt O’Riley (still playing), Reo Hatate (still playing), Cameron Carter Vickers (still playing), Carl Starfelt (sold for £5,000,000), Josip Juranovic (sold to Union Berlin don’t remember the fee), Alistair Johnston (still playing), etc..
Rangers have had the likes of Ryan Kent (left on a free), Alfredo Morelos (left on a free), Ryan Jack (still playing), Joe Aribo (sold to Southampton), Calvin Bassey (sold to Ajax for €20,000,000+), James Tavernier (still playing), Borna Barisic (still playing), Connor Goldson (still playing), Jack Butland (still playing, Allan McGregor (retired), John Souttar (still playing), Ben Davies (still playing) etc..
These are all players of Champions League calibre. It’s important to note that most of the Rangers players mentioned reached the UEFA Europa League final under Giovanni Van Bronckhorst, and if it werent for Aaron Ramsey being a bottle job, would’ve likely been playing against Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup final a couple of months down the line.
This narrative that Celtic and Rangers are footballing dinosaurs hit by an asteroid long ago is absurd, they are still incredibly relevant despite what my country’s (English) media would like to say.
Edit: When listing players, I tried to focus on players bought and tried to exclude home grown talent. This can’t be ignored with Kieran Tierney as he has become one of the best fullbacks in Europe, neither can it be with the technicality of Allan McGregor returning to Ibrox after an initial departure.

      @@ekzxty You're being idiotic.
I agree that Celtic are a stepping stone club, but no one now who is joining a Celtic is improving it as a club.
Celtic are an absolute laughingstock in the Champions League and if the Champions League was such a draw for players, they'd be able to attract a better calibre of player.
Celtic haven't done anything in Europe since Neil Lennon and Gordon Strachan were managers.
Alan McGregor is NOT still playing.
Celtic and Rangers cannot attract and maintain players. They are bottom ring clubs who are incapable of building a team around a few quality players. They all want to leave as soon as they get a better offer.

    • @ekzxty
      @ekzxty Місяць тому

@@sandersson2813 No need to be so hostile.
Sorry about Allan McGregor- I noticed that upon editing and fixed it.
I completely disagree that Celtic are a laughing stock in the UEFA Champions League. I have watched all of their matches since the 22/23 campaign. Lets see how I thought they did:
      22/23
      - Had champions of Europe Real Madrid at their mercy for 60 minutes at Celtic Park but somehow couldn’t get the ball over the line once and lost 3-0. The Bernabeu was something else.
      - Went toe-to-toe with RB Leipzig in both fixtures, but ended up crumbling and Joe Hart decided to express himself.
      - The Shakthar Donetsk results I will not defend, those ARE laughable.
      23/24
      - Went toe-to-toe with UEFA Conference League finalists and I believe reigning Eridivisie champions Feyenoord in the Netherlands and the referee decided to give them two completely undeserved red cards and they only conceded two with nine men. They completely outplayed Feyenoord at Celtic Park, and it was NOT a throwaway deadrubber game like some people suggest.
      - Outplayed Lazio at Celtic Park and the footballing gods decided to get Pedro back in the headlines and score a 90+ minute winner. Celtic and Lazio were both poor in Rome, Ciro Immobile made the difference.
      - Completely outplayed Atletico Madrid at Celtic Park, beating them 1-0 then 2-1 before a soft Antoine Griezmann penalty made it 2-2 full time. Celtic were battered in Madrid, which was somewhat hilarious yet mostly saddening to see.
This season, Manchester United spent £200,000,000 on transfers in the summer and placed 4th in their group with 4 points. They lost out on knockout European football to “Kobenhavn” and “Galatasaray”….
Sevilla placed 4th in their group with 2 points against the likes of “RC Lens” and “PSV Eindhoven”…
RB Salzburg placed 4th and Benfica 3rd both on 4 points.
Newcastle spent £153,000,000 and placed 4th in their group with 5 points, in an admittedly incredibly tough group.
I’m seeing a trend here, are you? Teams who have twice the resources of Celtic doing just as bad, if not worse…
