    Awesome Video!
    How do you actually do that Hop? straighten both legs or pushing more from the Tail? giving max effort or just a bit? And for Step 1 you sending the kite just with medium Speed?

    • @gethighwithmike
      @gethighwithmike  3 роки тому +17

      It's a small push off the water, followed by lifting the legs and thus lifting the board out of the water. For step 1, I'm sending it with medium speed. Not fast yet. Good question!

      Get High with Mike - Advanced Kitesurf Coaching when you say small push, is that through both feet or rear foot only, also when doing this small push do you move your body a bit up away from the water or lean back as much as possible ? Ps when are you in tarifa this year ?

      @@vikingh3008 "also when doing this small push do you move your body a bit up away from the water or lean back as much as possible " I would like to know this too

      @@raphaelvvidal Good question. It seems to me that if you did not lean back hard (jump upwind - away from the kite) you would inevitably drift downwind and cancel out the benefit of the whole sequence.

    Ok a boring professional engineer kiteboarder here. I like the "energy in the system approach". The main energy storage comes from our body's momentum as that is where the mass is (especially after the off season). If we ride twice as fast the energy increases by 4 times. We want edging and line tension only to increase our speed right until we send it. At this point we use hard edging and pop to convert forward energy into vertical acceleration, airflow over the kite plays its part during the transition as it helps convert forward speed to lift and that too is squared relationship to speed. After liftoff we now rely on airflow over our almost static kite to add more energy to the system. If we edge too hard too early we dont build enough energy to be converted by our kite and pop.

    Very cool video and informative. But I am not so convinced about the physics behind. It might seem like a good idea to "use gravity" to dig the edge deeper. But I am not convinced how is that going to happen if at the same time you are lifting the kite up, which takes your weight off the board. Also, as you get air you lose speed (same in kiting, skiing, car racing, you name it), and you are actually bound to go a little downwind as you do your little hop, hence actually reduce the line tension. My intuition would be that you would build more tension in the lines and more kite speed from staing on your edge
