You should try the Blackmagic camera app which both allows you to record to an external ssd as well as act as a remote control for one or more of your cameras on a iPad. A side benefit is that it’s free.
I started my channel a couple years ago just doing vlogs. I did it for probably about 2-3 moths and just got tired of it. I have a pretty busy life as it is and having time to sit and edit a video to my liking was VERY time consuming. I do hope to start back up maybe later this year when I have a bit more free time. My setup was/is my iPhone. Then, I would AirDrop my footage to my Mac and I'd just use iMovie to do the editing. For me, editing on a Mac was way easier than on an iPad. I tried the route of just using an iPad and the workflow I just couldn't get comfortable with.
Your like me! I've exclusively used LumaFusion for over 6 years and the whole channel is edited on this. Wish it has what Recut has and it can auto cut out silences and keep the cuts. love that and use that and bring it back into LF. one thing to look into is the new Crucial X10 Pro SSDs.. so much cheaper than the Samsung T series. really want more than one USBC to keep the iPad powered and use the hard drive. don't have the Magic Keyboard but use a Hyperdrive adapter but wish Apple would bring out an iPad Pro with more than one USBC / Thunderbolt port. Mac Pros do.. why not iPad Pro... Anyways.. great video. thanks.
I started using Apple hard and software at work, in about 1986. I have always used the Apple ecosystem. My only current criticism is that the various software options from the os to their productivity and entertainment apps, are less intuitive to use than they used to be and should/ could be now. An accomplished third-party should be employed to take a hard look at that and suggest appropriate changes. Perhaps Apple is suffering from an under appreciation of the average user’s daily experience and expertise.
Really insightful video. Thanks for sharing. I did have a workflow question for you. Have you ever tested using a USB-C/Thunderbolt Dock running into your iPhone with your mic and SSD connected to that? That way you could still power your iPhone (via PD) and record good audio while also bypassing the step of having to transfer the footage from your phone. If you have tested, what were your results? If not, then this could possibly an interesting video idea you could test with a slew of different docks to see which is most effective?
Definitely want a LumaFusion video. But not just a how to use video. Cuz there’s hundreds of those. Let’s see a how you make a video and your workflow.
Great video! I enjoy your content. I find other people’s workflows interesting and take parts that I can apply to my own projects. I’d love to see your editing process with LumaFusion , as I do some light editing myself with family videos.
pro tip from a lighting person, move your light up a bit, create a down shadow. then take your back light and raise it too, such that it's out of frame. it will make your rim light look better. gluck.
Hi, I've been wondering why you would edit on the iPad with its small screen when you have a Mac mini that has enough power to edit and upload? 😅 Cheers!
Hey Fernando, I’d appreciate that LumaFusion video that you may do. I’m going all in on this content creator thing next year and just got my iPad Pro M4 last week. Looking to make my workflow as simple possible with the same set up, with only my MacBook Air M2 as an additional device. Thanks bro for this very helpful video! 💪🏽 🐬 (even though I’m a Falcons fan 😂)
I will give you a Tip: if you buy a Zike ssd it has a usb - C with which you can connect a microphone, so that the only thing that you should do is connect the bike ssd to the iPad and start editing
I have thought about starting a personal vlog, perhaps on Facebook, to interact with my friends and relatives. It could evolve into a Facebook channel. No name for it yet. Would everything you said here apply to that?
Thanks for posting. Question: you mentioned in your video that you use a shure SM7 when I look that up on Amazon it is about 400 dollars. However, your link says it is also an SM7 but when you click the link, it takes you to the Shure MV7X Microphone ($159.00) - XLR. Which are you using?
I am sure you're going all in on Apple. you work for 9 to 5 Mac. I am open. I like windows os macOS android os and iOS. each has its big pluses and minuses.
Yes please do a Luma Fusion in depth video 🙌🏼
@@domingoluis5895 yep pleae do I love using luma
why not record externally instead of transferring externally after recording?
great video. I'm still amazed you can talk for 12 minutes without breathing ! Happy New Year !
Yes! I would enjoy getting a luma fusion video!
Hi Fernando
If you can find time it would be nice to see videos for LumaFusion and Final Cut Pro
Regards
Russell

A editing review video would be very helpful!
I would love to know more about lumafusion!
Thank you.
No problem, glad you like it!
Love tech. Like Apple. Die hard Dolphins fan. Subscribed. lol.
Good regards for your new setup :)

What mic tripod is that ?

Why do you use Luma Fusion if you have a Mac?
🐬nice video. Would love to see a lumivision video
What keyboard are you using?
Thanks for that.🐬
🐬Really cool and helpfull video. Thanks for sharing.
I will give you a Tip: if you buy a Zike ssd it has a usb - C with which you can connect a microphone, so that the only thing that you should do is connect the bike ssd to the iPad and start editing
🐬Nice setup! I always feel like I’m not using my ecosystem to its full potential 🍎
I have thought about starting a personal vlog, perhaps on Facebook, to interact with my friends and relatives. It could evolve into a Facebook channel. No name for it yet. Would everything you said here apply to that?
Thank you
If your mic is connected up to the iPhone how do you record 4K if an SSD is needed to be connected?
an SSD is only needed for Apple Pro Res, it looks like he is recording in HEVC so no SSD is needed
yup! Exactly! if i needed proRes i could just use a USB-C splitter or dongle
I thought you had an Apple Vision Pro?

Why does the iPhone need to run the latest iOS version ? So i cant use an iphone stuck on iOS 16 ?
🐬 Nice vid
We all have different workflows and I’m always fascinated when people from fields different from my own share theirs 🐬
3:09 - Man, I wish Luma would add in a multicam remote viewfinder. Spending $50/yr just to use that one feature isn't great.
Include me in the crowd who wants you to make a Luma Fusion in depth video.
🐬 FinsUp!
Based on some of the shots, it seems like you're an Apple hardware Google services guy, right? How's that been?
I am sure you're going all in on Apple. you work for 9 to 5 Mac. I am open. I like windows os macOS android os and iOS. each has its big pluses and minuses.
Baby Fernando 😊😊😊 🐬🐬🐬
Please do the Lumifusion demo, I too find the Apple editing software, unusable.
Why, what else are you comparing it to?
I got all new apple Hardware Products. All the latest and greatest. But as Software i only use third Party Software. Its way better
why do all vloggers seem to have that same speech cadence? like who told them it was a good sound? have they ever watch how real people communicate?
