The reverse lights and DRLs being illuminated during walk-up and when exiting the vehicle upon arrival is useful if you’re parking in a dark location. While it might be annoying for others in a parking lot, it can helpful if parking where light is minimal.

They did CCS instead of NACS because you're really only able to get the 350 max at non-tesla chargers which are almost all CCS. Until Tesla rolls out v4 cabinets and it becomes the majority of chargers it would make no sense to have a 800v car with NACS. Also with the adapters available, most that are CCS to NACS support 1,000v and 500amps so it can still use V4 chargers but the NACS to CCS I see topping out at 500v, for reputable brands.
I'm glad you mentioned the weirdness when driving around GM EVs (especially the Silverado EV and others built on same platform) where it seems to completely kill regen when going
NACS would have made it disappointingly slow charging. People would be pissed trying to road trip that car. At least it gets 350kW deep charging curve. I can't wait to see the range test.
I'm not a fan of the rear end. The taillights should have stuck with the Escalade design language running the light from bottom to top and not having that break in it. I would have also kept the amber turn indicators. I don't understand why, in 2025, car manufacturers are still using brake lights as blinkers. The other think I'm surprised was missing was not having privacy screens on the rear door windows.
The biggest miss from GM is not having a flat trunk that curve makes it not feel like a Escalade. Also, the sliding frunk tray option is a great idea. I’m shocked your model didn’t come with that stock.

I am disappointed there is no rear seat monitor option for Lyriq (or Vistiq?). When you're sitting and charging, there is no Google based UA-cam or web browsing in Lyriq. The Escalade lets you browse the web and use UA-cam.
Nice review. But as TomH stated in comments not all versions have this seat configuration and its really much easier to get in third row on other options. This executive option was designed to emphasize second row comfort. The second row seat will completely fold down to access third row on a different option. You can't do that in the gravity. But both are nice rides.
You couldn't pay me to own it.... So much more expensive to charge. So much longer to Fast charge - sure it can charge at 350 kw.... But there aren't many of them out in the wild
Never saw any content on the Gravity before this video but to me it always looked like a minivan in photos. The 3rd row’s ability to fold backwards into the floor… yeah, that seals the deal. So ranting about a minivan having better packaging than a full size SUV seems misplaced.
I have R1S Rivian and wanted to try new Escalade IQ. Your video helped me to wait and upgrade to 1000 hp Rivian R1S. Hopefully, GM listens to you and works out bugs and adds more hp, then I will be interested. Then it would be worth the higher price.
Oh look, it's actually SUV shaped and has real ground clearance. Thank you GM. I love the idea of efficiency ( I drive a Prius Prime after all lol) but we can't make everything a blob with a low ride height. The obsession over efficiency in large vehicles seem like an EV exclusive thing; folks buying Surburbans aren't complaining about MPG.
They may not care about the cost of inefficiency but they probably care about range and time spent charging. Unless they stay within range of the house or work. Anyways, if you put a big enough battery pack in and have access to fast charging then it doesn't matter to them.
They could also just improve the Air suspension, so it can ride low when you want it to, and high when you need it to. Maybe some lidar to auto detect and adjust the suspension for maximum efficiency.
I don't think that's true at all. Lucid cares about efficiency because they do. Mercedes cars about efficiency kinda, but then not at all in the electric G wagon - which both Kyle and Alyssa love. So. Eh, not really.
I'm right there with you Kyle. The GM reverse light situation when locking and unlocking their vehicles is just utterly ridiculous! The one or two times it might be helpful by adding extra exterior lighting to let you see does not outweigh the annoyance every other day. The vast majority of times, people lock and walk into the store. The reverse lights are left on for a good 20-30 seconds where, as you said, people think you're about to back out.
@@TheNodeChannel you’re all dumb. I just saw an electric Cadillac yesterday in SE Indiana that definitely wasn’t the Lyriq, but didn’t appear huge like an Escalade IQ. Could it have been a Vistiq? I didn’t think they were out in the wild yet.
@@BillyONeal the issue with not having a spare isn’t that you need a tow. It’s that once you get towed (or use the slime to get somewhere), plenty of people stock 19 and 20 inch tires. Nobody has 24 inch tires in stock. That’s why a spare is helpful.
True, Escalade looks Amazing as an SUV. Gravity does look like a minivan. For me and those like me that love both SUV’s and minivans I prefer the Gravity. I always said I wanted an electric minivan. Lucid should have marketed as a minivan. Lots of people love them. To brand it as an SUV is what turns off true suv folks. Call me a nerd. I kind of just want to fast forward to Ryan or Max running down a spreadsheet of 10% Challenge results and see where this thing lands. I appreciate the attempt to understand what GM was thinking. But in the end, the Escalade IQ is going to go down in history as the answer to the question, "What if people were not capable of thinking about how to use new technologies effectively, but were only capable of shaping new technologies into old familiar forms?" The comparison to Lucid Gravity was on point, and well done.
You sounded so biased against this vehicle Kyle, not like you. Still not a Fan of GM EV'S myself, but you just were much harsher on them in this video.
@49:18 me pretending to be rich & back seat driving “driver swipe to close my door. Driver open my tray, Driver get my doordash. driver slow down, i said driver slow down. And while you at pull over and recharge your giving me range anxiety,”😂😂
Love the reverse light sequence on my old Caddy. They light up at "unlock" (along with headlamps, puddle lamps, etc.) to help light the area for approaching the vehicle at night. Not sure "GM is not listening" is accurate on this one... maybe they are listening to customers who don't agree with you. 🤔
That was an interesting comparison between the Escalade IQ and the Gravity. While it does look like the Gravity is better at using its space, it is still a much smaller vehicle (about 10% less interior room) with significantly less ground clearance and towing capacity (6,000 vs 8,000 lbs). We might finally be seeing a real EV distinction/separation between crossovers (the Gravity) and SUVs (the Escalade IQ). I simply can't envision launching a boat with the Gravity, but that seems perfectly reasonable for the Escalade. In terms of efficiency, I have no doubt that the Gravity will be more efficient than Escalade IQ, but my prediction is that the Gravity will significantly underperform its EPA range while the Escalade IQ will significantly overperform its EPA range. Just based on the size and shape, I'd expect Escalade IQ to get close to 2.5 mi/kWh at 70 mph. Lucid also needs to update its charging curves because I'm not sure the Gravity would be able to reasonably keep up with the Escalade IQ on a road trip, especially when towing. That is an interesting oversight on the rear seatbelt. Usually, there's a channel built into the C pillar that allows the seatbelt mount to slide up and over.
@@Dr.Octogon Who, GM or Lucid? Lucid was using the same overly optimistic corrections that Tesla was originally using, but unlike Tesla, I haven't seen anything stating that Lucid has adopted the more conservative corrections. Car and Driver put the Lucid Air at 410 miles of range in their ~75 mph testing, despite the car being rated for over 500 miles. Meanwhile, the 440-mile rated Chevy Silverado EV came in at 400 miles in the same test. So for GM, it might just be coincidence that their EVs also achieve their EPA Combined estimated range at ~70 mph because GM tends to be extremely conservative while also not really accounting for aerodynamic drag. Based on the shape of the Escalade IQ, it should do at least 10-15% better than the Silverado EV at higher speeds. And of course, with towing, it won't even be close. The vehicle with the lowest baseline efficiency almost always loses the least range when increasing loads or drag (e.g., towing a trailer).
@ I think you’re getting the models mixed up. There are several, one of them does and has been provide at over 500. Some of the lower trim options get in the 400’s. Lucid gets there through efficiency, GM gets there with more battery. There are use cases for both approaches but the use cases for more battery is typically towing or v2h backup. Lucid can do those things, but that is not the primary use case for the vehicle. I purchased a Sierra EV for the battery, I would purchase the Gravity for taking my kids to their soccer games or family trips.
@@Dr.Octogon Based on their article, Car and Driver tested all of the Lucid Air trims. 410 miles was the max range they achieved. I do agree that there are different reasons for focusing on efficiency versus capacity, but that's also why I said that the Gravity is more of a crossover while the Escalade IQ is more of an SUV. I'm a huge proponent of efficiency, but I'm also a realist. It seems counterproductive for Lucid to be setting themselves up as a luxury brand while also placing so much emphasis on efficiency. Basically, that focus on efficiency seems far more appropriate for an automaker that actually offers an affordable EV.
Scout Traveler will have Pet Mode along with Sleep Mode, Outdoors Mode, etc. I believe. Wouldn’t be surprised if the Jeep Wagoneer S and Recon also had such capabilities at half the price of the IQ.

I personally know someone who just bought an Escaladeiq. Beautiful White paint. Most people here buy Black Escalades but every now and then you'll see Red or Silver. $130,000 isn't a flex for some people who have a whole lot of money, business leasing or other capability.
GM may have gotten rid of the word Ultium but you can refer to these vehicles under their platform names... the big trucks are BT1 and the cars/CUVs are BEV3
The reverse lights and DRLs being illuminated during walk-up and when exiting the vehicle upon arrival is useful if you’re parking in a dark location. While it might be annoying for others in a parking lot, it can helpful if parking where light is minimal.
I kind of feel like the executive package should have just been offered as a special 4 seat configuration. I can’t imagine the 3rd row ever being useful. If you are shuffling kids around, you probably aren’t doing it in a “executive packaged” $170k vehicle.
Yeah then they could have made them fully recline like Rolls.
With a destination set on your Google maps, a lot more info is shown in the heads up display. You should remember that from the Equinox, Blazer, Silverado EV’s you have done videos on already, that will all have the same HUD. Unless you didn’t notice when testing those?
I think it’s just becoming more obvious to more watchers that he’s really disingenuous while reviewing Ultium products.
But can you smoke it out and put regen spinners on it?
What a massive gorgeous beast, hands down. IQ sport 1 & 2, IQ Luxury 1 & 2, am in love with the Luxury 2.
This is the best review I've seen so far about the IQ, thank you.
Im with Alyssa, gorgeous truck! Looks better than the Gravity. Gravity is looking more like a wagon. This is without a doubt American opulence SUV.
It looks dumb as a brick infront of Gravity
Agreed 💯. Really like it, even better than the gas version.
Gravity vs IQ. Both have 450 miles range. Difference is one starts at 95k vs 130k. And the Gravity drives like a car using only 112kw battery whereas the IQ gets same driving range out of a 212kw battery of the Hummer EV. 25 Escalade ESV has bigger interior than both. 😮
@@vm2003 Agreed. But, when we start hitting 400 miles of range, I think efficiency becomes less of a concern. You'll need a break before the truck does, unless you're pulling an astronaut.
@@vm2003 only thing is is bet on the highway there is a bigger difference favoring the Escalade based on the Ultium trucks and lucid cars. With the larger battery the heat pump will also use less range in winter conditions. Plus you can an actually tow 8000lbs with 220 range on highway.
That escalated quickly
I see what you did there…

@@UP-To-The-Time better off finding an unbiased reviewer of this SUV to learn more about it without the spin. Kyle is very disingenuous and an actual *hater* of *gm* and Ultium.
One of the Top 3 Auto Reviewers!!
Always full of information and much that you cannot find at other sites!!
I'm glad you mentioned the weirdness when driving around GM EVs (especially the Silverado EV and others built on same platform) where it seems to completely kill regen when going
They do have side video cameras
Looks SO much better than the Lucid Gravity. However, Lucid’s efficiency and engineering is much better!
NACS would have made it disappointingly slow charging. People would be pissed trying to road trip that car. At least it gets 350kW deep charging curve. I can't wait to see the range test.
The Gravity looks like a minivan compared to the Escalade
It looks like one even when not compared to the Escalade.
I've been waiting for this.
The Lucid Gravity is a performance minivan. This is a big luxury SUV.
The Lucid Gravity is beautiful, I really like it.
@@JJMV-sl1ib it’s hideous sitting next to the Cadillac.
@@G-Rated it really is subjective. my wife hates the squished look of Lucid (Air)'s in general when we see them around town. I'm fine with them.
@@petehelme7714 True, looks are subjective. Lucid Gravity looks like a top trim Kia Carnival to me. It doesn’t even begin to compare to the aesthetic of the Cadillac Escalade _IQ._

They're both ugly
Can’t wait to get a sound system test in. Honestly I was really underwhelmed by the combustion Escalade AKG. It was very sloppy. I’m love to see it this one had any improvements
21:14 it doesn’t feel like 750hp because it doesn’t ***have*** that much, it only has that much in Velocity Max drive mode
how's the range supposed to change in winter driving over mountains + heaters on full blast?
I drove a Gen 4 and now Gen 5 Escalade ESV and when I test drove this IQ, the 2 words in my head were what you guys said. Bad ass and huge. There is no car that has the presence of this IQ. This is the way to make an entrance if that’s what you’re looking for.
There is nothing to be rational about. It's BIG. It's Luxurious. We want it!!!! ❤❤❤❤
Too bad we can’t afford it!

Since GM deleted altium, then call it GM skateboard platform. I think electric vehicles should have an air horn option for the air suspension ones.
If you're buying this, you revel in the size and luxury and couldn't care less about efficiency. It will be the perfect urban hauler of the rich and famous. Well done Cadillac. Most people won't buy one but it's not for most people.
42:16: Watching Kyle exiting from the third row was like watching an antelope being born.
In 2009, an Escalade, ESV or EXT was less than $100,000. Now they're way above...

I’d like to see this with a charging port for each battery. Take up two spaces and two chargers!
How do you not get a sunburn with that much roof glass
@@amaanahmed3747it does that. At 65 mph, the suspension automatically lowers.
I don't think that's true at all. Lucid cares about efficiency because they do. Mercedes cars about efficiency kinda, but then not at all in the electric G wagon - which both Kyle and Alyssa love. So. Eh, not really.
Yeah, because they own them where gas is cheap and you can refill in 7 minutes. Try that charging this tank. Stupid. 9300 lbs. what a disgrace.
Your towing comments is the #1 reason why I will be going IQL to replace my gas ESV.
Efficiency is great but conditions are not always ideal. A big battery is still kinda a must. At least around 100kw pack
Yeah its so funking annying
I've never found the reverse lights to add much light. If they wanted to add light, I think the brake lights at 100% brightness would do a better job.
I absolutely hate they started that BS! Especially in the parking lot you'll get honked at 😅 thinking you're about to pull out NOPE!
@@TheNodeChannel you’re all dumb. The headlights and reverse lights on new *gm’s* are bright as hell at night when that feature is designed to go active and it illuminates the path both in front of and behind the vehicle in dark areas so you can see where you’re walking. 3rd row of Escalade seats three, standard in full-size SUVs, whereas the Gravity seats two, common in mid-size, reaching into a full-size SUV (like the CX-90).
I've never needed a spare, most people eat a spare because they keep driving after it's flat and destroy the rim and tire. A plug kit and an inflator is all you really need
I didn’t catch the range? 400 miles ?
GM also has the full size Hummer EV in it’s portfolio.
Thanks so much for making this video. I have a Gravity on order and I’ve been getting impatient and thinking about the Escalade! Perfect video. I guess I’ll still go test drive it, but this made it pretty clear that I need to just be patient.
Be patient it worth it
I just saw an electric Cadillac yesterday in SE Indiana that definitely wasn’t the Lyriq, but didn’t appear huge like an Escalade IQ. Could it have been a Vistiq? I didn’t think they were out in the wild yet.

Yes, on the Cybertruck review, you must have selective hearing.
"Everybody got eyes" had me rolling 😂.

I think those who are not fans of gravity would have been more impressed with Gravity’s look if it was branded correctly.
I've been waiting for you to do a video on Escalade IQ! Glad its heer because I became a big fan ever since the unveiling at the Chicago Auto Show 2024. Thanks for the video Kyle!

The first passenger car with Night Vision was actually a Cadillac. It was an option on the redesigned for 2000 Cadillac DeVille.
Trying to decide between this and a Microlino...
I love the fact that my sonic lights up back and front when I am going to and from it at night.
Great review, as a UX person love the attention to detail to things like the experience of the screen curvature, creating an angled feel. Definitely something that could be annoying or you adapt too, but nice to have it pointed out.
My mom test drove the Buick enclave and the camera screen was so tiny on these expansive screens. You can barely see anything on them lol
I feel Kyle is over-egging the nod and wink to his Tesla fan base that are anti GM and Marry Barra.
You guys need help with your TDS, even when it's not about Tesla you guys are able to make it about Tesla.
Yes, that’s most certainly what happened here. It’s disgusting how bias he is, how hard he tries to push the narrative that *gm* products are poorly designed, poorly engineered, and whatever else ridiculousness he was spewing & rambling on about throughout his Lyriq review, Hummer reviews, and now this Escalade _IQ_ review.
No cell phone app for the key?
Still using ultrasonic sensors?
One thing is for sure. These gm lineup of massive batteries are fantastic battery backups and power banks
Exactly. If this was Lucid he’d be bragging about the things you can do with such a large battery. Because it’s _Cadillac_ and *gm* he labels large batteries as stupid, not fun, and not smart ideas. lol. Kyle is clearly a triggered Tesla fanboy.
42:30 Why did he spend 15 minutes complaining about the 3rd row space when he *literally* said in the beginning “this has the executive seating package” which does *not* prioritize 3rd row space??🤨 Kind of disingenuous to badmouth a feature that is working as intended..🤷🏾♂️
It’s called executive seating option not let’s injure the third passengers option
Call me a nerd. I kind of just want to fast forward to Ryan or Max running down a spreadsheet of 10% Challenge results and see where this thing lands. I appreciate the attempt to understand what GM was thinking. But in the end, the Escalade IQ is going to go down in history as the answer to the question, "What if people were not capable of thinking about how to use new technologies effectively, but were only capable of shaping new technologies into old familiar forms?"
The comparison to Lucid Gravity was on point, and well done.
Not sure why you would predict that, if you take a look at their tract record they are pretty much dead on everytime with their rates range numbers.
@@Dr.Octogon On Edmunds range tests, GM's EVs tend to over perform EPA while Lucid's tend to under perform though not too badly.
Is it as big as the gas escalade?
