11:47 yea ik what you mean about it the default line, it was used it to be the T3 line that comes from the express Liverpool via Bankstown which guess through city circle and then to Redfern to terminate and then form a Liverpool services via city circle and Bankstown. And now since Bankstown line are closed, those Redfern services comes from the sydneham shuttle services.
Yes all trains change lines - only one exception is at the end of the day where T2 trains usually go around the City Circle and end at Redfern/Central (since the default line is the T2, it stays as T2 when it enters the City Circle) - yes the T1/T9 also through-run at Central where a T9 trains goes to the north shore line and its line name is changed from T9 to T1 - this doesn't apply the other way around though Everything said above is in normal operation, there are often track work diversions which lead to the strangest through-runs - an example being Liverpool trains from North Sydney which go from T1 to T3 after reaching Central (these are running this week)
Nice one Mate. Town Hall annoys the hell out of me, im a train nerd that has spent years interested in the rail network and I am still to this day not quite sure which platform runs which lines and which exits lead where! one of the most arcane part of city circle is central flyovers, allowing to do all this without level crossings. No one ever mentions them, what can be interesting in 100 yo brick bridges...
Nice video. Enjoy your content, but it is not a Circle, it's a Loop. If it were a true Circle, you leave Central, travel around the Circle and arrive back to Central, pointing in the direction ready to travel around the Circle again, but there is no track to allow this, so it's a Loop as you enter and leave at Central heading back in the direction of Redfern. Only rral City Circle is in Melbourne, a service can travel endlessly around the Loop arriving back at Flinders St, then departing and again arrival back at Flinders St, a true City Circle.
@@SydneywithSam that's what it is, a loop. Just like Sydney's, it's a loop. Had seen a documentary from the 40's or earlier and one gent referred to it as "The loop".
@@TransitSydney the thing about loops is that they dont really have a terminus per se. In Melbourne, Flinders Street is the de facto terminus because dwell times are far longer and the services are generally referred to as going to Flinders Street (via the city loop) Any of the stations in the loop could perform the function, the other stations being Southern Cross, Flagstaff, Melbourne Central and Parliament, but Flinders Street is where the crossovers are and many people change for other trains or trams there, with 14 tram routes stopping or terminating outside the station
It doesnt another issue at the city circle today. There's issues on it every swcond or third day. The best thing that has happened is for the metro to take away the monopoly that the city circle once had so the city doesnt come to a standstill every few days. Besides circular quay which is the station with the views theres a metro station a block away. And people have been voting with their feet with large reductions in passenger numbers in the city circle stations

To what extent do the lines through-run? Do all T2 become T8 and vice versa? Do any other different lines through-run?
