@@SydneyTrainspottersounds amazing, I’ll make sure to tune in.
The consecutive B sets to MacArthur via Sydenham is "NOT" unusual as I have witnessed this several times during non RTBU dispute situations .
This happened the Friday before this video clip was recorded at Redfern where I was filming .
@@robertmcfadyen9156 one of the B sets was a Revesby service which was diverted. One of the Campbelltown B sets was diverted as well where it was originally meant to go to the airportlink but instead went around the inner city circle and via Sydenham. These are all rare sights. @@cishShorts-4586 indeed. I’m on my way there to film today :)
Wow!! Excellent video. Love the intro and end music. Believe it or not, I vaguely remember as a young child seeing Circular Quay station originally open. I remember not long after the station opened, seeing teenagers riding the hand rails down the escalators. I noticed an announcement there saying that the Lidcolme via Bankstown train had been cancelled. That would be a bit of an understatement after September 30.
@@RGC198 thanks mate! Yeah I have 2 more videos on the City Circle like this one coming that also have a few more cancelled services - this video was filmed on the same day as the T3 heritage expo day too! The escalators are pretty long too at Circular Quay and overcrowding is often an issue since there is only one escalator per direction (unlike stations such as Town Hall, which have one on each end)
Oh yea btw I have a question, you know when the new timetable are coming which is at 20th October, will MacArthur train run to via sydneham instead airport during off peak and peak hours?
@@MainTransportvlogs no. Basically in there will be city circle via Sydenham services AND MacArthur via east hills services. In the afternoon park, there will be city via Sydenham services only. In both cases normal airport trains will run too! There’s a good video abt this that I’ll link to u so just hold on a second
@@MainTransportvlogs ua-cam.com/video/Tp-iUO8fkB0/v-deo.htmlfeature=shared
@@SydneyTrainspotterso will the local train between sydneham and city circle still operate during the new timetable?
@@MainTransportvlogs I believe so. The timetable change hasn't yet been updated on my database Currently it's showing that during the time period between this Monday and when the T6 opens, the T8 Sydenham shuttle service will operate - however afterwards its actually showing T4 trains stopping at those stations. So basically, they're alternating between trains that stop at St Peters and trains that stop at Erskineville. Instead of stopping at BOTH stations, T4 line trains will stop at only one or the other (depending on the route it takes at Sutherland). its interesting though, I think they're using T4 services as a temporary solution for the moment - at least until the new timetable is ready with T8 services through those stations! The timetable change is on October 20th, I think that from when the T6 runs to October 20, we will see T4 trains stopping at St Peters & Erskineville (Not both, but either one of them). NOTE: The database I'm on goes till October 16, the changes are on October 20 so its a 4 days wait :)
ill have to dig deeper to answer your broader question though, because on my system its showing that from October 6 to October 16, T4 trains will stop at those stations and the T8 shuttle will cease to exist for that time period. I'm very curious too! Not sure if this actually has relevance to the T6 or not.

Wish Bankstown Metro station was built underground but that would require a longer closure and cost a lot more. Make extending it to Liverpool later down the track much easier though. With metro only going as far as Bankstown I can see many people driving there instead of changing to the T6. They should build a mega parking lot above the station in my opinion to accommodate the extra traffic, or we could just make the T6 run on a less crap schedule (prob the cheapest option but people don’t want to have to change trains). Thing is though in most modern world cities, most rides require transfers. Also some of the stations west of Bankstown, many of their residents are probably more likely to work in parramatta, Sydney’s other cbd, so a direct service there would probably be more beneficial. I hardly see anyone use Yagoona or Birrong. Yagoona is next to a school though. But Birrong, there isn’t anything really
@@electro_sykes there isn’t really space along the T3 corridor for a dive sight that can go under the existing Sydney trains station though, I do find your vision interesting though! The T6 will be run by 4 car M sets
The metro conversion to Liverpool would be a bit too costly I’d imagine? Whereas metro to Macarthur or Glenfield would be easier to build since everything is still fairly open. Being someone living in Glenfield I love the idea of having access to both airports via the train with only a 15 min walk away from the station. Just build two new metro platforms with walkways to connect to existing Sydney train network, similar to what Bankstown station is doing today.
Will they turn the all the lines to metro?
They may convert more in the future but the major shared corridors look like central to parramatta, would be impossible to convert
@@cishShorts-4586 no, just the T3. Only reason the T3 was converted is because they didn’t want to end the line too close to the city (Sydenham) and were choosing between Hurstville & Bankstown. Ultimately Bankstown was chosen
They need more capacity going along that corridor during peak - this is the answer to that.
@@declanwinchester5146 Yeah and file reports showed a surge in demand for public transport in both the T3 and T4, the problem with the T4 is the it would be more expensive to construct being between train lines, unlike the T3 which is independently run. They also needed capacity on the City Circle for more trains more services program (which has sort off worked out tbh)
About 80 metres of the existing platforms (where you were standing) will be demolished and a new station concourse built there. You can see that the land on the south and north sides has been cleared in preparation for constructing the new main entrances.

Hey, you know trip view app, it shows there is trackwork next week 28th and 29th September between Campsie and Bankstown but is the timetable gonna be reinstall?
@@MainTransportvlogs hey mate! My friend coded a website that’s better than trip view or anytrip in showing that kinda deets because it has daily updates. I’ll link it to you in this feed. I use it a lot to get all my rare sights! For instance, try filtering Hurstville -> XPT and see what it gives you :) Answering your question though, the timetable is PROBABLY gonna be reinstated and the Tangara services are unlikely to happen. It depends though, we never know for certain!
tripconstruct.neocities.org/triplists/
@@SydneyTrainspotter actually Tangara are gonna run the Bankstown line at this weekend
Were they ever officaly timetabled to run on the T4 and if so were they only peak hour? or were the trains bought in for industrial actions or tangras shitting themselves
They ran for the entire day - A57, A7 and B13 did shuttles between Hurstville and the City Circle (with the intersection point being Banksia i.e. 2 Waratahs pass each other there whilst the 3rd is at Circular Quay). These were timetabled on the T4 3 days prior to running, so I got a few clips of them! After a ban on all foreign built trains, there was flooding on a lot of Sydney trains lines so the union lifted bans on a few Waratahs, and these were deployed on the T4 (because the T4 had a half hourly/hourly frequency which was pathetic, so the Waratahs used P1 and P2 tracks). This all happened on a Thursday. The following Wednesday & Friday, the same thing happened with Millennium M Sets which ran using exact same timetable as above^^ hope this helped!
also the reason why Waratahs were used opposed to Tangaras is because the majority of T4 Tangaras was reshuffled to run on other lines (literally every single line on the network lol), and rearranging them back would be useless. Waratahs have run down the T4 in disruptions a few times in the past, with the most recent being 10 weeks ago when a T3 B Set was diverted - the time before that was this clip :)
@@SydneyTrainspotter Hi can i ask you somthing how are the waratahs running on the t4 line if they have no power supply?
@@SydneyTrainspotter Nice, its so cool to see another train other than an oscar or tangara on the t4 lol
@@cishShorts-4586 they can run to Hurstville but no further than that. One set at a time can do the journey and they have tested to Cronulla and the south coast (especially the B sets which also ran to Martin Place) in the past. However if too many run it overloads the power supply and because the T4 has older sub stations, it can’t always handle it. That is why 3 sets were used on that day, and it’s why the T4 is only used as a diversion under extremely circumstances (example if the T3 is closed and T8 is flooded, a train at Sydenham has no choice but to go down to Hurstville

Hey! I was going to make a T3 Bankstown line movie not you!
Go ahead mate! I made 2 movies already lol from filming on the final 2 days of weekday operation :)
Good riddance, the Bankstown Line has been enormously problematic dor the network for decades and has quite poor utilisation for a major innercity rail corridor plus a shit frequency.
You're not wrong mate! It's very old which means that any upgrades involve a lot of planning too because there's no measurements available (so they have to remeasure every single thing). The goods line doesn't have overhead wiring or else it would provide the perfect alternative during disruptions. The actual T3 line is always used sparingly and I'm not sure why frequencies are always so terrible.
@@SydneyTrainspotter true and when metro extended to Bankstown, frequency wont be a problem
@@MainTransportvlogs yup the media seems to only care abt the next year of inconvenience opposed to the next decade of faster services! It makes the metro look like a small project when its a big game changer - I would be happy to be selected if I was a T3 commuter!
and people at birrong and yagoona kick up a stink about loosing their trains. I have never seen anyone even get off at those stations so if anything, 100% proves why keeping them open are a waste. But at leats the T6 shuttle will be retained
@@electro_sykes the T6 will be a 4 car M set. I think they’re in a losing position but it’s better than not having anything at all. The frequency of the T6 is the same as the T7 which isn’t ideal.
So this Sunday will be last day of t3 Bankstown line operation?
@@MainTransportvlogs correct! Unless it changes again (which I doubt) - im still happy with my 2 movie videos because they were the last weekdays of the T3 with M and K sets featured, unlike the weekend which rn is literally just Waratahs (not even Tangaras)
mate I just got intel that the T3 will actually be closed all at once on the 30th. That means that standard timetable will be reinstated for this week again, and it will close all in one go! This isn't 100% confirmed but its highly likely and also makes sense.
@@SydneyTrainspotter so basically you mean next week Sunday 29th September will be last day of T3 Bankstown line?
@@SydneyTrainspotter oh yea actually yes it will close all once because I got an email yesterday from southwest link that during the final closure, it’s postponed and train will operate during that time.
@@MainTransportvlogs yup I believe so
You said it was Revesby service...

Every weekday, some services to Campbelltown and Macarthur were also going via Sydenham.
@@was9503RBLXNewAccount correct and this clip features a Revesby service that was diverted from the airport link to here (hence why it is a rare sight)
See they can run waratah on the t4 line! they are just not bothered to and don't want to!!
If they can't run waratah just run Oscars in the t4 line or replace the interior of the t set into B set interior
@@cishShorts-4586 first of all, this isn't a T4 Waratah, its a T8 one that has been diverted to go via Tempe on the T4 line - your first point is valid but it's for convenience and it's not about them being lazy at all. Think of it this way: Waratahs are all stored at Auburn and other maintenance centres, NONE of which the T4 passes through - so why would Waratahs do this journey?
Tangaras were built decades ago and for convenience they are used on the T4 because they are stored at Mortdale, it makes sense to run the T4 using them. A full fleet of Oscars is incredibly dreamy because you'd have to spend a lot of money adding power substations so the Oscars don't overload the wiring and break it.
@@cishShorts-4586 Finally you said they should replace the interior of the Tangara into a B set. Why would they do that??? The Tangara interior is completely fine as it is - It is Australian built unlike Waratahs which are built overseas. At that point a new train should be made (replacing an interior of a train that is DECADES old is a ridiculous pitch and not one the government would even consider!)
@@SydneyTrainspotter Man im sorry i take the train on t4 man and im just done with loud aircon and the air brakes are loud as fuck bro.
I read "Software Update". All my mind sees are trains coming to a sudden stop while Windows forces an update at the most inconvenient moment.
Well... it was a software update that happened at a less busy time and hence why it went unnoticed!
@@SydneyTrainspotter It's not a Windows update then. 😜
Oh that’s interesting! But it’s kinda useless because the train always goes in the same route and same stations. It also doesn’t show as much as the train.
@@2Blue2BeKing agreed but it’s still better than the original I’d say - before the boards had zero life to them, at least now there’s different phases so it shows different things (eg next 5 trains and times for those, current train and where it’ll stop, safety notif, doors opening/closing notif)
@@SydneyTrainspotter fair enough, I agree!
@@2Blue2BeKingme too! I must say I was expecting a giant car :)
Kinda going towards the same Sydney train theme of showing every station stopping for that train, but wouldn’t that be moot really since it’s always the same pattern
@@Gary-vv5gt yes and also no. It’s better to show where the train is going because often times the platforms look identical and ppl can take the wrong train haha. Also, it helps with new commuters who are using the city section (where it can be confusing if Gadigal is before Martin Place, things like that) It’s better than only showing Tallawong
@@SydneyTrainspotterI think it is a bit nonsensical and a waste of space. Unless there are service changes which can be announced in other ways, a simple “L6 Plaça Catalunya: 4 min, 16 min” is enough, line number, destination, departures
@@hypernewlapse there is more than enough space for useful announcements 😅 What’s the alternative, a dead screen with no life?
@@SydneyTrainspotter I just think having a separate TV monitor for each line going through the station is a aste of raw materia ane electricity, plus, if the service pattern change and new lines are added or deleted you have to add or take screens from each station? for stations with a fixed stopping pattern (like metros, where each plattform always sees the same services), nondigital signage is enough; and for dynamically allocated services (like regional rail that doesnt always go to the same plattform) a common screen saying Hour, Line, Destination, plattform, like "12:23 RE4 Hamburg Altona 7"
@@hypernewlapse disruptions often occur and in the event of those communicating is important. A few weeks ago all metro services had to end at Bella Vista, if there weren’t announcements for this then passengers would go all the way there only to be forced onto buses or told to turn back.
