He’s got such a fluid feel and yet the technicalities never take the backseat. He’s grown and refined so much in just these past five short years since this was recorded as well. Tremendous musician in every sense.
About 100 years ago the tuba began to be dropped in favour of the string bass because it was believed that the tuba was not versatile enough. Theon Cross has proved 100 years of jazz history wrong!
Brilliant stuff, great dynamic throughout - and the tuba supplying the bass part rounds the sound out and gives a wider range of possible voicings - love Moses! Especially glad that it's UK because it means some chance of seeing this live!
DAMN GOOD! This is very nice and beautiful. Thank you to the boiler room, for a session like this (not always edm's music) and these new colors to the boiler room in my opinion. I hope there will be more sessions like this. Thank you so much friend. BIG FANS from INDONESIA!
1st song gave me shivers, and was somewhat eye-opening at (even having heard Buddy Rich) what can one do with such a simplistic drum kit. Nevertheless I think that he could utilize a couple more cymbals say the least, or a 7-piece kit. Maybe it's just me, but I can hear the music calling for more. (shrugs)
I believe in time to come this tune will be heavily sought after if people ( me included) have any sense. I for one am on a mission to seek and find out what this tune is and buy some Modes Boyd. They all are an extremely bunch of talented musicians playing with him as well. That's the other reason why he sounds so fat and chunky with a hint of jam. He hasn't been eating chips has he? lol
Geez the sax solo on Rye Lane Shuffle, that's fucking amazing Also me: But pls give others a chance to have their improv. It's a jam session etiquette.
Kind of Hippster Jazz like James Francis, Theo Cocker, Immanuel Wilkins, Nubia Garcia, GoGoPeguin and all those Blue Note groups sounding nearly exactly the same.
Here you go! 00:00 - Intro 02:10 - Axiom 10:25 - N4N 18:39 - Drum solo 21:20 - Parallax 30:35 - Axis Blue 36:48 - Nocturne 45:28 - Rye Lane Shuffle 55:30 - Waiting On The Night Bus
Yeah I know what you mean Monk, I like it, nice change, loving hearing all the details in the drummers playing, I'll definitely be returning to this one. Maybe it works better for this set because it's Boiler Room, so most subscribers will listen to drum heavy dance music, might make it more appealing to their ears which can only be a good thing.
This is how I play tuba! Theon Cross, you make me believe there's a life for me out there.
He’s got such a fluid feel and yet the technicalities never take the backseat. He’s grown and refined so much in just these past five short years since this was recorded as well. Tremendous musician in every sense.
Damn it. Hands down the best visuals have been experienced so far.
Damn
I think the drummer is amazing, and all the musicians are very adept to their spot in this group.

The front pocket. The back pocket. The top pocket. The man owns them all. Wouldn’t break stride if he was struck by lightning.
About 100 years ago the tuba began to be dropped in favour of the string bass because it was believed that the tuba was not versatile enough. Theon Cross has proved 100 years of jazz history wrong!
Astounding, jaw dropping performance, by some incredibly tight musicians. A thorough understanding of all that is music.
transcendence. every time
Artie Zaitz is preatty amazing on his guitar!
Brilliant stuff, great dynamic throughout - and the tuba supplying the bass part rounds the sound out and gives a wider range of possible voicings - love Moses!
Especially glad that it's UK because it means some chance of seeing this live!

They're all class musicians, but that trumpet player from 50:26 is on fire. Love the hand off from the sax player to trumpet.

One of the best boilers!
This is sensational! Wow. Loved the tuba solo.
To me, the title of 'best jazz drummer in the wotrld today could go either to Moses Boyd or to Femi Koleoso.

I want the sax panned to the left a bit, its getting obscured, and I want the sax a bit louder too
I want the sax panned to the RIGHT what r u even THINKING M8
Calm with the caps. The sax is already panned to the right, you want it more to the right?
Switch the cables to your speakers.
I find this extremely, unbearably boring. Probably because I have been an Ornette Coleman fan for over 50 years now.
I dancd a bit lik Bill Cosby to this....wait......wut
Moses boyd - nas colab?? Cmon would be amazing
