Been a silent subscriber for a bit now and just want to thank you for the recommendation of My Dark Vanessa. It moved me so deeply that even after just finishing it hours ago, I’m still crying. It was an important read and one that many women readers interested in darker themes will probably find compelling or relate to. Thank you for introducing me to it and keep doing what you do 🙏🏻❤️
First of all, your soft spoken is perfect. And second of all, I bought my dark Vanessa a while ago and I’ve been building up the courage to read it. I like your review of it and I’m definitely gonna read it asap
I have read 3 of these books - The Light Between Oceans, My Dark Vanessa and Malibu Rising and I agree with your reviews 100%. I gave them all the same ratings and loved/disliked the same things. I really appreciate your thoughts about My Dark Vanessa and found what you shared very comforting. You are the first book tuber I have found who has the same reading taste as my own - so I’m excited to continue following you and getting new book recommendations! ❤
Thank you for posting this. I don’t read as many books as you so it’s incredible to hear you talk about what you’ve read 🏆📖 you’re amazing 🌸 hope you have a good week ⭐️
Just commenting to say I couldn't really get into The Night Circus because of the strong focus on setting, but I LOVED The Starless Sea. I think it has stronger characters and plot, as well as an amazing setting. Especially if you like stories, it's just so amazing. One of my favorite standalone!
Thank you for the insightful reviews. On the notion of how long or short can a short story be: there was a Hungarian writer, István Örkény, who is famous for his 'One-minute Short Stories' (Egyperces novellák), which are, shockingly, really just one-minute reads, but are surprisingly deep & witty (and, sometimes, pretty dark). I don't know whether an English translation exists, but as popular as his works are, it is quite possible. (He also wrote one of the best 20th-century historical satires, ' Tóték'.)🙂
I haven’t read any books since my late teens, which is quite some time ago now 😅 I was obsessed with Dean Koontz back then, and the occasional Stephen King book. I’m going to get a copy of The House Across The Lake and give it a go! Love your channel, you’re my fav asmr artist. Thank you for helping me sleep, and making me want to read a book again! 🙏💤📖
I’ve read Mary Jane and The House Across the Lake in audiobook loans from my library. Really enjoyed them. Like your Kindle decorations. You might like The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth. It’s a thriller (tw suicide and mental health)
