Regular maintenance kept my '93 F150 XL 300cui I6 going from my Grandfather to my Dad to me for 754,000 miles. The guy I sold it to in 2023 is still driving it to pick up scrap metal in Miami.
@@boltbreakgarage3842no they ain't. I blast mine through the gears like a pissed off teenager and have for years. Fill it with 30w and forget about it
I worked with an older guy back in the late nineties and his f150 had 150,000 miles on the clutch before he changed it, and his mechanic said it still looked good. The gentleman’s truck was an early 90’s f150.
I have an '89 super cab 4x4, straight six 5 speed. My dad bought it new, I've had it for the last 24 years. It's outlived every other vehicle I've owned. I drive it all the time.
Loved the 80-96 F series. My ‘84 and my ‘95 were some of the best trucks and took a beating. Biggest issues on this generation seems like the radiator support on these all rotted away. That regular cab shortbox 4x4 would be a riot with a 5.8 and one of the new updated tremec NV4500 4x4 5 speeds. While the TTB could have a habit of chewing up front tires, a nice SAS (solid axle swap) with a 78-79 front F150 D44 would be simple and make this F150 a lot better for a small lift and some 33’s.
Nice truck. These Bull and Brick Nose Fords have become THE hot truck build out here in the Southwest Triangle. Both 2wd and 4wd and both long bed and short bed. They are affordable, the parts are still plentiful, it's easy to put a more powerful engine and although I'm not a "Ford guy" they aren't bad looking trucks, Alot of them are being built as Daily drivers but there's more than a few that are full custom builds, I have a buddy in my Car Club that has an 1980 F100 that he's building into a lowered street truck on the cheap and it looks bad-ass.
What about the twin eye being bushing? Does it look like they’re replacing that? The power steering pump can be replaced by a Chevy Saginaw pump. It’s much quieter and a lot stronger.
Looks just like my 94 5.0 4x4 manual single cab short bed with 365k miles. Mine has way more body rust and no stripes though, lol. Oh, and it has the factory grille and chrome bumpers. Same blue though, haha.
😊😊😊...Well, he most definitely covered all the problem points in these old OBS's...Especially, that "Slave Clutch Assy"... Had a 1994 Ford f150 with the 4.9/300 and 5 speed...Previous owner did a Reman tranny, but didn't change the Secondary Clutch...Guess which part went out...???. Yup, Secondary Clutch...Now, you can't shift or take the tranny outta gear without yanking it out or slamming it into gear... Would've been nice if they left a parts list and from where they sourced them...
Soft spot in my heart factory orderd a 1996 F-150 with the 4.9 long bed 4X4 5 speed the only truck engine that had a better low end torque rating was the 7.3 powerstroke, ordered it no stickers.Good truck traded it in for a 1999 F-250 powerstroke 6 speed standered still have it. 242000 miles
When are going to bring back the engine mods series we really would love to see the 4.7 powertech it has a bed plate for the crank that is stronger than the 5.7 hemi so i wonder how much potential it got unfortunately there isnt much aftermarket support
NOT a rustbelt truck. BS. In my area this condition low end starts at $10,000(upstate NY). Also you can get a full BRAND NEW headlight assembly for these trucks super cheap still. This gen they are a "B" to take out. Once they are out for my money, new ones always went in. Looks so much better too.
You shouldn't use a ratchet to break bolts loose. The ratchet mechanism and teeth are not made to withstand that abuse in the long run. Either use a wrench or a breaker bar.
@@Kenscorner12yeah lmao braker bar is in my emergency drawer. My fav. Snap on rachet I've had long long time works good for tight bolts and lose one's.
If you actually used good tools you'd know you don't break the gear or pawl you twist of the head and the tool guy replaces it for free. You don't work on anything professionally stop giving advice you've read in a book.
M5odr2 is fine. I’ve got one behind a 5.8 on an identical truck, same color too. Before you tell me they never came behind the 5.8, my truck was originally 300/2wd. It’s now 5.8/4x4 with the manual trans. The ratios for a daily driver are much better than the ZF. As long as you fix the leaking shift rail plugs and keep good fluid in it they will last.
@@jonathanallen8236 what do you mean the ratios for daily driving are better, the overdrive is lower which doesn't help on an engine that doesn't make power over 2,500 RPM.
Junk.. the only 90s Furds I mostly see still running are powered by the diesel engine that Furd didn't make...lol...Gas models are a rare sighting around here.. FoRdS aRe tHE BeST 🙄😂 meanwhile there's GMT400's everywhere with a 350 that are still daily driven

The original grill would look way better , all it needs is a quick paint job to look new . Put that new one back onto your barbecue where it belongs 😂
A 300 six and a manual transmission... That truck will outlive us all.
Not with that transmission. I had a truck exact same spec, those mazda 5 speeds are shit.
Mine has 270,000 miles on it. The engine, the tranny, everything. They trannys are fine if you don't beat the shit out of it.

A lot of clutch issues stem from the brake/clutch pedal assembly being worn out

I wish you would do a supercharged 5.8 liter in that truck🤠!
The bumper and headlights looks way better, but that grille is just awful.
Rust belt truck? Calling BS. Fender bottoms, rockers, cab corners, bed wheel wells, gas tank straps and plain steel bumpers had holes after 6 winters.
These concrete cowboys have no idea what "extreme corrosion" even is.
All that hard work on a

It’s actually a 12mm.
Should have checked and/or replaced the spindle bearings
