Utility Balisong Knife? I got one from Arena Accessories on a whim. They have two different lengths, option to ship with both a standard blade AND utility knife holder, and they throw a few extra tools on the thing for ya. Titanium handles, steel everything else, you're looking at $120 at MOST. Look it up!
Love these! You mentioned you can't find the utility blade balisongs anymore... we've got them in titanium and running on ball-bearing pivots. There is one more version that comes with a crappy faux, reflective carbon fiber sticker on front (in place of the skateboard deck paper) but it looks really bad, with bubbles in the finish. Glad companies like TacKnives are carrying these OTF utility knives. We've also been selling these OTF box cutters in our store for the past few months as well, and can't keep them on the shelf very long. Not one complaint or return on them, in the past 125+ orders... so to have a product with that kind of reliability is incredible.

A california court case from the past few years ruled that a fixed box cutter was a concealed fixed blade, so I suspect these might be considered a switchblade here in California if they become common enough for lawmakers to look at them.
I would assume that they bypass CA’s switchblade laws because they are shorter than 2”. I’m not a lawyer so don’t take that as legal advice… but the Microtech Exocet is purpose built to be CA legal so I can’t see how these wouldn’t be…
The thing that I find with utility blades is they are hella sharp till the first few cuts but dull so fast due to the extreme low angle they are ground at. I know it’s easy to switch em out but hard use just doesn’t hold an edge as well as thicker stock.
Yeah, but if you're cutting sketchy stuff the utility blades disposability is its perk. Cutting things against metal/concrete, cutting a lot of hose, plastic coating or tape off of braided wire, even cutting light metals. Those little trash blades are a must have for my job.
When I was able to work I always used the gerber eab, works great still use it from time to time. But this would have been really nice to have, I like the 1 with the grip tape on it but I bet it would also tear up ur pant pockets too
