    I pulled about 85 lbs of fall honey this year and folks are loving it. Different taste, stronger, but very good.

      Hey Duck River, yeah, it has a unique flavor. I like it more in the cold months, kinda like a Guiness Stout. lol Thanks for watching and take care.

    What a difference a season makes! I’ve wanted to harvest some fall honey, but I have to pull everything to treat for mites. I love the smell of fall honey aka goldenrod in these parts! The property is looking good after the storm. You’ve been busy for sure! 🙂

      Hey Daisy. Yeah, I'm about tired of cutting up trees. I took off early today and worked about 4 hours til dark. This year I pulled all my Fall supers off and they didn't have much in them, except this one, and I let the bees clean them all up and I stored them all away. I meant to get this last one off a long time ago, but things happen. lol Take care and have a Merry Christmas.

    Darren, I agree you definitely needed to get the excluder off. I don’t normally harvest any fall honey but I left a couple on this fall, I took one and ended up leaving one because one of my brood boxes was very light. Of course I didn’t leave an excluder on it. I love your wildlife and sunset footage! I hope nobody slips in there and takes the big buck, he’s becoming a magnificent creature.

      Hey Don. I didn't harvest any fall honey this year, except this one super. My other supers I had put back on the hives, but in the Fall, I set them out for the bees to clean them out. I intended to get this one off before the ice storm, but that changed my plans for me. lol I'll pull my SD cards from the trail cams this weekend. Hopefully we still have Slash around. Thanks for watching.

      Hi Old Redding Farm. I usually do fall harvest late October or early November. The ice storm we had put me way behind and honestly I forgot I had left that one super out there. I warmed it up good with a space heater in a small room and extracted it last weekend. I got 6 quarts of nice dark full flavored honey. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Well i learnt something from that video i never knew about dark and light caps the theory behind it ,thanks Peter Australia

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  4 роки тому

      Hey Peter. I think the dark caps are more during the heavy nectar flow and you see more light caps in the fall. Take care.

    Wish I had a couple of extra supers on my hives. Never thought I could sell 300 lbs of honey but it's almost gone already. I've never tried fall honey because we don't have a fall flow here where I live. That coyote goes from standing still to 100 mph in seconds the way it looked.
    Here in MN we are without snow for the last couple of weeks. High's in the mid 30's which is great for here. Take care Jerome.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  4 роки тому +1

      Sounds like you did pretty good on sales then. I think I've sold between 400-500 lbs. I still have quite a bit left. Not many sales at all right now. I may need to have a Christmas sale. lol Fall honey definitely has a stronger flavor, kind of like molasses. I like it more in the winter months, kinda like a good Stout beer. lol Take care and stay safe Russell.

    I really think Spring honey got a better taste. Can taste the clove in it too. It thinner as well. If you feed your bees sugar! That what you get back is sugar honey Yuck. so i feed the sugar honey back to them, to redo into EXCELLENT HONEY! this help cut down the cost of feeding them! > Its like feeding them for 2 or 3 years FREE ~ Like me! i over populate my area with bees This is where starvation takes hold. Got to plant more food for the bees> I plant what taste good in honey, like clover, peaches ect ect for the taste in my honey, and what i would eat as well> I LOVE PEACHES ! FRESH OFF THE TREE IN JAMS, JELLIES, COBBLERS, JUICES I use a lot of peaches> now using them in my hot sauces and cooking! Put some peach jelly on HAM, TURKEY, AND THINGS OMG YUM

    We are in suburbia and the last thing I ever thought I would have an issue with is bears. I thought wrong, he hit my last remaining hive three times!!!We finally moved it into our shed but doubt they will survive the winter, especially if the queen was killed! Disappointing to say the least!

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  4 роки тому

      Hey Toots. Man, that's terrible. I guess bears just go where they want to these days. Probably looking for food. I hope they make it. Keep me posted.

    You think thats crazy, I fed 2 buckets of granulated honey back to my bees. It was some of the super dark molasses tasting stuff that nobody liked.

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  4 роки тому

      I bet they liked it for sure. That much less you'll need to feed them sugar if they would have needed it. Take care. OkieRob.

    YEAH ~ i'am a slacker. But not going to get sick, out side in this cold wet weather. Why are people harvesting honey in the winter? I never will ! I leave it in there hives until Spring. They can eat on it to make room YEAH DON'T LEAVE THE SUPER ON EM FOR SURE! ~ They need to be off on the last harvest. If you got a booming hive! they might be OK. if they eat it to make room

    • @JeromeBeeFarm
      @JeromeBeeFarm  4 роки тому +1

      There's a lot of honey left in there for them. I'll check the weight of all my hives through winter and will put sugar on them if they get too light.
