I'm just getting into creating with alcohol inks. I love them, and I love learning new techniques on how to use them! You have provided me one of the very best tutorials I've seen! I love the flower-like image you created here! Beautiful!! Thanks so much!
My cousin in law just started doing this and she is doing it on photo paper. It did curl up a little. I will tell her about the Yupo paper. Looks like I am a later bloomer to this. I just learned of this today, 3 years later than this was posted. Covid is keeping me home and I am restless. For just starting, you did an amazing pieces with the under water fish and the flowers! You are a natural artist! Just an FYI. Here in the Seattle WA area, we have a some Habitat for Humanity stores that sell tiles for really cheap. Maybe they are in your area as well. Thank you for taking the time to make this helpful video! I can't wait to try this!
Hi, I was a late bloomer using this ink as well. While I think it is beautiful and has so many possibilities, my first love is watercolor and will always be. I’m so happy you like this video. Thanks for the Info on white tiles. Great to know!
@@LindaSmithLatimer hey Linda, I have the same egg dish/ palette!! My friend found it in a thrift shop!!😁 it great for paint isn't it!!? Judith, I bet you could find one on ebay or etsy 👍 kind regards Mary from Australia 😎🤗
Ryan L Thanks so much your comment, they are sooo much fun. I have recently done a painting on glass then covered that with resin, it turned out so beautiful.
Christine what a wonderful Christmas gift! Alcohol inks are so much fun and with practice you can do almost anything with them! Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment. Happy inking! ☺️
What a magnificent abstract of underwater! When our minds are distracted our creativity can flow. I listen to books on CD and have a wonderful time creating. I hope you like your creation as much as I do. 😊

I really want to find a pretty egg dish too, rather than a plastic or ceramic pallet. Be seeing you soon, and I usually comment, so you know, I am paying attention. I love playing with alcohol ink, and currently have collected mica from our country roads, making fun backgrounds and embellishments for cards.
Thank you so much! I’m glad to be back. Thanks for the request! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. 😊
6862211 Thank you! Alcohol Inks are so much fun but very smelly. Just have some ventilation. Love my egg dish and yes, just clean the dish with ...alcohol! Easy Peasy!
Mary Williams Thanks Mary! Yes you can but when you particular areas to have those, you can’t control those alcohol flicks. Doing these bubbles are so therapeutic with a brush, so I do them and enjoy it. You’ll want to wear gloves or you’ll have stained fingers. Glad you enjoyed this. I’ll be doing more of an actual painting next time. 😊
If you’re going to Resin those coasters make sure you seal them first with Kamar Varnish. Otherwise all of your inks are going to bleed together as soon as the resin hits them
Love this video and your work! Could you please tell us what colors you are using when you do these? Sometimes it's hard to try to duplicate your results, because the shades of color I'm using are not blending as well as the ones you used. Thanks for all your good explanations for us beginners!
JC Gross JC Gross Hi JC, sorry I didn’t give colors on this video. When I did this one it was more just playing and showing how I did different techniques. Not really trying show colors, just more techniques. Future videos will have all colors I use. Thank you for watching!😊
I flippin’ luv ur dish!! It’s beautiful!! I want one!where did u get your lil bottles that hold your diluted alcohol inks? I have yet to find ones that don’t leak. Thx.
kristine Kerr Hi Kristine, you can find these dishes in antique stores. My awesome sister in law found this one for me. They were popular years ago for deviled eggs. I bought the plastic bottles at Hobby Lobby. They work wonderful! Thanks for watching! 🥰
valeriejoy11 Hi Valerie! In diluting the ink, it just depends on the color you are going for. Dark color jeans less alcohol added, lighter color means more alcohol added. That’s something you just have to experiment with. There is no hard and fast rule. For the little containers I used, I just put some ink in them (a few drops to a squirt of ink) and added enough alcohol to make the desired color and amount in the container. Sorry I can’t give you exact amounts. There isn’t a wrong way to do it. So have fun playing and it will be very easy to get what you want. 😊
Yupo is the best paper I have found to use. It is almost a plastic type of paper and won’t tear. But be careful getting fingers on it. You can buy it on Amazon. Hope this helps.
Liz Hamilton Hi Liz, I bought the embossing/Stylus at Hobby Lobby a number of years ago in the scrapbooking paper section. You can also buy them online from Royal Langnickel. That’s the brand of mine. They come 3 to a package. Each Stylus has a different sized metal tip on either end. So 6 sizes. I paid about $5.00 for the pack. Hope that helps. 😊
Why buy a stamp thingy just to clean the tile off? Also, that's a milk glass deviled egg tray, not porcelain. Also, on such a small piece, tje straw gives more control than the can.
puresprice Yupo is the paper I use and very flexible and translucent so I wouldn’t think it would be good for envelopes and would be very expensive to use for that purpose.
AB C You know I’m not sure about that. I know you can gesso a canvas and then use inks on that. I would try it and see how it works. Then let me know. Thank you for watching and sorry I don’t have a definitive answer for you.
carla jackson Hi Carla, on tile it won’t catch on fire, but on Yupo, the paper will melt. You can actually catch other things on fire using the heat gun if it is set too close to things that might burn but not the alcohol inks on the tile. With that said, I would be very careful any time using a heat gun. The alcohol ink will burn on the tile if you use a lighter on them and makes the colors very cool. But use caution when doing this as other inks close by could catch fire and that would be disastrous. 🔥
cynthia4477 Thanks so much Cynthia, it is actually on my “need to buy” list. I appreciate your help so much. I just hadn’t figured out which one. I’ll save this info for sure. 😍

No it will not work on the paper. It requires non porous paper so it can move around the paper. Porous means it will just soak into the paper.
