I had The lead singer as my High school Photography teacher. Super relaxed guy with so much talent. Loved this album
NO SHIT? MR PERRY?
singer of this band was my high school teacher lmao, he kills it on this album
Damn I would straight be nuttin in class
@@franktalarico689 same bro
Why do so many punk artists become teachers

This compilation is the sound of driving to high school classes during Fall. It’s a special kind of untouchable for me.
This is the best “skramz” band to ever exist. Back in the day that term wasn’t around and we called them post hardcore or screamo. They did everything right. I still have all of their vinyls tucked away safe, minus their split with A Satellite Crash, and the “brothers from another mother” split with Joshua Fit For Battle. Drummer even signed my hat.
Pretty nice :)
You're very lucky to have almost all their releases
U really know it
yeah. screamo bands wanting to say "we're just a punk band" would never hold up in the punk community. it just wouldn't be wanted. you can't call yourself hip hop if you're a polka band lol.
@@stevethepirate sad to say many listners or fan of music like this genre didnt know the asthetic of this band..am very happy that minimal people discover this band Long Live Niel Perry..
To me and others in the 90s punk was how we got into this music whatever you want to call it.@@stevethepirate
I don’t know why I’ve never met anyone that likes this type of music ,.. it’s like you guys don’t even exist :0
Neil perry 4 ever
there's so much stuff nobody will ever hear too... ua-cam.com/video/s-Rp9y4AmMY/v-deo.html
we do exist, we just never go outside
@@coffin_romantic Outside is fuck.
there are People out there
Go to a local show and talk to another loner then you guys can be friends and form a band
2023 and they still rock my world.
2024 AND STILL....
It's been two years since I found this album and I never paid much attention to it, but now that I listen to it in the middle of the morning, sitting on the couch in the dark...jesus, they are now one of my favorite bands
The drums with the clean guitar give me chills.
Love this band. Saw all the associated acts. You and I, off minor, etc. always missed Neil perry somehow. I’ll die alone.
It's that time of the year again..
Man. Their last tracks are so insane. In this discography it would be the first tracks. Still the same but so different at the same time. They broke up when they finally balanced it out. Best band.
In the first tracks, I hear a lot of what would become Hot Cross
screamo gang. skramz gang. one of the best screamo discographies.
Hell yeah brother. Skramz Gang. 👹
This is from before ppl said stupid shit like that
listened to this almost every day in jr. year of high school. shit's so good still.
There's no expiration date on shit like this!
This was released in 2003, damnit I'm getting old..
I wish they came together once more, just so I'd be able to see them..
I wasn't involved when this stuff was going on, but it's strange to me that this band doesn't get mentioned as much as Orchid, Saetia, City of Caterpillar etc. They're probably my favorite fast/chaotic scremo band. So good.
Also kinda disappointing that their drummer went on to do really weaksauce metalcore bands after this, though, admittedly that mid-00s metalcore is super not my thing.
They're all soo different. Orchid is grindier and saetia is more "emo" (repetitive melodies) and dark. Caterpillar is melodic and more cadenced slowly.they really represent the "extremities" of this type of music. Neil Perry is great, but does nothing stand outish.
@@HorkPorkler well put. I think I see Pg.99 talked about more than Caterpillar though, usually. They definitely have a lot of variety through their releases that show off a lot of the scope of the overall genre, I think
I hear you @@HorkPorkler. I more meant outside of screamo scenes--like a person whose into hardcore mentioning what screamo like they like. I feel like these two albums are definitely far more visible outside of screamo scenes where people would know enough to really draw distinctions? Could just be where I grew up tho.
The bands you mentioned are way more accessible imo. Orchid is just octave slamming which doesn't take much thinking to get into and Saetia has the melodrama of what the scenecore bands became so it is pretty familiar. Neil Perry drew from all the weirdo 90s emo and screamo with its quick transitions from heavy riffs to calm breather riffs. Some of their songs are long and then all of a sudden the next song is 30 seconds long. It can be hard to get into if you don't what to expect. Admittedly when I was new to screamo I loved saetia and thought Neil Perry was boring, but I think I just didn't get it. As for City of Catpillar, I think they are equally underrated tbh. Everyone knows the name because they were one of those early youtube screamo bands, but idk many people who actually talk about them much.
And there's my blog post.
The drumming I've always strived to put into my own playing.
crazy good
You listen to Hella? Or Lightening Bolt? Those dude are pretty insane.
If I ever start another band, if the drummer can't play the fills of "Fading away like the rest of them", he's not the right drummer :)
I guess you're not Belgium based?
really would like a drummer with this vibe, style and talent..
Neil perry is top tier screamo drumming. I’d also check out Hassan I sabbah and force fed glass
i've never heard it matched. tool's rudiments and rolls aren't as full volume as this drummer. Pat Magrath's just different, hella abstract and very educated as well.
by the start of the second song, I know this is going to be a journey
w😅
best record of all time
drummer killed it
I played this album so much it stopped working. glad you uploaded it.
Boggles my mind how this is not mainstream 🥲
Top notch!
Those first (last recordings, Nine Minutes of Non-Fiction, Kicked) songs were the absolute best. RIP also The Now & JFFB
brilliant
This is brilliant.
Thanks for posting ❤
Thanks for the upload, you are awesome!
yes
I have been looking for this for a while. Thanks for the upload. This band deserves more attention.
This is God damn amazing
Rlly good
You have reached a hidden gem
this ladies and gentlemen is the real emo music
UA-cam suggested I listen to this so I am
❤❤❤❤
Fuuuuuuuck yes.
This album hits so FUCKInG hard
The singer is a teacher... Maybe he wanted to be like Robin Williams in the Dead Poets Society 😅
Just got done watching that again and was prompted to hit this up as a result. Robin W. is such a fucking baller in that film. Oh Captain, my Captain... How you are missed..
had the possibility to do about 5 dates with them and jffb and it was a gift from on high as it´s this upload.
If anyone has a copy of this and would be willing to burn me a copy and mail it I will pay you!
You could just rip it from UA-cam with a converter and then burn it onto a CD. Find the album artwork and put it all together in a jewel case.. not ideal, but it's what I'd do if I couldn't track a copy down.
Yep.
Still rips.
What a collection of songs, damn!
What are ya’ll listening these days? I have a list of bands in similar style I listen but maybe there’s something good I’ve missed.
you & i, the pine, funeral diner, pg.99, waifle
OLTH 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
i dont know what genre this is but im hooked
it’s screamo, definitely check out more of the genre. greatest music genre ever imo
based discog.

Wish I was better at understanding words without having to look at lyrics lol, I can't understand all of seeping through the cracks and what is in the making because of my inability to do so :/
I’d actually argue it’s because of the genre of music we choose to listen to lmao
@@i_am_an_idiot_but honestly it could be the reason xD
is this chronological in terms of being released/recorded?
Is this stuff on cd? I only have Jerome’s dream and Neil perry on vinyl? I would love cds
as far as I'm aware, this compilation is only available on cd.
Where did you find neil perry on wax? Or cassette? Or Joshua Fit For Battle?
I'm not techno savy but I'm pretty sure it's analy insertable
thank you for the song name (don’t sue me, as i can’t afford a lawyer)
La portada de system of a down jajsjs lol
Can anyone tell me why Apple Music only had an ep from these guys and no info? Do they have more music??
Probably licensing… Apple Music has nothing from any Level-Plane releases (at least that I’ve come across). Any stuff from their bands that is on AM, you’ll find the L-P content is always missing.
I love everything Neil Perry did but those first 6 songs on this on kill me. 😩 imagine just those songs on an album....
Ugh
ikr, what I wouldn't give to have seen them live 😓💔
I really want to know the origin of their name
Neil Perry the character from Dead Poets Society? Correct me if I'm wrong
@@twerkqt2179 im pretty sure youre correct
19:56 - 20:19 what is he saying? I can't tell
Hate the man without a plan who stole the chance I never took
@@143jcm holy crap thank you so much
Either you've got better hearing than me (which is probable) or how did you know what he was saying?
@@kaiserstorm886 weird i sent a comment yesterday but it mustve been deleted because i linked discogs? Yeah i listen to a lot of this kind of music and that part can be hard to hear, take a look at their split with jffb and all the lyrics are in the images part! (what i usually look at because a lot of bands like these put lyrics in / outside their albums)
@@143jcm you wouldn't happen to know where I could find the lyrics some of the other songs? A lot of the places I check don't have lyrics listed for a lot of their songs
I got into this kind of music through hardcore, I check out hardcore today and it is a bunch of fat bearded dudes doing metal vocals with less skill and the crowd doing MMA in the pit. Seems lame to me.
@BigGuy-ox3hc well I guess since the late eighties.
its definitely fun for some people but i don't like the macho shit that much, even though the people are nice for the most part between the songs and sets. the screamo and skramz scene rn is where it's at for hardcore that's not like that
