  • I received a call from a client who needed help assembling a Heartland shed. I knew that I would really enjoy this project so I made sure to get some footage for my DIY fam.
    I hope you enjoy the video and as always thanks so much for the support!

    I'm thinking of getting one of these sheds. Thank you so much for sharing your experience.

    I can say with certainty that you can build this for a lot less than 1200 dollars. I build several a week for the company that makes these. Even with real stud walls I can do it for half.

      Real stud walls? I'm a noob can you explain? I thought they ship you 2x4s for the stud walls

      He probably meant to say 16" on center 2x4 walls like a house. This kit has cut down 2x3 24" on center walls that are not true 2x4 walls.

    What size Tapcons did you /do you use for the sill plate (2x4) into the concrete?

      It was such a long time ago I can't remember Unfortunately. Did you buy the kit? It should be included

      I did get the kit from Lowes but no floor assembly included (sill plates). No worries, keep on building!

    Do you wish you had built the optional floor kit on this project? Or do you think it’s not needed with the slab?

    • @AverageGuyDIY
      @AverageGuyDIY  Рік тому

      We didn't have the optional floor kit unfortunately, for us the slab was more the enough.

    What diameter & length concrete anchors did you use for the sil plate?

    How do you allow for the thickness (1.5") of the 2x4s when laying out the shed floor frame? Did you cut thec12' or th8' studs?

    • @AverageGuyDIY
      @AverageGuyDIY  2 роки тому

      Honestly Barbara, we had to do a little adjustment to all 4 bottom plates because our slab was not poured to the exact size. Anytime you build these kind of sheds sometimes the measurements don't come out exactly how they are shown in the manual.

  • @benb6801
    @benb6801 Рік тому +1

    Nice. How were you so sure that the measurements of the shed were going to fit up so perfect with your concrete slab, I would like to do this same set up with a slab of concrete

    • @AverageGuyDIY
      @AverageGuyDIY  Рік тому

      Not every section was perfect you may have to compromise in some sections.

      That specific shed the slab was supposed to be 144 inch but shed measures 141 so thats the reason they used the 2x4 on inside corner the 2x3 that you can see outside of the shed would be covered by the siding overhang

    Are the wall studs 2x3 or 2x4 I’m getting this kit but want to get extra studs to put in for windows

    If I buy a shed like this, do I have to have the cement or can I place it on my grass?

    • @AverageGuyDIY
      @AverageGuyDIY  2 роки тому +1

      Well.. you wouldn't want it directly on the grass, I would say either on gravel or on wooden planks. Something to rise it off the grass.

    • @antoniomontana9430
      @antoniomontana9430 Рік тому

      Definitely don't want it sitting on the grass because the moisture from the soil will cause it grow mold and rot immediately. Best option would be to buy treated wood beams and build a foundation to elevate the floor of the shed off of the grass.

  • @mattbuysbusinesses

    How did you fasten the shed to the sill plate?

    • @AverageGuyDIY
      @AverageGuyDIY  2 роки тому

      Once we secured the sill plate to the concrete (using anchor bolts) we just nailed the framing (bottom horizontal wooden wall piece) right into the wood/sill plate.

    • @mattbuysbusinesses
      @mattbuysbusinesses 2 роки тому +1

      @@AverageGuyDIY thank you! I also see you used a framing nailer. Did you stick with 3” framing nails or use 3 1/4”?
